I've played 150+ hours and only faced Loki once (And gotten 1 black market).

It took me ages to find Triarachnid. I've only seen Daddy Longlegs three times, twice as a miniboss in Cathedral. I constantly get Monstro II though, who is one of my least favorite bosses now that you can't trick him into brimstoning constantly. only one black market too. I keep using the Passage/go deeper items trying to find retro treasure rooms/markets but coming up empty.

I mean it's only 55+ hours, but I think I saw Loki once, black market twice (both within first few hours, before I knew what the hell the purpose of the room was and the fact that one of these times I got it with Curse of the Blind which only further confused me), Daddy Long Legs once or twice and Triachnid never.

I see Loki all the time but Lokii only a couple times. He's one of the easiest "posthumous" bosses, really. The bosses definitely have different weights, Gurglings are fairly rare, Monstro is...god I'm tired of Monstro, Haunt is there in like half of my Cellar 1s, Gurdy seems rarer (and easier) than she was in vanilla. Tired of Harbingers too, mostly because cubes of meat are all but useless now as completing meatboy just doesn't happen.

Thank god Gurglings are rare, I hate them more than anything else. So annoying to dodge.

I only have a problem with Gurglings because I see the miniboss version so often I assume they'll die WAY before they actually do, so I do lots of stupid shit and get hit because they reach me before they die and I don't leave a way out.

I think there are too many womb-and-later-only bosses now, since there's a grand total of one floor they can actually be a boss of, and minibosses aren't super common on Cathedral/sheol. They don't seem common in Dark Room/The Chest either. On Womb 1 I usually just get Scolex (hate him BTW), Conquest or Mr. Fred.

But cubes serve the same purpose now as they've always done - tear-blocking orbital that's larger than a Pretty Fly. Experienced players would never go past a level 2 meat cube.

Be happy that they severely toned down how often horsemen spawn! It was pretty bad in WotL, felt like basement 1 was damn near hardcoded to always have Famine.

(And of course they managed to repeat that by having Haunt always show up on cellar 1...)

there's a knife just sitting out in the open (well, you have to bomb a rock to get it) in Basement 1. plus you can get Guppy after a few floors, and there's a bunch of soul hearts.

That sounds awesome. Will definitely give it a try.

I imagine for the challenges where you can't shoot (cat got your tongue, family man) that you can still use the knife by running into enemies even though you can't throw it?

Meat cube is okay, second one is crap, third and forth...I don't even know because I've never gotten them in Rebirth yet. Though level 2 Bandage Girl is alright with those charm shots. Would prefer anything that buffs damage instead, or even a heart for devil deals. Better than Pagent Boy I guess. Also Conquest/Headless are super trolls to me, I don't remember the last time I got a (white) pony when I didn't already have flying

lvl 4 Meat Boy in vanilla was very strong. Maybe not appropriately strong to warrant 4 separate pickup slots, but still strong.

They're still very strong in Rebirth. Very aggressive and high DPS. Got both of them in normal runs exactly once, and they pretty much carried me to the end.

Kind of couldn't believe my luck either. First one was a run that just happened to have a book of Rev on floor one and I got Super Bandage Girl without even trying for it.

Restarted for another Book of Rev on the first floor some time later and got Super Meat Boy on my first try at it.

No luck on the Vita version though, had to resort to the Sharp Plug + Monster Manuel method there, which honestly isn't that bad.

100 hours playtime and I've never gotten lvl 3 on either.

I'm still sore and sour about the time I had Lvl 3 and was about to enter the 4th applicable boss room and had a game ending unrecoverable crash (my first and only BoI crash, too).

Anything (including we need to go deeper) can find a retro treasure room instead of a level skip. There will be a ladder in the pit if it's a treasure room/black market. I don't know if the ladder still appears in The Womb's weirdo sprite, I've never seen it happen. But I usually don't take Go Deeper with me unless it's the only use item I've seen, I just use it once hoping for a retro treasure room. It's almost never worth skipping a boss item. I guess Mom's Heart is an exception, if you wanted sheol anyway and already have the kill.

Chaos Card is thrown, goes about but not quite full room distance, do NOT trust it to hit anything particularly far away. Also, it throws in the direction your body, not tears, are facing. What I do is walk toward the boss while firing tears at it, then use the card. Certain multiple stage bosses with "invincibility frames" between forms can avoid an OHKO and instead transition.

I'm on a ??? run and just got explosive tears to go along with monstros lung which is insane since my damage had already been upgraded a few times. I need to be wary of splash damage but hopefully I can get a good run. I fired on the donation box to get a few coins but I shot it full force and it spat out at least 30 coins. I can't finish the run till later.

I'm hoping to make a run on

Krampus can still be used as an emergency clear or a boss killer. Don't think it's that bad, it was way too powerful.
And isn't Halo of flies the passive familiar item? Are we sure they mean the blue attack flies?

They definitely mean blue flies. Like how in the original Isaac you could only transfer five from room to room.

Damn, Krampus will be way less useful since 6 is basically in "boss only" territory. Not sure little brim is worth 2 hearts either. He just went from one of the best 1 heart items to one of the worst 2 heart items.

Can't tell if they mean the halo of flies thing or not.

Maybe they should allow seed runs for (character spoiler)

since he's basically RNG otherwise. Given the changes this round I kinda doubt it.

So is hard less shitty after this patch? If it's just less health I can do that just dandy.

I don't even get the point of Hard mode anymore. So it's only less heart drops and more champions? Hell, more champions is a good thing.

Krampus Head nerf, it was inevitable. Outside of the reroll items, it was by far the best use item. Totally invalidated any damaging use item like gameboy/unicorn horn/whatever.

Nerf to Guppy is understandable (if that's what halo of flies means) as it was pretty much instawin, but man it was so fun.

nah, you can't. for those challenges it's easiest to use a seed that has Lil Brimstone showing up in the basement

Some items need some love though. Deadsea scrolls and crack the sky, both are super useless. Both should be 1 room recharge.

Do they despawn at room-change though? I think that's how the Mullian works. But maybe they just fixed an exploit to add a billion flies with Halo of Flies/pretty fly and such?

no, according to people on reddit who are trying stuff with seeds, they don't despawn... the patch is about the actual Halo of Flies for some reason, maybe there was an exploit we don't know about?

Just tried a Guppy run on PC (seed 22NB 3F08, chest in Super Secret Room leads to Devil deal with free Guppy) and can confirm that you can spawn more than 10 attack flies which stay between rooms.

All is well.

get 3 pretty flies circling around you. most projectiles won't hit you. whenever you see a casino room hit up the slot machine as many times as you can.

Just stay at the left/right side of the room and run to the corner UNDER on the same side as where his Crack The Sky attack starts. Don't be fooled by the bullet-hell patterns, they're all rather simple to dodge, any that aren't straight-shot won't cover the whole room so just stand as far as you can away and you'll be fine. It's overwhelming at first but none of the patterns are undodgeable.
