FOREVER

I wonder if apps that use the broadband adaptor, such as PSO and Homeland, will still work.
Being able to play Ikaruga far in the future will be nice too, since Dreamcast drives are all destined to die someday.

ok, I'm not a fan for the most part, but RE4 is godly, and how neat would RE5 look next to these so the whole series is neatly available to play on one system...

Best thing is you won't need a Gamecube to play the 2-3 good Gamecube games available LOL AM I RITE!!?!

BC is good for 3 reasons to me...
1-I, personally, don't want to have the compilation games I have to be bought again on the next system
2-for Nintendo it's a good selling point for buyers (by the time Revolution comes, there will still be LOTS of people who never enjoyed the GCN), this will be like buying 2 new systems for them which makes it more attractive to new audineces and more userbase means more support
3-also good for Nintendo is that having "normal" controller ports means that there is a way to control games "normally" if so chosen by the gamer or game maker

From this, it makes more sense to have once and for ever all licences of nintendo on the GC.

And late gen release will get a boost at Rev launch.

Will Revolution connect to the GBAs? And how do you play Zelda 4 Swords on Rev? And will Gameboy player work on Rev?

Isn't that the point?
:lol :lol

BC gives the masses (average Joe Gamer and average Soccer Mom) an added feature and more importantly -- the perception of a greater value in a system out of the box. This is something that Nintendo needs more than anyone next generation.

Best thing about it for me is surely the next XBOX would have to be Backwards Compatible, now right?

Because now this is official, and the next Playstation is expected to be backwards compatible, well now Microsoft would look silly not making the next XBOX backwards compatible.

The silence of whiners and the slight convenience of being able to retire my gamecube.

It's not a real big deal for me but it probably does make sense (you keep carrying along your old portfolio of titles) and at least I wont have to hear people complain for five years about Nintendo not doing it while the others are.

What makes you think it would have that? Maybe in Revolution 3. :lol
Well, why not? A 1920x1080i image is already nearly 7 times the pixels of a 640x480i image.

I can sell my Cube to get money for the Revolution
Considering the price the GCN should be at that time, you'd probably be better off at least using it as a paper weight.

Capcom really needs to make some of those Player's Choice, or release a bundle, or simply doing a 2nd printing of some of those. So damn hard to come by any RE game other than Zero or 4.

Wouldn't that be wild if we could get the Revolution with it's backwards compatibility OR we could also have the option of getting a GC add-on for forwards compatibility?

In that way, it fits with their comparison to the DS (essentially a GBA with additional hardware), and their constant reminders that there will be support and add-ons for the Gamecube to extend it's lifespan! And of course there'd be some curveball they'll throw in to make it really unique like the touchscreen and what not with the DS...
