God I suffered through that on my illfated Ironman Run....
But nothing beats that feeling when everything is on point and your Assault armed that Alloy Cannon and Close Combat Specialist with back up from Sniper with Squadsight wearing Arcangel Armor and Oppurtunist and In the Zone.

I'd love to play dota or LoL etc. with Satch and Dreams and other friends who have asked me. But I just don't have the patience to learn how to play hardcore (and let's be real, there is nothing but hardcore in that genre; you either go all out or you get shut down) or the tolerance to put up with the kind of thing I hear about the community attitude at large.

LoL's beginner curve is a lot nicer and easier to learn. It doesn't get hardcore until you play ranked - which you can't even do until you put a crazy amount of time in.
DOTA is better at that level though.

Dota is pretty much the only game I play now. Been playing it off and on since 2005/2006, and even used to play it competitively back in the day.
Ridiculously fun game if you can hold your own in it, although it probably has the biggest gap between fun and boring depending on if you're getting absolutely destroyed or not. HUGE learning curve though, so I can see why people feel the way they do about it if they have little to no experience with MOBA's.

The game can be fun but the genre as a whole is stagnant. Everyone just wants to make a DOTA clone with slight changes that they want, nobody really tries to actually try new core elements or actually fix problems that were a result of using WC3 as the base for the original game. I know a couple of them even emulate WC3 bugs/control quirks. It's being refined, but not evolved.

That's fine with me. I'm a fan of DOTA, not the genre as a whole. DOTA is the only MOBA I've ever played, and that'll likely continue to be true for some time.
Thanks. I played Tiberian Sun back in the day and enjoyed it, so I know I'll enjoy these.

Finally got RA's links to show up. There's guides in the original post I made to get them to run.
Also, you can play all of them via Westwood Online still. Maybe on C&C/RA, for sure on Tiberian Sun. Some other company runs WWO and essentially everyone plays plays the game with the same CDKey now.

I remember on the original Xbox using gamespy tunnel service and a LAN cable to trick the console into allowing me to play Halo: CE online with my friend. That and spamming South Park soundboards in mech warrrior matches was my middle school heaven.
You don't have to do this.
They poorly handle heavily implied rape and kind of ruin the rest of the comic/Manga/Anime because of it, and many other shit things.
