It's over bruhs.

This is how America sterilizes the black man, attacking the foundation of our people.

Stay woke, brothers and sisters.

No, just crazy people can screw off.

I mean, I don't blame you for crazy kingdom hearts fans.

That would be dumb.

Erotic Violence is what got me

That is like some WWE forcable entry bullshit

Talking to DD about fandoms is a waste of time.

Erotic Violence has me dying of laughter every time I see the word pachinko.

Like wow if you looked up rape culture in the dictionary , that would show up. That a bunch of WWE shit

I *really* dislike the Kingdom Hearts fandom. Almost as bad as Homestuck.

I mean, a fandom is just some folk who talk about thing, a bit more detailed than the general public. we All are infact a part of several.

We just aren't nuts. Instead of blaming the group of the sum, blame the weird ones.

Only if you can't accept that fandoms are just dumb fans that need something outside of themselves to define their personality. Look at how pissy "gamers" get about the merest implication that there are girls and minorities playing games and that they might like equal representation. Look at any given month's NPD thread.

If you are a fan of something, you are part of the fandom. Are there dumb parts to fandoms? Yes. Are there great parts? Yes. Is your argument stupid? Also yes.

#NoFandom though.

Or they are just people who like thing. And and as with any group of people whether it by association through shared enjoyment of a product, or work, or school, or race or any happenstance, there are shitty people.

And I just find it, to be blunt completely idiotic to blame the whole for the some. That is a concept that small children, you know those things. Those things who don't know what sex is, and half of em don't know that wrestling is fake, and the other half the X-me are real. The ones snotting around, doing dumb things, hurting themselves. The ones having their brains blown by learning you can add and subtract numbers longer than 2 digits right now, those ones. Children at that age, when the teacher blames the class, for the few people. Even they go " no that'ts bullshit" its a concept that children know is dumb. They can't explain why is dumb, they aren't eloquent enough. But they know its dumb.

I refuse to operate on that sublevel, I will always blame the crazy portion instead of the group. All that is is blind hate, and I'm not about that. thats, fucking stupid.

AYYYY

Everyone knew porn was gonna be hit with VR tho
You could say some bought it for that reason

POV VR Porn + Headphones? That shit's immersive as hell bruhs. I've never jerked off to it though, cause if someone walks in on a brother with his drawls down to his ankles, jerking off/breathing heavy like a motherfucker and looking around the room with a VR headset and headphones on.... That's an L so monumental that you might have to change your name and go into witness protection.

No.
Yes, all of it. 😼
No, because it all gets dragged by the worst parts. 😗

Your disagreement doesn't make me wrong nor my argument stupid. I don't automatically have to associate with a group because I like a thing.

To the bolded, it doesn't.

All your problems and more can be solved by the magical new product called " no fuck that guy specifically". " Hey that guy who likes kingdom hearts is weird not hanging out with that guy "

With minimal effort, your problem has been solved by directing your disdain at the cause of the problem.

There was a 2nd movie after SAC and 2nd gig that I think was pretty good, probably because it was just a long episode.

I really like SAC and 2nd gig.

But words evolve. Literally literally means figuratively now.

Fandom is a term used to refer to a subculture composed of fans characterized by a feeling of empathy and camaraderie with others who share a common interest. Fans typically are interested in even minor details of the object(s) of their fandom and spend a significant portion of their time and energy involved with their interest, often as a part of a social network with particular practices (a fandom); this is what differentiates "fannish" (fandom-affiliated) fans from those with only a casual interest.
The microcosm made up of people who are fans of a fiction genre, or of a subgenre, who have their own clubs, conventions and amateur magazines (fanzines), dating back (in some cases) to the early 1930s. Some of these are overlapping. Star Trek fandom, for example, started in science fiction fandom and eventually became a separate fandom on its own. Comics fandom and even rock (music) fandom also started there before becoming separate entities.
uptown-fresh-prince.jpg

Things have changed since 1903. Every person that is a fan of something isn't part of the fandom. Or are you pretending that someone who casually likes superhero movies is the same as Slayven?
Pulling out that definition, which is one that applies mainly to sports, ignores that meanings change over time in language.

Fandom, as it's used today for media, represents a very specific and passionate sub-groups of fans. You shouldn't ignore that context.

this guy gets it.

Oh come on.

You can be as exasperated as you want to be but it's the reality of how the term is used currently.

If you like something, you're a fan. If you're very passionate about it (creating fanfics, creating/visiting dedicated websites, etc..) you're a part of the fandom. And there's plenty of people who associate Fandom specifically to the most wild and obsessed subsection of even the most dedicated fans. The ones who ship characters and harrass the creators when things don't develop the way they want them to.

I like a lot of things. I'd say I'm a fan of those things. But I'm not so enthralled with anything that I would claim to be a part of it's fandom.

