ICON is not the end. It is just the beginning and encompasses 9,999 levels. Grind your little hearts out.

Every 10 ICON levels earns you loot. Every 100 levels up to 600 earns you a free vehicle, including one exclusive.

Customizing Vehicle Performance

  • All vehicles belong to a spec, such as Street Race or Touring.
  • Each vehicle has a max perf level as set by its spec.
  • Loot consist of various rarity items used to upgrade vehicles.
  • These items have affixes as well, up to two on Epic gear.
  • Ivory Tower will introduce Legendary gear during the free Gator Rush event.

All Future Content Is Included with the Standard Purchase

So what's the point of the Season Pass?

  • The Season Pass includes three exclusive vehicles and is the only way to get the Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6.
  • The exclusive car, boat and plane are the only exclusive vehicles.
  • Seven days early access to the two cars added to the game each month.
  • You also get an exclusive home and two exclusive outfits.
  • The VIP discount reduces all in-game purchases made with Bucks by 20 percent.
  • Ubi has hinted at other perks but that's currently vaporware.
  • So to answer the question, not much unless you really love that 911.

Betas were promising a lot more to offer if you didn't like the first game. Still upset they didn't put window tint on the car customizing like wtf?

Best open world racer imo. Variety in travel, best open world design, and lots of content. The photo mode and graphics are top notch. Day 1

I thought they did? Were they locked behind vanity drops maybe?

Nice job Redshirt putting this together.
I enjoyed the first game and I’m looking forward to this one!

I'm interested in this and will pick it up after I finish some stuff.

I loved Test Drive Unlimited over a decade ago and Forza Horizon never tried to do a giant map like that.

Other than allowing higher fame levels, I wonder how the full game will differ from the beta. Like, will it take advantage of the PS4 Pro over the base PS4 in anything other than framerate? Will it have HDR support? Can I turn off (or at least back off) the overdone motion blur? Will the headlights illuminate further than 5 feet in front of the car at night? Will the zoomed out world map still be flat white, or will it look more the Crew 1? Will we get any more landmarks to discover like the first game, or is that just morphed into the photo ops? Will the street signs be more accurate?.......like NOT saying interstate zero or conflicting with directions to various locations?

Guess we'll find out soon enough, but those are things I noticed that concern me.

I have been wondering this myself. The game doesn't look very good (going off my own experience with beta) so HDR would be a huge help. I have a sinking feeling it won't be there at launch though.

The beta demo was as bland as it gets. This is a shambles of a sequel.

The physics are poor and the boats and planes add nothing great. Graphically uninspiring too.

Tried it. Looks and plays much better than what I remembered from the first game. I tried the beta (first game) and couldn't play more than 5 minutes of that shit. The physics were horrible.

Now, having tried The crew 2 beta, I think this is a much better and more polished game. Won't buy it at launch anyways, but probably will buy it at some point in time, when it's discounted.

There's a bunch of perks at ICON level. Didn't get very far into ICON last night, but I did see one for car collision.

Be nice to get rid of that magnetism effect.

So how is the game generally? I'm not one for racing games, but this looks somewhat arcade-y, looks fun with tons to unlock. I generally stick to shooters and RPG games, but I feel like trying something new. The few racers that I've enjoyed are Burnout Paradise and Need for Speed Underground. Thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Yeah. It's definitely arcade-y. It's a caRPG too, so you have to earn loot for your vehicles as well as level yourself up to access perks and tuning options.

Not as much as the first game, but The Crew 2 is a weird racing game in that you can't accurately judge the handling overall or of any particular car until many hours in.

As for story, it serves it's purpose as a framework for the events but isn't very good.

The racing and grind are a lot of fun, and I'm also having a much better time than expected with the photo mode aspect of the game, such as setting up crazy shots to earn followers and bucks.

Redshirt or anyone, Do we have a better sense of the value of the season pass now that the game is live. I’ve been holding off buying for that reason.

I bought it, but I wouldn't really recommend it. I like the Porsche A LOT, but is that worth $20-$30? Doubt it.

The extra house is meh. Same house on the other coast. Extra outfits? eh. VIP discount? Money isn't tough to come by.

Three days "early" access and seven early access for DLC cars is cool, I guess, but again, not enough at $20-$30.

Bombcast (well Gerstmann) was really down on this game. I know hes pretty jaded generally.

Impressions, reviews are just bad..@#$% was sooo looking forward to the sequel..but in the end they messed up badly and took 2 steps back instead of making this game "fire" with so much potential.

I've started to update the reviews. I'll do quotes and whatnot later, but it's just drinking and racing tonight. :p

Edit: If anyone has a particular review you wanted added, just post it.

I hate to say the reviews are pretty disheartening. I got in on the price mistake on Amazon for the gold edition for a bit less than MSRP of the regular game, but now I don't know if it's even worth the $60. Given I don't usually pay full price for anything, I really enjoyed the first game even if I didn't spend the time with it I should have. I love arcade racers, though-- but it sounds like between bad handling and just sort of being an uninspired sequel, this one doesn't have much to offer...

