Said it countless times and I'll say it again. I've wanted a horror focused batman for years. The character should be scary, imposing and intimidating. They briefly touched on that with Batfleck introduction in BvS. Those girls in that apartment building looked like they saw a ghost. THATS what got me pumped for that version until WB fucked everything up.
Pattinson version is said to have that same aura.
Fuck, tomorrow is going to be a long day at work.

Yep. I honestly took a break from superhero movies to the point where I would rarely follow any conversation about them, but I did watch a couple of trailers for The Batman, hence why I mentioned Colin Farrell...I could not recognize him at all under his make-up. Not even his voice gave him away...

And when WB heard his pitch they even delayed their plans for the movie to wait for Reeves to finish War for the Planet of the Apes just so he could make it.

The people who are upset this wasn't a funny Marvel-esque movie make me sad. I am so tired of the Marvel every-three-seconds-a-joke formula. I wanted a dark, serious, Batman film. And it looks like I'm gonna get it.

I thought Ben was awesome in the role, but the Snyderverse is shitty and I'm ready for a better quality take.

I don't think it's about whether he's a good actor or not. It's about whether he was cast correctly.
Batman is a physically imposing, playboy millionaire, with an air of darkness to him. I think a lot of people can see Christian Bale and Ben Affleck in that role.
Pattinson is a skinny emo weirdo. He may be a good actor (I loved him in The King) but he's better cast as a Joker / Riddler character.
I have no idea what you even mean by this. I'm an ex-Star Wars fan. Grew up with the original movies and was pretty obsessed with the "universe" as a kid. The new movies are bad. Not only how they tie in (and destroy the old stuff) but just ... as movies.
There is a weird thing among some people that like to blame the people that want to like the product for the shortcomings of the work. Like movie producers/directors/writers are infallible. Bad movies are constantly made. Don't blame the people that the movies end up driving away.
I liked him in Tenet personally. Can't blame the guy because girls like him in Twilight.
People should learn that we should give actors a chance. Everyone thought Ledger as the Joker was an awful idea until it released. The Nolan movies are by far my favorite batman movies for many reasons, but I think this could be great and am looking forward to it. As long as it's well made, all of these different takes on Batman have the opportunity to be good, and they don't detract from what might be your current favorites. It's not a zero sum game.
Bottom line, I hope the movie is great.

Dano's performance wasn't that great either. Serviceable but I expected better based on his previous roles. Seemed he was overacting a bit in this.
Joker scene was really bad. Didn't get me excited at all. Needed a lot more subtlety. The way Nolan did it with the joker card was much better and hyped everyone up. This was just cringe worthy and felt out of place, like it was added last minute or something.

Just got back from a screening. It was an IMAX screen and there were no trailers beforehand. The theater was less than half full as far as I could tell.
My friend absolutely loved it. Said it was the best Batman movie yet.
I didn't care for it whatsoever.
I can't put my finger on why it didn't click with me. It's well made, acted, and the cinematography is fantastic. I just never cared for one minute what was happening on the screen. In fact, the action scenes and the climax at the end are when I was my most disinterested.
I'm definitely going to be in the minority by not caring for this film and I'll have to check it out again once it hits streaming. Maybe I just wasn't in the proper mindset tonight.

No, I did not expect a marvel esque, movie. Far from it.
I knew it was a Fincher-esque noir film with Batman, but by god does Fincher show how he is a master class at these kind of films with how he mastered pacing and execution of dialogues.

Batman is OP as fuck without ever explaining why his armor is impervious to any damage whatsoever.
Also, apparently his armor is light enough to carry in a backpack and apparently he can switch out of it into civilian clothes as fast as superman.
Also. He walks around like a tank, sounds like a tank, never hiding is arrival, but somehow halfway through the movie someone remembered Batman is known for being sneaky so they added two whole scenes where he disappears mid conversation.
Which makes no fucking sense because you KEEP ESTABLISHING hes walking around like a tank.
Alfred was the most useless character.
Story was basically ripped from the developers of Walking Dead game's take on The Batman in their game series.
Who the hell cares about Bruce Wayne if he's just a brooding moody emo boy 24/7?
What makes Bruce Wayne loved and known by Gothan is his fake persona, this one had none and still looked upon like a celebrity.
Whatever, it was a GREAT BATMAN movie in terms of atmosphere and mood and tone.
Story could have been cut down by 30 mins tbh.
Also, lol white incels bad. You heard it folks.

I was wondering about the suit switching too. At first I thought it just time jumped to a different day but I think it happened again later and I'm like, wait a minute where did he stash his suit? The armor thing also started to bug me. When Batman got blown up at close range and didn't have a scratch on him and suit still in tact Even the new mayor taking a rifle shot to the chest/shoulder area and climbing out of the rubble like she was completely fine was weird too.

Heading out to see this at lunch tomorrow. Batman is the only comic book character I give two shits about, so this should be relevant to my interests. And this theater has good food

Did you see the justice league Snyder cut? That was nearly 4 hours I believe. This one dragged slightly towards the end of the 2nd act but it wasn't too bad overall length wise. Went by pretty fast imo for a 3 hour movie.
As a lifelong Batman fan I loved it.
I expected Pattinson would be great and he's now my second favorite Batman.

The first act is so rad. I haven't been that immersed within a movie for quite a while.

This blew me the fuck away. A swift kick in the ass the superhero genre desperately needed. WB/DC really gave Matt Reeves $200 million and let him go all out and it shows. The direction, music, production design, cinematography, and acting is all top notch.
Definitely. 2nd act dips a little, and 3rd act isn't near as good as the first 2. Overall I'm really happy with it though. Already itching to see it again.

They really did go for a much grimmer, dirtier, more toned down version of the character. So much so, it felt like a dude in a suit more than Batman in places. Reeves owes David Fincher a lot.

Going on Saturday, bought into the hype for this one from the start and it looks like it'll pay off. I don't expect it to be better than The Dark Knight but I'm not a big Rises fan so we'll see where it lies next to that.
It's my second favorite Batman movie. It's slow but once I get the home-video, I'm going to love soaking it in.
The Dark Knight is so hard to top. It especially shines in terms of pacing, after you watch this movie.
