They wouldn't be so bad if there were some reading requirement, but people barely read past titles, let alone OPs or follow up posts.
To be honest, most people just don't want to know anything new, and they DEFINITELY don't want to consider that they way they see things might not be the way they are.
It's always the same posters with the same views, repeating the same phrases. People who aren't affected by racism don't HAVE to care, so most of them don't.
It's even worse on the internet than in real life because there are no real consequences, and people are so afraid of admitting that they might be wrong.
You basically see white fragility play out in real time in them. There can be meaningful discussion and debate but people barely bother to read the thread and literally respond to the title.