Wow, I'm so confused by that Castlevania trailer.

Like, how can you market a video game as essentially, "SIMULATED RAPE!!!!" ?

Femto approved.

. And there's plenty of people who associate Fandom specifically to the most wild and obsessed subsection of even the most dedicated fans.

That sounds more or less something you yourself might need to get over. A lot of prose to walk around the notion you might be at sevral fandoms at the moment, and those things , much like anything , might hae weird folks in it. But hey I ain't your therapist, if you wish to play the game of denial I can't stop you, at least on this end.

Given how every time DD brings this nonsense up someone steps up to tell him it's nonsense, there's far from consensus on that.

This. 100% this is exactly what I've been saying the whole time.

Even if I 100% agreed with Jest Chillin, you'd still be well past the fandom event horizon.

Why would I need to get over something that other people attribute to the term?

Given how every time DD brings this nonsense up someone steps up to tell him it's nonsense, there's far from consensus on that.

I'm not speaking towards or about him specifically though and I think the disconnect comes from running in different circles or having different interests in general. Frequenting tv threads of all types, you'll find very different experiences. Fandom in the manner that I've seen it be applied towards media happens moreso with things like CW shows than it does with stuff like TWD, Mad Men, or Game of Thrones for example. And even then, if you're just watching those CW shows and aren't exposed to the online fanbase, you would never know about the fans. I see it simply because I visit the TV Threads for shows and some of the posters in those threads are active fans in other places where you can witness it. Stuff like Maurissa Tanchoeron being harassed on Twitter because of fans of a specific character in AoS or GISHWHES which came about and is participated in almost exclusively by the most dedicated fans of Mischa Collins/Supernatural.

In any case.. there's a difference between those fans and the average fan and the separate definition for the terminology isn't one that was just developed by the average fans to disassociate themselves from the more dedicated fans, it's one that those dedicated fans have taken up. And anyone can accept or deny it as much as they want. It's their prerogative. What I'm saying though is that the dictionary definition is not the only way that term is applied, especially online.

Edit: No, i'm done. I am not having the common sense argument today.

You win or whatever, eat your cookies, i'll argue this another time. This is dumb.

Had another interview today with a local fast food joint. I don't think this one went well. The interviewer seemed disinterested when he found out I didn't have any restaurant experience and I've recently been doing office-type work, which I'd think he already knew since he had my resume.
Went to the temp service I had worked that one day for to collect my check and to see if they had something else for me since they never called me back like they said they were. That place is unorganized as fuck. Woman forgot I emailed her my transcript and resume and about some shit she offered me before and I got to wait to talk to somebody else for a skilled position next week because she wasn't in today. I've almost had enough from them.

A lack of organisation in the hiring process is the worst.
Currently going through some bullshit with my job that means I have to re-apply for a job I already got in September. SMH.
Good luck with your job search!

Because it isn't reflective of reality?

And your problem could easily be solved of confronting the problem.

"I like thing"

" I"m weird and like thing "

" I do not wish to talk to you "

Done.

You both exist in a fandom, fanbase whatever. And you do not have to speak, everyone gets cookies.

Its almost as if most of the time, blaming the whole for the some is fucking stupid.
You are conflating the fact that I think fandoms are dumb and that I disagree with automatically being included in fandom. I think fandoms in general are a dumb thing and I enjoy the MASSIVE way it rustles TBM's jimmies to say so. Separate from that entirely, I think that fandom is something that you intentionally opt into and that fandom is a microcosm of people that like a thing. Again, people who casually like marvel movies are not the same as the comic heads in this very thread. Literal definition be damned, fandom doesn't mean what it used to and its intellectually dishonest to pretend it does. When I same someone is in a fandom, you know damn well I'm not saying that they are a casual fan of something. But keep playing coy.
Y'all arguing with dreamy a dude with 5 Disney Tumblr pages.
Two. Big fan. Hate the fandom cause they only talk about the parks.

Wiki definition

Urban Dictionary definition
(which contains postive, negative, and neutral definitions)

Except the use of the term isn't just for "Othering" a group of people. It's a self applied term in many cases. I'm not going to pretend to know the genesis of the current definition but whether it's positive or negative in connotation depends entirely on the person.

Let me get this right. So there's a group of Star Wars fans, many who famously said George Lucas raped my childhood and were ecstatic that he sold off Lucasfilm to Disney, petitioning to have George Lucas return to write and produce more Star Wars movies?

Something in the water does not compute.
They are pro lifers and didn't really want to the father completely out of thier life's after the sale and the lifelong child love of the franchise

Got to get me some of them pills in case GF goes to darque tan

I see it as

Fandom = greater totality of fan groups / communities, hence fandom

Fan groups / fan clubs / fan communities = subsets of overall fandom, e.g. SmashGAF compared to Smash fandom
