They probably think every city in the south is like a time to kill, or like modern florida.

Next time you watch A Time to Kill, notice how everyone is sweating so hard they are shining.

One of the things I notice everytime. And that heat makes me weird about visiting the south. But the food... it calls me when I see those barbeque segments on tv.

I lived in the South for 20 years before moving to the Midwest, only good thing is the food and the fact racists were upfront with the racism.

Midwest ain't that great either though.

i lived in Brooklyn all my adult life before moving to the south a couple years ago and ... honestly, the South ain't that bad!

and honestly, i find the cops down here to be way more tolerable and way less corrupt than the NYPD.

but the internet... oh man... fuck Mediacom! WORST ISP EVER!!!

My sister lived in Georgia for a two years and my brother lived with her for about 6 months. And both have more than a few racist stories to share about it.

My older brother has more racist stories about Georgia in his 6 months there than he has about Southern California in his almost 30 years here.

Might have to do with hispanics being all over the place here and few and far between in many southern states.

I wonder if anybody from GAF who doesn't live in the South has ever actually visited it.

I talk shit about the south but it's not too bad at all and way friendlier. Not to mention those sweet housing prices. Many places are fat as shit though and there are an abundance of Bible-thumpers but I wouldn't mind living
in a big city
in the south.

So

Fried chic Black-GAF, who is your favorite black videogame character? For me, I still love the design of:

Yes, even after the cake soap.

The South doesn't seem bad, I just don't know how I'd feel about needing to drive everywhere.

you haven't lived until a random little kid ask you "how do you make love".

I wish she would get her own game ( in the style re4) but capcom would screw it up like they did 5 and are doing with 6. Worst AI ever but I still love her.

edit: also every rpg I've played threw this gen with a create a character option was done so as a black women.

people don't understand this
you have to be able to drive and have a car to live down here.
if the south had better public transportation I think the quality of life would improve greatly for the people here.

Sazh all day, every day. Him, Lightning, and Fang were the only parts about FF13 I cared about.

I skipped FF13 because of him.
I could be very misinformed but he came off as racist to me made worse by the bird living in his hair.

I was a little worried for that exact reason (chicken in his hair, his weapons were guns, etc.), but he ended up being one of the better characters in the game. Good personality, good va, sympathetic story. I liked him. Certainly an improvement over Barret.

I can't play the new FF games. The demo for the last game made me feel old and confused during battle.

I bought XIII, simply because I was an FF fanboy. XIII made myself become a non fanboy. They really fucked up that game hard. Run in straight line - Fight monsters - Fight Boss - Repeat.

Heller from Prototype 2 is a good one for me. Sure, he swears a lot and kills thousands, but at least he isn't an ex-con.

Goddammit, for all San Andreas did with stereotypes it sure had a memorable cast, thinking back.

I know I will earn Gaf's eternal hate, but modern JRPGS go too hard for style over substance. Except for the Persona and Disgaea guys.

That awkward moment when you get on fb and you see one of your friends like this image
and part of you is like "I shouldn't let this get to me," but then another part of you can't help but find it unsettling.

Not the traditional south, like Georgia, Tennessee or Texas. But I've been to Florida many times over the years. My father built a house in Palm Bay in like 96 The most I spent at one time was two months which was cool. Its pretty slow paced compared to NYC and random white dudes love to give me head nods. I was there last year for a week and a half, drove down to Miami during Memorial day weekend and every black dude there wither looked like Lil Wayne or Rick Ross.

The pan handle is traditional south, you can tell by the amount of meth labs.

Cole Train/Augustus Cole is my favorite black VG character. Stereotypical as hell? Most definitely. Tied with Baird for the most fun character in the series? Damn straight he is. His childlike exeburance never fails to make me laugh. And that Superstar Cole alternate character skin is THE BEST.

Didn't that character sing the ending song for one of the games or something?

"Bring it on sucka, this my kinda shit!"

...those are actual lyrics from that song.

I hated Cole in Gears 1 but by part 2 I hopped aboard the Cole Train.

JRPS are horrible, real talk!

Filled with horrible gameplay and culture club cover band costumes.

I didn't know Japanese rape porn simulators had Culture Club costumes.

Dudley from Street Fighter 3/4

Even as a Christian I wish religion wasn't so tied into being black for so many people.

Uh oh. Did someone finally make that thread?

I've never lived in the south but basically my whole family is from Arkansas so I go there frequently. It's nice to visit when you wanna slow down for a few days, but after a while the way things are run there on a systematic level just get to you.

And yes, the only JRPGs I like anymore are the ones that actually focus on the game. I'm about to finish Persona 4 and am loving Dragon Quest IX right now.

Is America the only country where you lay blanket claims on the population?

despite being culturally diverse from state to state, yep pretty much, which is why i laugh when people get upset that eu vs us comparisons are made.

That lower cost of living must make up for it though, I looked on craigslist and the apartments/houses you can get down there for the money are insane.

eh, not for what what the average person gets paid imo.

Just got done watching The Help after my mom's endless nagging (that life is basically what her mother lived through). Is that the latest movie to go on the definitive list? On that subject, I actually still haven't seen The Color Purple.
