bitch I'm taking calls.
I'm probably not the best person to ask since I've only the read the screenplay and won't be able to catch a screening until early next week, but from what I read in the script, the film is fairly heavy handed in its criticism of Capitalism and embracing of Socialism. It's pretty damn Liberal in terms of the underlying social issues being explored. It touches on class/(re-)distribution of wealth, immigration, healthcare, capitalism, etc. and it's not exactly cryptic in doing so. It does it in a way that is lazily blatant and in your face.
See, now I'm wondering whether this should surprise me or not. I really, really liked District 9 and was excited to see Blomkamp's name again. But the themes throughout are not at all camouflaged whatsoever in District 9 either, and yet its message still came across well as opposed to blunt so it's possible it could still be a great film.

That's good stuff. After working a bit of retail and heavy customer relation stuff, I know how it feels being on the other end of that transaction for a whole work day. It sucks. Being good to people always works out for the better though.

It's crazy to me how people will treat people who are providing them a service like shit in a retail situation.

What about the inner harbor? Maybe the occurrence of Otakon every year has an affect for that one weekend.

The Harbor is relatively safe year round, after all it's the city's money maker.
All those nice area have the most patrol. But like ReiGun said, you can be at Fells, make a wrong turn and get bopped. Even in the good areas one should be fairly aware.

Two things about Fruitvale Station:

1. Why every single trailer they planned had a predominantly black cast? And you know they had to do that shit on purpose, cuz Terrence Howard struggling ass was in two of 'em

2. Goddamn that was a sad movie brah ;_;

Getting payed low money and having to train people. Can't wait to get over this "pay your dues" phase for industry type shit. >:|

hahaha

it's like when they show all these shitty cartoon trailers when you watch a family film in theaters.

Terrence Howard always sounds like he's about to cry.

I said the same thing right before the movie. The trailer for The Butler looked like a parody.

When JFK was like "I didn't know black people had it so hard...you changed my heart" and that music swelled, I had to tilt my head up to keep my eyes from rolling out

Lee Daniels will never be accused of subtlety

Like I said about that movie with Colin Ferrell and Terrance Howard. How can one movie have so much fail?

Might be related to your theater. My theater they had trailers for Kickass 2 and Gravity, among other things.

The part where he says something to the effect of 'I know what I'm good at...serving' and it shows a younger him holder a silver platter with a coke on it...I was like...oh really? You've always been so gifted at standing still and shutting the fuck up?

What killed me was the time lapse of him shining shoes. This shit makes Tyler Perry look like a master of subtlety.

That's a problem with a lot of black directors at times. They are too fucking heavy handed. I get the message of the movie you don't have to spell it out for me.

TP is the king of heavy handed movies

They think they have to do that for white audiences I bet,

Just watched the Butler trailer for the first time. That seemed cheesy as thee fuck. Some of those lines when he was on the farm good god.

Yeah it looks like a load of shit. I'm sad that Robin Williams came out of hiding for this crap.

Some older white lady said "He's fine" when they showed Boris Kodjoe in the Baggage Claim trailer.

The Best Man Holiday, Taye Diggs/Terrance Howard/Moris Chestnut/Regina Hall, the whole damn crew, guess Gab Union was too busy with her struggle TV show and Vivica A. Fox just couldn't be found

The Butler, which was just...lol

Mandela, which looks better and Idris Elba is dat dude

Black Nativity, a musical starring Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker again, Nas(stay losing), and Mary J Blige lookin' like her tryout for Storm of the X-Men didn't work out

Isn't that pretty standard? It's just selective advertising. When I see a kid's movie, I generally get trailers targeting that age group. When I see a horror film, I tend to see R-Rated films, a lot of which are horror. etc etc.
