That's sort of the issue I have every once in a while when I see a dude taller than me. I've always, ALWAYS been identified as the big guy and nothing else. Whenever I see someone taller than me (6'7" so it's not that common) I immediately feel threatened, weird, upset, and like my identity is gone. It sucks.

Yeah, I can't stand the "lol reddit" people. There are individual sub-reddits with as much (more?) intelligence and maturity than all of GAF. Obviously that site has problems, but only in the same way that Youtube is a huge site and there are inevitably some people who use it as a platform for sexism, racism and homophobia.
Lately now it's "lol tumblr." The "Dashcon disaster" thread was full of posts that were thinly veiled attacks against the perceived common users of Tumblr: GAF's dreaded young women with feminist ideals.

When i started using it, it quickly became the best product on the market overall.
At present, it is easily top 3 in the affordable class. Its main selling point is how easy it is to set up, and how small it is.
Old video, but i did a short review of it back in the day. (note it now records in 1080p, not 1080i, and the interface has changed a lot as well since the video)
Right now, i'd rate Blackmagic Intensity (Shuttle and Extreme) over the Elgato, with the Avermedia Live Gamer portable on equal footing with the Elgato. (Avermedia quality is slightly better)

The perception of Tumblr is mostly accurate. I'm well aware there are mature sections of the site,
But outward facing, to the untrained eye, it looks like a social network populated mostly by 12-18 year old girls who lose their shit over Supernatural/ Dr Who/ Sherlock Holmes the moment a character turns to look at the screen, and then dream up x-rated scenarios in which they pair off show characters based on what they (the audience) feel should be the status quo.
The hate/ mocking is not new. Not by a long shot. I held off making a tumblr account mostly because of the above. Eventually, i had to for work. I go there in small doses though. Some of the more hardcore stuff within the Assassin's Creed fandom that happens on tumblr would make your head spin.
C'est la vie.
PS: It ain't like GAF has the most sterling reputation on the internet either.

Yeah that's generalization lol. Tumblr is comprised of thousands of communities. When I was using my account there I hardly if ever ran into Doctor, Sherlock, Supernatural BS because I mostly just stick to shit i cared about.

FTFY. I follow a select group of people on there, and it is STILL a lottery if i'll be greeted with two naked assassins going at it on my dash at any given point in time.
Again, no biggie. Like what you like. Just don't take it to an unhealthy extreme. I've seen what that can do.
I'm beginning to sound like a "gatekeeper" of what makes a proper fan so i'll just stop.
