I preordered this ages ago thinking it was a sequel. Pretty disappointed though it is still an awesome game. My own fault for not researching.

Item spoiler:
If you see a scrap of paper reading 1+1=! in a shop, get it. It's a Humble Bundle reference, and in line with how great its namesake is, it doubles all common item drops. All of them.

Holy shit.

Azazel is fucking broken. Why am I ever going to pick another character to start?

very much so. I remember the thread when people got severe burn in from browsing too much internet
porn no doubt
and the black bars on the internet browser burned in.

Same thing will happen here for extended plays. Won't affect the new Vita 2k's only the Oled models.

Damn...I guess it's time to buy a new Vita

Holy shit, the leech is an awesome item. I wasn't thinking and picked up dead cat later on, still managed to beat the run though.

Loving the game so far, unfortunately I need to stop, won't be able to play again till Thursday.

Just played through the whole game coop using share play, works so well was really great. I find the way coop works to be pretty neat too.

so word of warning:

I installed it on my macbook to see if cloud saves worked. It seemed mostly fine except it was an old save. So I quit them game, restarted, and there was no data. I quit and it synched the no data version with the cloud. Ran to my PC and yup no data anymore.

So watch out!

I think the spawn rate for flies is lower if you're using Technology 1 or 2. I definitely spawned a bunch but it was like...one or two a boss.

This is a waste of money (unless you really want a new Vita). Chances are that you'll never get this problem, unless you are a basement dweller that plays the game 24/7 without a break.

Just play the game and take breaks from time to time and you'll never get the burn in.

I am so fucking miserable at this game. I get so jealous of everyone talking about how great it is.
It's partially luck. Sometimes you just keep getting awesome stuff right off the bat, sometimes you're thrown at a hardass first boss with a first floor that gave you nothing. Though that example's probably more the game deciding it'll be merciful.

Also if you loved the sound effect for getting a golden key in the first game, it's even more awesome in this one.

2 deaths, 2 heart kills, 1 devil kill. Not bad, but I can do better. One of the deaths was on a new first boss. -_-

Probably answered earlier in the thread somewhere but....will the music from the original be in the game? selectable somehow? unlockable?

I will say that some of the music tracks are growing on me the longer I hear them.

The menu music in particular is damn good.

People are probably getting lucky streaks and/or have the experience of playing the game from the flash version for HOURS, how can the game be any hard like this? Of course it'll be easier.

And there's a lot of shit seeds yet.

70% of being good at the game relies on just playing more and finding out how things work, which items do what, etc. You can get an extremely good item, but completely negate its greatness by taking another because you don't know what they do. The more you play the more you realize what items and risks you should take, when and where to spend your money, when to stop exploring rooms and go for the boss, etc.

The other 30% is actual dodging skills and luck imo.

Losing isn't really losing in this game if you're picking up new items and trying new things. Knowledge is the real progress in this game.

I think being tired has a major effect on my in game abilities. When I first got home from work, I was easily winning. Now I am taking bad damage and making consistent mistakes.

Time for a break.

Yep, once you learn how to time his short range attack he is really powerful. The only issue with the character is that you really need some health boost/recovery items asap, and if you have bad luck you might not get any. It is ok if you find a steady stream of hp ups, but you really want the shield that gets you one free hit in each room or even better the little creature that converts ordinary hearts to soul hearts.

Beat the game on my first run, seems little easy for me. Maybe cause I was so use to playing the game on the keyboard, that now, playing with the PS4 controller seems like cake. Good stuff though. I can already see my that I'm not gonna have much sleep tonight. Fuuuuucccckkkkkkkk!

You need to switch to a strategy that doesn't require gaming abilities such as playing as
Azazel
.

I went into one of those randomizer rooms.

Walked out with Sacred Heart with max tear rate, then proceeded to decimate mom's heart. The "teleport when taking any damage" item I was given didn't help, but eventually I did it.

The new bullet stuff is tough.

I don't think you can really judge the game's difficulty fairly after the first couple runs if you've played the original; you know most of the enemies and boss strategies, have tons of practice moving and dodging, are making decisions about how much money to spend and where to spend it, which walls to bomb, when you should be taking devil deals or running over sacrificial spikes and doors, etc. New players have absolutely no knowledge of that.
I mean if you've played around 50+ hours of Issac, you could probably get to Mom every single run without fail.

I say wait until you have all the floors unlocked, and then play hard mode to really see how challenging the game gets.

Having this game on PS4 and Vita is awesome. Glad I passed up the original. Didn't look too interesting, but thanks to Patrick at Giant Bomb and his video series the game really grew on me. Been waiting for this ever since. The new art is great, the music also seems to be new. Also I got one of the new powers right away on my second Vita run and I plowed through the first set of levels+boss. It was great. Can't wait to play more, this will be my go-to Vita game for quite a while.

Damn, first time playing the second run and I died in the room right before the final boss. I probably would have made it if the game hadn't thrown a double trouble Cage fight at me as the boss of the previous floor.

Speaking of bosses, are Pin and Gurdy Jr. intentional references to Link to the Past?

Does anyone knows what happened with the OST for those who pre ordered? Because there's a lot of people complaining about not having the soundtrack.

With Gnawed Leaf and that little grub guy that follows you and chomps enemies I can pretty much beat nearly every room by standing still and doing nothing.

I'm getting my ass kicked. I was never good at the PC version, though. I think I only beat Mom once, and only played it one time since getting Wrath of the Lamb.

5 runs and 5 deaths. Farthest I've gotten was to Mom's floor, which was also the first run that unlocked any characters for me. Got 3, including Azazel.

Wow, the holy shield item is overpowered. I already have Dark Boy.

Okay, whoa. I have Mama's Boy too. Way overpowered.

I apologize if this has been asked, but does Cross Save need to be synced manually whenever you move from Vita to add PS4, or will it just work? I synced from my Vita after playing on PS4, which worked fine, but I just hope it handles that in its own from now on.

is there any benefit to playing on hard? It's how I've been playing/beating it but i'm curious if there are things you can only get on hard or if it's just added challenge for me.

Just got
Ludo and magnetic tears from my first two item rooms. Holy shit this is the best combination ever. I can move the tear around and it attracts every enemy and item to it!

I need to make a video of this.

So what's up with the challenges?

I tried the first three. Really liked the third one. But I don't understand what they are or what they're for and what the icon on the left that's crossed out is supposed to mean.

I thought there were Daily Challenges in this game now?

Does pre-ordering count if item was a gift before game came out?

Basically got gifted the game like mine hours before it came out. Added to library and preloaded.

didn't buy it yet. 15 bucks is kinda pricey a mega version of something I already own, how 'new' does it feel?
