Question for Black GAF

Speaking from personal experience, have you experienced any racism against you from other minorities?

Yeah. This Asian man in the convenient store always watching me whenever I'm in the store. His wife is ok, but I make sure not to go there when I see his jeep parked.

Disney ain't no kinda shit...

We're getting a Disney princess movie set in Africa with actual humans...but it's a white girl from Georgia.

And when we finally got a black Disney princess, she's a frog for 80% of her movie, and the theme of the movie is "pull yourself up by your bootstraps." I see this.

Man, Disney can make like Trick Daddy and eat all this ass...

Based on a controversal ass story as well.

I don't know if it counts as racism or not, but I gave my (former) grandmother-in-law a dehumanizing stare when I didn't want all the shit she was piling on my plate and she responded with "what kind of mexican are you?" She was mexican too, smh

Yes.

One time I went to a Chinese restaurant with my ex at the time. We got death stares from not only the staff, but a white family as well. BEST OF BOTH WORLDS :D

I can't relate to racism. So I can't play the racism game of real life

went to a PF Chang's with my friend and his family. They are Asian. Everyone in the entire place was white. Got weird looks the entire time

Considering Batman's, like, the 0.0001% and goes around trying to police an entire city to sate his weird-ass values and promise for revenge, I seriously doubt the dude's the most racially-sensitive guy in the world. Quick, Slay, back me up on this one.

I was working for a big telecommunications company as an installer. the problem with the job was that when i first hired on at the company i was a term employee. now we were hired on the basis that'd we be working for a year at least but after six months they cut us loose. their solution to the clusterfuck of laying us off early was to offer us jobs in another department (this was union negotiated). problem was the job created a 1.5 hour drive each way from home, where before it was 15 minutes. that was probably the first stressor that contributed to me quitting. the second source of stress which also caused a high turnover rate in that particular department was the volatile nature of the management there. They didn't care about you and they didn't care about how you were doing. The only thing they cared about was results and sometimes results REQUIRED you to work overtime everyday. So on top of driving nearly 3 hours in between work and home each day I would be working maybe 9-10 hour days where managers would always shit on us and treat us like children. This shit constantly gave me anxiety and affected my health. bottom line was that I hated the job.

Before I quit I had something else lined up but the problem with the new job was limited hours, you drove everywhere around the county while paying for your own gas, and you only got paid once at the end of the month. It was just not feasible for me to continue at that new job even if it was arguably better than my previous employer. fast forward a year from there and I'm still unemployed but I'm in the process of starting a new job within the week.

Obviously many would say that I should've sucked it up and kept going at the telecom job. I'm aware that a job keeps you financially stable but at what cost? I've survived for a year now on nothing but sheer willpower and lots of support from my girlfriend. I had some questionable decisions and mistakes were made at every turn, but I still don't regret the path I chose. It's clear that this part of my life is coming to an end and I've come to terms that by selling my ps4 I'm basically starting over from scratch. I'm basically getting rid of everything that was part of my old life with my old employer and I think that maybe that's a good thing at the end of the day.

Health and happiness over everything my man. Nothing to be afraid of in this life but not doing your best to live it as you see fit. fuck that old job you'll find a better one

Yep. Mostly because of I've done a lot of traveling, but I've dealt with racist LGBTQIA, asian, hispanic, jewish, even a disabled guy said some foul shit.

Yep. Maybe it has to do with where I live but I get as much racism from asians and hispanics as I do from whites.

I live in Texas btw.

After getting banned over an innocuous comment, I have to apologize for my nu-black-esque admonishment (I think it was in the last OT) of people in this thread who keep getting banned.

So the FBI is raiding Jared from Subway's house for child porn.

From the thread it sounds like they are investigating another guy who worked for Jared but had child porn mixed in with his work files. Jared is done either way though just by association/getting raided.

Most racism in my life has come from African-Americans. I make the distinction because the racism always tied into my Nigerian heritage.
It's happened at school, as well as in random places such as when a black lady cut my dad off and then yelled at him to "Go back to Africa" (How she saw his face so quickly left me surprised).
Can't let it get to you really, the ignorance hurts more than any intended insult.

Some of my Asian acquaintances are racist as fuck. I've gotten in arguments and ended friendships over anti-black stuff they've said. The Trayvon Martin/Mike Brown killings revealed a bunch of racist Asian people that I knew.

I should have predicted the twist on that FSU qb situation.

Tmz reporting he said her quote was 'get off me you fucking n--ger'.

I would tell you guys to leave the forum now. Hold on to your butts.

For some reason, I can't copy there link.

It might just be me but the more time I spend on GAF, the LESS respect I have for the average gamer and the MORE sympathy I have with the companies and corporations that have to put up with their shit. Some people here are exhaustively dumb, whiny and/or lacking self awareness :/

This could use some more eyes on it. Friend of mine is helping them get this set up.

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/black-women-are/x/671601#/story

What is the significance of this project?
Black Women Are is inspired by Black Men Dream by the visual artist Shikeith:

Like Black Men Dream, Black Women Are contributes to the reclamation of the Black narrative - by Black people. Through this work, we get to tell our own truths, untainted.
Successes for Black female filmmakers. Most of the crew for this project is composed of Black women. By supporting it, you are giving the opportunity for many Black (female!) producers, writers, directors, cinematographers, etc to thrive in an industry that is predominately white and predominately male.

Jesus Christ, that sounds far worse than my current situation, but I know shitty jobs. Not many things can match waking up and just hating what you do, just a super shitty feeling.

I had friends quit jobs because they fucking hated it. The people, coworkers, work environment, the hours, the stress. This was before I understood the toll a crap job can take. I would ask one of them why he'd quit when he REALLY needed the money, and he just simply said he wasn't happy with it at all and would rather be jobless. Didn't show one ounce of regret. He is currently working now and hates this current job far less.

Happy birthday breh. I'll be 25 in a few months. Yeah man, I mean I've have shitty jobs before but usually even if the job was shitty I was fine working there. It's legitimately hard for me to actively dislike something or someone so when I tell people that job was shit, best believe me it was shit. Only redeeming factor was the great pay but money can't buy happiness as they say.

I'm probably the least comic book person in this thread but isn't Bruce Wayne like a philanthropist on the side? Or is he some kind of rich guy who likes to think he's helping. In the Nolan movies at least his dad set up infrastructure projects to combat inequality.

The amount defending for Bill Cosby from Jill, from Whoopie, from Raven, and from WAY TOO MANY black men, really shows how much value women have in this country. Especially women of color. Black women more than any other.

I'm really angry right now. When it comes to anti-racism, many dudes seem to have some sense, but when it comes to any sort of intersectionality pops up, stupidity rears it's ugly head.

I wish I could smack a ton of dudes using the same circular or deadend logic white supremacist use on minorities, but because it's on women (namely black women) it's somehow ok.

And if I hear another dumbass talk about how "feminists" or "women" aren't participating in protests, despite most of the protests this year being led or co-led by women (namely black women) again...

I really thought fucking Bill Cosby was a done deal years ago, but dudes are still arguing over it.

Sorry for going all political, just got into it with some now former friends. Fucking ridiculous.

I think I'll try to do something more productive with anger, like continue writing my novel or something.
