It's sad that so many of Trump's supports don't understand that there's a difference between Locker room talk and toxic masculinity holding power over someone. People.need to realize that saying Trump's comments are okay, are by proxy saying that it's okay for Brock Turner to have rapes the young lady at Standford last year. Before our neighbours moved out and way further north in the province, they used to invite us, but it was traditional Kenyan food over a turkey and all the fixings.
It's funny how language works. How "please don't be black" is acceptable, despite implying the hopes that a potential criminal is white, or in other cases another poc.
However, "please be white" is the reverse, the strongest offensive statement in that situation considering white suspects are given a wide benefit of doubt in most cases.
"Please don't be black" = acceptable, because blacks are expected to commit crimes.
"Please be white" = non-factorable, because unrelated to the crime.
I wonder if Angelus would be around if he just chose the former.

In black/non-white US minority communities, in most cases there's rarely a "knee jerk" reaction for either phrase because the intent is known in regards to black people, Muslims, etc... being heavily stereotyped every time a crime is committed by individuals, with no bad intentions meant towards other groups since those groups don't face said stereotyping. But for those unfamiliar with the comments/sentiment, the reaction to the reverse statement is obvious and opens up the door for discrimination accusations and "What if I said 'please let the shooter be black?'" counter statements, so the regular version at a minimum would have prevented that.

This is so much easier to recount from memory when I'm drunk. Or at least the logic gaps make more sense, but I'll give this a shot anyway.
Lamont is Fred's son from a night that Fred doesn't even remember. Fred didn't actually call him his son until he lost his marbles when Elizabeth passed. Ol' Beth wasn't lucid enough during those years to give a shit. She liked the boy who took care of her from the window while her dead beat husband Fred was out dodging bookies and collecting his informant stipend. Esther remembers it all though, and is side eyeing Fred forever because of it, and shaking down Lamont to keep the secret. Fred being the dirty bastard that he is just thought he'd get some cheap labor out of the kid that was homeless and hanging around his yard, so he took him on as a worker to replace the junk yard dog that he lost in a bet.
Grady gave Lamont a little learnin' on the side. Just enough to get him ambitious enough to take over the family business, but not enough for him to have real ambition and move on with his life. Lamont gave up his rather brief life as a Diamond booster and shale importer, and settled into his normal by comparison life that is a perpetual lie after Esther got wind of that shit too, and was trying to shake him down for even more each month.
There are sordid details that would just muddy up the story and turn it into something less entertaining to think about, so I'll just leave it at that.
