Mechs weren't the center of Code Geass at all though.

I'm not even sure how you can say it's more pretentious than Death Note. Its pretty straightforward from start to finish (with bit of a BSG Season 3 hickup in season 2) whereas Eva was all about some bullshit. Hell, Eva didn't even do anything in its last two episodes because literally words.

I don't think it's more pretentious than death note. But it's still pretty up there. And the Mechs were a huge part of geass.

It's probably because I have 2-3 beers in my blood now, but I feel like cursing that whole Carrie Underwood thread out

I gave up on hot women threads years ago. Western standards of beauty are too socially ingrained for me to give a fuck about them. This is probably the most effort I've put into one lately.

i love the hot women threads. the framing of that one just annoyed me.

I generally hate the "Most beautiful celebrities" threads where members will pinpoint Rihanna, Beyonce or any other token non-white woman, and then proceed to give us pages upon pages of who should be in there place, which basically ends up becoming a laundry list of white women.

Code Geass' story can generally remain intact without the mechs.

Eva? Gundam? No chance.

Maybe we have a different definition for pretentious though

soon.

Edit:
i've never got the Taylor Swift love. face is nice but that body aint about nothing.
If a girl doesn't look like a skinny Asian boy in a bathing suit she's fat, on Gaf.

Swift has the charisma and body language of a 12 year old.

Every time I see her perform for a commercial or see her videos somewhere, I can't help but see an extremely insecure little girl playing pretend into her bedroom mirror.

She does have a gawkiness to her. She seems like she would cry after sex.

My mother once told me, "the life of a dog means more to some white people than the life of a black man does."

I can't handle animal discussions. I was born poor as fuck in the middle of the projects, and animals simply weren't a big part of this culture or area. Growing up, I've had white friends come to me crying because their dog or cat died, and I had no idea how to respond since to me, it's just a damned animal. I have absolutely no compassion for those types of situations. All I can do is dish out a generic "I'm sorry for your loss," but if they push for consoling, I'm left dumbfounded.

I had a friend in middle school whose family dropped thousands on a procedure that MIGHT prolong the cat's situation by a few months. It ended up dying a week or two after. I can't comprehend dropping that many bills for a freaking cat. I guess I shouldn't be surprised when I see pictures of pets on the mantle and wall like they're a part of the family, when people admit they'd likely save their pet in place of a human stranger or when people call for the death of a human who has killed/abused animals, but Jesus Christ... come the fuck on.

My dad always told me stories about his family taking their pets "for a ride" (ie. taken to get put down) when they act up or are in need of medical help. Animals don't mean shit in my family. IF I had a pet, and there's little chance that I would, and a vet told me that it's in need of expensive medication or an expensive procedure, then I'm sorry, but dude's being put down. No questions.

There is a good article on minorities and pet culture. Pets are largely a luxury when you think about it and something that is handled different in minorities communities.

I've had dogs around me since I was born. My family never really took care of them very well. If a dog got sick it better pray to dog Jesus to come help it because no one in my family is dropping money to save a dogs life when you can find a new one for free in the streets.

My dad took many cats/dogs 'for a ride' growing up.

But I got a dog through bad circumstahce, its previous owner couldnt care for him due to her going in and out of a hospital.

He was about a month old and I was recently laid off and I spent months hanging out him and training him.

He got a foxtail in his ear when he was about a year old. It required he be put under for it to be taken out, cost me 600$ that I didn't have cause I was still unemployed. Shit sucked but it wasn't even an option to put him down or take him for a ride. He's my bro.

We cared about our pets but we never paid for most of them. All of my family's cats are cats that walked in from the outside and decided to stay.

There isn't anything wrong with electing to put them down instead of paying thousands of dollars in an attempt to keep them alive.

Just wait.

Once thick bodies start appearing in white women on the regular, shit's going to be accepted and propped up as normalized beauty.

2-3 decades ago big butts were demonized. White women's asses started to juice up, and now it's all good in the hood. Western beauty standards told us lips should be thin but shapely, and then Angelina Jolie comes around and now we've got white women botoxing their lips to look like Tina Turner after a right hook by Ike. Ethnic, dense, nappy, frizzy looking hair was deficient in the presence of soft/straight hair in the 60s and 70s, until white women started doing it on the regular in the 80s and early 90s, then it was beautiful to rock that mulatto-esque hair.

If you don't dig suspense & tension, Basterds is boring as hell. For me, in some spots it worked and in some spots it didn't. Not one of my favorite QT flicks but that's still better than most stuff out there.

Thrillers are amongst my favorite genres, so suspense isn't the issue. That shit was just boring, I guess. It felt like the dialogue was more natural in Django? They're practically the same type of movie. lol.

N-word use was kinda out there. In some spots it seemed almost comical. That nigger is at a bar, that nigger is on a horse, that nigger is riding on a magic school bus. The simple fact that they delivered it with so much malice, lent well into illustrating the larger point at hand. Anybody taking issue with QT over it can miss me.
