And it is the top-selling PlayStation game of all time.
I think he's talking about the discussions before the game was released. When people saw that you played as a black main character they flipped their lids. Even GAF fell to that:

Oh, don't get me wrong.. The graphics are fine.. I just don't like the theme at all. Just looks like a cashin on the popularity of the thug/gansta look right now... god, I'll be glad when this fad is over.

I saw some white guy dressed like a thug (and he walked like a thug as well) in the mall the other day and I had to just roll my eyes at that... fucking horrible...

Sorry if I seem bitter but I see too many people who look fucking retarted by trying to be something they are not.

These scans turned me off a bit. I don't want to be a pimp :(

Still getting the game though, I have it pre-ordered already.

The gangsta crime culture is _BORING_ AS FUCK. Thats the problem here. It is so limited. A game dedicated to the Triads or Yakuza culture would have been interesting, or what about the Hell Angel's or the russian mafia.

The REAL problem is that black people ain't as cool as white/Italians perception wise. When you think white/Italian criminals; there is an aura of yeah.. the cool factor. Black people; you'd associate with slums and ghettos, pimps, druggies and all the really negative associations (WHICH they've been dealt an unfair hand with). Mention Harlem and nothing really good comes out in relationship to the area. Racial stereotypes are deeply ingrained IMO. White america will find it hard to deal with the theme. I personally can't watch black porn. GTA SA sounds like something I won't be able to get into. (But then I wasn't too impressed with GTA to go run out and buy VC).

I think once word gets out about the setting. This game won't sell that well. (DID DEF JAM sell well?) Fact that Manhunt sold like crap is also indicative that maybe the lustre on violent games is wearing out.

How many weekly threads are there going to be about talking to women.

Until the end of time.
You can say it's easy as going up and talking to them, but for some people thats like jumping the Grand Canyon.
Constantly saying how easy it supposedly is makes those people feel that much worse about it.

I get any social anxiety disorder but with a specific gender? Just realize they're not exotic creatures out in the wild and a twig snapping will not cause them to flee.

and then devo said

"actually i hate this cat beard av, creep"

REJECTION -10 Confidence

you need to buff up your CON/LCK stats for the next random battle

Bad experiences is just reflective of not talking to enough people or trying to chat up that snobby popular cheerleader who's an asshole.

Yeah, I also put lack of experiences. And it's probably worse if you base it on experiences you have when you're younger and everyone's really immature.

its easy to reduce it to that...
but just like basketball, once you get rejected enough you get hesitant to shoot. or in this case spit game.
its just natural.
you either adjust your approach or you let it get in your head and its really to let the latter happen.

im damn sure not the greatest at it but im not the worst, but i know what that feeling of hesitancy and doubt feels like.
i don't think women can ever truly appreciate the leap of faith it takes to make that initial approach just because the nature of the game. women in general arent expected to make the first move, they get to sit back and evaluate offers.

Eh I tried asking a dude out in high school. Rejection isn't specific to men. A lot of women could do well to initiate some stuff themselves though. This isn't the days where men have to ask for your hand.

True.

Reminds me of one of my good friends freshman year who had a crush on this guy on our floor. She'd always send him signals but he'd never give anything back, probably because he didnt even notice. In all my infinite wisdom (after i got tired of hearing her talk about it all the time) i just blurted out one day "why don't you just fucking ask him yourself instead of waiting on him?"

Her response? aside from a gasp you could hear a mile away... "I'm too pretty to ask a guy out." I could only facepalm.
