Fuck you on about? I'm a gamer and a feminist. I've been both since the early 80s. If you have issues with 'gamer culture' dating back 10 years, then you assholes stole gaming culture from those of us here decades before that. We were the ones playing Pong and Pac-Man and Zaxxon in the arcade. We were painstakingly saving our BASIC games to tape, and selling baggies full of homebrew for $10 at a tiny table at a con. We sent in disc one of the 5 1/4 in floppies so we could upgrade from the 4 colour game to the 256 colour game. We mourned the 'fire in the factory' in the 90s that raised the price of 1 MG of RMA to $120. We've been making little groups on BBS, CompuServe chat rooms, and D&D cons for our get togethers. We were sharing, always sharing our love of the hobby.

I'm sorry Cindy the Cheerleader didn't fuck you when she saw your Pokemon collection. That's got fuck all to do with feminists and gamers. You young shits come along after and use our hobbies as your shield for your poor social skills and lack of ability to get along in the modern world. Hell with that. Yeah, sure, embrace your loser attitude but don't blame gamers for that, blame yourself. We actual gamers have always wanted to share our passion for games. We always want more, new and different. Gaming is a part of our lives, it's not an excuse why we don't have one.

I grew up under Clinton/Bush and would still rather be called white trash. When I think of a yuppie, I think of a greedy piece of shit who would sell his grandmother awful stocks to make a buck and not even feel bad about it.

Read your take, Silky. I think calling it a 'consumer revolt' is a step in the right direction, and even that is quite a generous substitute for what I would actually name it. It does bring to attention the fact that GG is focused on a product. People need to be reminded of that when they think about going hard in the paint. Your post also brings up the important idea of dismissing an "us vs them" viewpoint. I don't think many would object to a higher standard of ethics in games journalism. That's obviously not at all what the bigger issue has become.

One off topic comment, the text size and font color on your tumblr make it really difficult to read. Followed you anyway, just some feedback.

Sounds like a good read. The thing is, I don't feel the slightest bit opposed to any of the five points outlined in the article. Are they actually meant to be contentious or controversial points of view? I say that as they seem very straight forward but obviously there are guaranteed to be NeoGAF members who feel extremely wronged by the mere existence of these ideas.

Yeah, I have, and I've seen crazy nonsense on both sides. It's one of the reasons why I don't really post in the GG thread anymore.

And as I said later in the post, I really don't blame people thinking the pro side is mostly malice-fueled considering they've done nothing to prove the opposite.

Three things that should be enough for anyone to write of GG completely:

-The hashtag was coined by noted racist, misogynist, and 3rd-string actor Adam Baldwin, who you may also know for his Obama/Ebola theory

-While holding up the banner of "ethics in journalism" and "consumer rights" the targets of their harassment have been exclusively women who are indie devs or freelancers, while they ignore big studios and major outlets

-They were on SPLC Hatewatch, i.e. have been recognized as a fledgeling hate group

As someone working at an indie dev studio, a black man who sees how fearful the idea of new voices can be to some people, and a friend to someone on the receiving end of GG bullshit I don't appreciate GG and normal people being given the same level of consideration

Universal Studios is a great place to be at night. So many bars and one of the best theaters in Orlando.

Random: When you have a wide taste in music...it makes conversation so much easier. Met this super chill chick who digs No Doubt, Lauryn Hill, Xzibit, Oasis and Toni Braxton.

What a coincidence...I listen to all of them too!
