It would not. Only as a description for easy reference. I've seen race being used for other fellow workers. "talk to Patrick, goatee, short, only white guy in that department" or "yeah, Maria brought the dessert, you know, the petite Mexican chick with the Cleopatra haircut".
Black as adjective = a-okay. Black as noun = nah son.
If it was me, I'd say it's alright. I actually find it more offensive when people stumble over saying somebody was black when they're talking to me, like I'm gonna beat them up for saying "black". Like they pause for a half second and say it slightly quieter than the rest of the sentence and get all nervous.