Any other impressions before I just send my copy back and wait for what sounds like will be a very quick price drop? :/

The first one garnered worse reviews. If you enjoyed it regardless, it seems foolish to not even at least try this one.

Yeah. Crew 1 got killed. Became a cult classic.

Not saying Crew 2 will. We'll see. It may be a bit too homogenized for that, but I'm enjoying it.

Edit: Also, NFS: Payback got TRASHED, but I recommend it to anyone who likes arcade/caRPG racers.

I got the gold edition on price error.

I’m not a fan of the boat and plane stuff. Not crazy about off road either. I just want to Street race so I hope it delivers. I actually really liked the first game and the driving feels off in comparison. I’ll sink more time in it tho this weekend

I just googled that game to see if I could pick up a bargain. I can't believe how expensive it is.

It got slaughtered because the industry of review hacks had no concept on how to handle games as service at that point in the gen. It wasn’t unique to the crew. Game was pretty damn good.

I just wish the city I live in was represented.......I go to where my city should be and it's nothing but trees. Come on now, I live in a megatropolis and I see nothing but trees? It would be nice if future updates added more locations, and not just more racing disciplines and vehicles.

While I guess they are called "photo ops" now, I really miss the landmarks from the first one. That's another thing that would be nice if they brought back in future updates.

I also miss how you used to uncover the map as you drove through it in the first one. Now you really don't know where you haven't been yet. Besides finding all the landmarks in the first game, the second most enjoyable thing was knowing I drove down EVERY road in the game. That's my two most enjoyable things about the first game that are just sort of gone in this one.

Just like the first game, it seems like you're really not doing yourself any favors by buying into it early. Right now, you have the basic framework of what the game will eventually become. I feel it's one of those games you can't really review accurately right now because it's not complete yet. Sure, there is currently actually quite a lot there, but we all know there will be so much more by the time they are done adding to it. Future updates will determine whether this is actually a great game or not. Hopefully, they will take the suggestions of gamer's playing the game into account when adding to and tweaking it.

I agree about the map. Feels like a step back in terms of complexity, which is a shame.

I think maybe the addition of planes caused this, which is also a shame for me personally because I will hard mode all of the plane stuff and then probably never touch it again outside of goofing off.

The photo mode landmarks I actually don't mind. It's more interactive. I didn't dislike The Crew 1 landmarks, but it was kind of a collectathon.

Watching some Mixer streams, it looks better than I remember the original looking. The water looks amazing.

Thinking of buying this but unsure. How is the exploration and road trip aspect compared to the first? I loved the first, because I loved just the traveling aspect, being able to do coast to coast races (with fantastic sightseeing), finding hidden car pieces and I loved especially the exploration, so between a race and the other visit locations with descriptions.

For those who bought it:
- Are there epic hour-long races crossing half of the USA (maybe coast to coast)?
- Is the environment, backgrounds and feel as varied as the first one? Especially if there is still the "road trip" element which was present in the first game?
- Are there still lots of car pieces (with levels/rpg style) to earn to customize your car?
- While exploring are there like historic/famous locations that you can visit and read their description/history (like in the first crew game)?
- Have they kept the hidden cars that are hidden in pieces across the map and you have to explore to collect them to build new special cars?
- Are there lots of stats which improve also by leveling (as in a rpg or like the first crew game)?

A yes to most of these questions would mean that I buy it soon; they were the element I preferred. Never liked driving games, but I loved the road-trip element of the first and rpg aspects (by looting and equipping car pieces to customize them and improve stats).

I find it hard to listen to him to be brutally honest. He seems so cynical and jaded about almost anything. Almost like he’s not excited about gaming...
Either way I’m not hearing bad things about this game, but not glowing reviews either so I might wait for a sale before I purchase.

So is my homestate of Minnesota represented? Or is like the first where Chicago takes up half of where Wisconsin should be and then it pretty much skips to the dakotas (with a patch of wisconsin aka dairyland)

Patch of dairy land. Don't blink!

There are long hypercar races. 45 minutes is the longest I think, but that's probably shortened to <30 minutes once your car is leveled up.

The road trip element is still there, but I think many fans of the original feel like it may be a step back. Not a lot. But somewhat.

Lots of loot. I prefer the system this time around except for the fact that loot physically drops and you have to go collect it.

There are landmarks, but it's integrated into the photo mode side game, which is another way to level up. There's no text this time.

There are no hidden vehicles that I know of. Very disappointing.

Yes. There are perks available once you reach ICON levels. I'll post screenshots of the perk system shortly.

In your opinion, if we enjoyed the 1st one should we go for part 2? And I heard currency is no biggie this time around, you could be rolling in Aventadors in no time?

...are you serious..45min races? This can be real life.
