I heard the joke growing up so it wasn't exactly shocking, nor is it shocking that a young white kid would hear that joke and then tell it, but then people come out and act like jokes on that level are some higher form of comedy instead of the weak shit they are, and mostly because they just want to say nigger or whatever other slur.

Homophobic and sexist jokes and remarks are still crazy common, moreso when I was a kid (and even more so when you were a kid, I presume). Those are things that many teenagers would have definitely said. Most people wouldn't have gotten beaten for that, I don't think.

Oh and one of Spiderman's old enemies was down with the swirl. But a lot of his old foes seem to have kids popping up.

You have no reason to believe me, but my parents were really big on making sure i didn't say stupid shit when i was younger. And that started from not thinking or believing stupid shit. I used to joke about making my younger sisters go and get food from the kitchen for me, while i sat and talked with my dad, and every single time, he'd berate me for such things. Because sexism. If it was my step mom, she beat me. That's just how it was.
I'm not saying everyone should have been brought up the same way, but i don't buy that kids can't be guided the right in terms of jokes and remarks like the ones we are talking about. I lived more in fear of what could happen had my parents ever gotten word that i said something along those lines, than any thrill of making a joke like that and getting away with it.
My friends in high school didn't make those kinds of jokes. There was nothing cool about dropping n bombs during break time for us.

Oh no, I believe you. I'm saying that other children weren't necessarily guided in that way when it comes to homophobia and sexism. Certainly the black community doesn't enjoy racist jokes against black people, but many teens were unlikely to be taught to avoid sexism and homophobia as you were.
With regards to race... racist jokes were abundant in my high school. Doesn't make them right or anything, but I'd argue it's been normalized for some time now among teens. Friends of different races would go back and forth mocking the other's race. You learn not to do that as you grow older (some don't), but it's pretty common.
I should repeat - that doesn't make it right. It's just not surprising.
