I bounced off Zelda 1 (and 2) hard as a kid, I was too young and had no idea what to do

It wasn't until Link to the Past where I got into the series and it was OoT that solidified it as my favourite video game series

Why hasn't Zelda become a playable character yet? Fuck the princess shit, time for her to become a blood thirsty warrior queen.

Fucking Gamestop, I order the Collectors Edition of Trails of Cold Steel and they send me an open copy of the game with the used sticker half torn off.

Still holding out hope we get female link in the next one

Female Link is such an easy way to trigger people. I just don't know why some are so vehemently against it ever happening in the one major series that could justify it, but meh.

Also, a game based around Linkle could work too. Going off the gist of her backstory, a protagonist that embodies the whole "fake it till ya make it" ideology would be interesting to see.

A black Link would be even better though ;D

Yeah like let's be real here, until this one, Zelda has never had a "story" and link has never been a character. He's barely a step above a custom character or your avatar from Xenoblade X. His personality is Uzu Sanagayama making grunt and tell noises.

Giving him boobs changes basically nothing about the character in any meaningful way to the narrative yet people lose their MINDS

The salt from a black link could power the internet for generations.

Getting flashbacks of people losing their shit over a black guy starring in Star Wars

If they're still on this Link as a player avatar bull, then just make it a create-a-character at some point.

Nah, they should never do that. If they gonna make a female Link, go all the way, don't half-ass it. Same with any skin color changes imo, though I guess that's more flexible. But a female Link, I ain't compromising.

Always wanted this
Saw in some artbook they named him Link so he could link the player to the game
Maybe no girls ever play Zelda 😷

I mean the chances of Nintendo making a Zelda game with a female Link is exceedingly low so I suppose you won't have to compromise.

NOPE

On the origin of the name "Link", Miyamoto had this to say: "Link's name comes from the fact that originally, the fragments of the Triforce were supposed to be electronic chips. The game was to be set in both the past and the future and as the main character would travel between both and be the link between them, they called him Link."

Creating a female link is the same as replacing link with another character. I know that sounds stupid, but follow me. Remove Link, and replace him with a completely different character. Is it still TLOZ for people?
Is this now the same game that people can play over and over like reliving a Christmas memory each year as they age, while their perspectives shift slightly?
This is what it means to people when they are "threatened" with a female link. This is why Nintendo is stuck. If the devs had any stones, they would have had other heroes long ago so that this would have never been an issue. It's the boy in the woods story. They know it, and their bankable audience knows it.

I have no idea how they change this short of younger leadership kicking the old guard out of the way. Old money like their old ways.

Reduced to feeling threaten to have female Link or the option to choose the gender..
Pitiful people is all I can say

103 reviews later and Get Out is still sitting at a 100%

I...damn. I might have plans tomorrow but I need to check and see if I've got time in between to see it.

Sooner or later, a critic is going to give Get Out a bad review. And it'll probably be Armond White.

And Jidenna's Nigerian, of course he's into Africa.

Zelda is a series the can do whatever the fuck they want with. No matter what, the name is going to sell itself, so they can go risky as they want sans worry. Zelda fans will bitch online on forums and message boards, bitch in the game store as they preorder, bitch in the car to the midnight release, bitch on the drive home, bitch as they carefully open the super mega hyper epeen viagra edition of the game, and then sink a day work's worth of time into the game and proclaim it best game ever.

Do female link, Nintendo. See what happens.

White lost his credentials. He can't review for RT anymore.

Somebody going to do it just to "take it down".

I am legit worried about Key now. Is he going to be the brother left in the hood?

Damn near impossible without a guide or having played it back in the day

Maybe it's because I didn't seriously play Zelda 1 until much later in life (Virtual Console), but I found it beatable. Pretty damn hard at times, but beatable. I think I just needed a guide to find that one burnable bush or something.

Fuck Zelda 2.

The "boy in the woods" story is only true of OoT/MM Link. All of the other Links had actual lives. Some even had jobs. I don't think most pay enough attention to notice that the Links are in fact different people. OoT/MM Link was an outcast who had issues because time travel effectively erased all of his deeds, which is something he confides in Twilight Princess Link long after his death. Hyrule Warriors Link was looking to prove himself and gained an ego once he took up the Master Sword. Wind Waker Link was lazy and cared little for adventure. Spirit Tracks Link wanted to drive that train. CDi Link was tired of peace and longed for adventure on a regular basis.

But for a lot of people, they may as well just be the same Link so the nostalgia lives on, like Air Bud. Air Bud died after the first movie.

That already happened. The review I read said that the movie paled in comparison to the great black comedies of old, listing gems like The Nutty Professor 2: The Kumps, Norbit, Little Man, and the Wayans catalog of comedies.

I don't think it was joking.

Wasn't on Rotten Tomatoes though because I'd think that that would damage your credibility to give something a bad review just to take it down a notch.

That said, I'm about to go see it in about half an hour. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Damn this got me.

Also Nintendo just needs to let people choose skin color and gender for Link. Outside of text pronouns his gender isn't required for the stories in any of the games.

Of course they needed new stories to tell, and the times would allow for different approaches. They are having a difficult time removing what they created originally from what it could become.
That's the problem when you mirror your creations after Disney characters that are allegorically tied to wartime reliefs and fables.

Should I state again that I'm looking for them to move with the times and making the changes, and that I'm tracing the steps that lead them to here, and why they haven't?
