Were you in Houston at Edwards?

I thought that was nuts as well. I knew the year, but not the EXACT date :lol

haha yeah. i was sitting in the back row.

and man, i cant believe that one guy screwed up the villain list. mr freeze in batman forever? psh

Big ups to Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. The music made this intense movie even more crazy intense with their score. I love Joker's theme with the heavy strings and percussions. The opening bank robbery music is awesome.

The music playing at the end of the movie with the confrontation with Harvey was incredible. I think it's "Watch the world burn" on the OST.

great fuking movie!

love the pencil in the head scene! so awesome.

also, love the scene where batman went to hong kong and did his thang.

i thought aaron eckhart was really underrated in the movie.

and fuck man. wow. fuck. it's probably the fastest paced 2.5 hour movie ever. fuck. movie of the decade.

also, i wish they further explained when batman was doing the ballistics stuff and trying to get the fingerprint.

fuck

And this movie had muthafuckin Deebo!! I had no clue. Can this movie get any better!! :lol

Yeah, Aaron Eckhardt did amazing. I'd vote for Harvey Dent any day. I really wish he had more screentime as Two-Face but his overall arc was excellent.

Yeah I thought Eckhart was fantastic. Fantastic casting. And the two-face effects...jesus.

So what did you guys think of the movies set up for the next?

It's not done like in Begins with the Joker card, but it definitely set up the idea for the 3rd film in my opinion.

It makes the guess as to who the villain in 3 could be even harder.

also, stop pussy footing Nolan. Just tell us you will do it after taking a break and doing another movie :(

I'd love to see a third movie with Batman trying to get back into the public's good graces. It'll be interesting to see who they introduce as the main villain cause honestly, after the Joker and even to some extent Two Face, anybody else will seem nowhere as threatening.

Did anyone here go to the Univeral Imax? The print was late, so the guy said we could come again on friday to watch it for free! I'm going to call as soon as I wake up to confirm...also I lost my wallet so I'm totally :| right now

My Favorite parts of the movie:

Watch the pencil disappear! :lol
"So you want to be able to move your head?" :lol

Everything about the batpod. When he was going straight for the wall and did a dead stop i was like OMGWTFISTHISSHITTHISISTHECOOLESTTHINGIVEEVERSEEN :O and when the wheel spun when he drifted.

The interrogation scenes were awesome

All of the action scenes were AMAZING

there was just so much stuff about this movie that was great I can't remember everything...

Gary Oldman says don't listen to what Nolan is saying right now, Oldman says he is sure Nolan will do a third film. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman on the Today Show also said there will be a third one.

Just got back from seeing it. I am so glad I had a media blackout on this film. Not so glad someone spoiled Two Face for me regardless.

The hospital explosion scene was... so amazing.

Long movie is loooooooong. But I suppose that being the film's biggest flaw says something about how good it was. The Joker....oh my god, this has to go down as one of the best villainous roles in recent movie history. When he stuck his head out of the cop car he was driving, man you could almost see the crazy. The worst part about that is he made some of the other roles look a bit hokey. Bale's Batman in particular was a little weak, and I'd say he played second-fiddle to the Joker. But still, all round it was an impressive film.

I loved how Joker kept changing his story about how he got his scars, his whole performance had me enthralled, especially the little arms flaps in the nurse outfit! :lol

They may as well retire the character, because the Joker and Ledger's performance will be synonymous now, and I don't think anyone could accomplish something that would stand out like it. That said I think they had much more to give from the character, but it wouldn't feel right now. Not for a long, long, time at least.

Can someone explain the "You will shit bricks" picture in the RottenWatch thread? I just saw the film (early Australian release - Fuck yeah!), but I don't get it. :(

The nurse and the pencil trick! :lol

hey could reintroduce Joker in another restart in the future. I can't see them using another actor in continuation of this line of Batman films, I don't think anyone could copy that performance and make it seem like the same character.

It's a shame because the Joker did mention in the film that he and Batman would be forever entwined or whatever forever, which seemed to imply that they'd make him a recurring character in future films, or one more film at the very least.

I also felt Gotham Knight probably would've been much much better had it explored not just Batman, but characters like The Joker. Good thing it was no indication whatsoever about how The Dark Knight would be.

I didn't feel it being long at all, I enjoyed it through and through. I knew it was going to be a long film before seeing it, but I was never really reminded of that fact while watching. The film just kept moving from point to point, I was on the edge of my seat, so to speak, pretty much as soon as it began until the title showed up at the end.

I loved the entrance Bruce makes to his party. He one-upped his entrance to the hotel he made in Begins.

About the next movie, way back when Begins was released I remember reading about the planned trilogy that Goyer and Nolan had come up with. First movie was Begins, second movie was supposed to be about the Joker and the introduction of Dent. And the third movie was supposed to be about the Joker on trial and the birth of Two-Face.

Obviously that's not how things worked out, so I'm curious to see what they would do next. I'm not sure what villains they could use to come even close to the menace of the Joker. I guess they could throw Catwoman in there as an anti-hero with a romantic angle for Batman, but who would be the real baddie?

Makes me wish so much that Heath was still around, now they have to work their way around Joker, or cast someone else. :(

I never recognized Heath Ledger behind the paint. He simply was the Joker. All his scenes (the interrogation scenes with Batman and Gordon and their "Good Cop, Bad Cop" routine just nailed it perfectly though, perfectly), the psychological embrace of his very presence, it was amazing. I seriously cannot think of one spot or place where he made a mistake or took a wrong turn with his performance. The last time I saw something that impressive from an actor was Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood. He's head and shoulders above almost every villain on screen, including Nicholson's version of the Joker. If the world was fair, Heath would get the Oscar nod for supporting actor. It was that special, and lifted the film from good to breath-taking.

And the Joker is definitely not coming back. They're going to have a challenge picking out the next villain to round out the trilogy.

i'm having a tough time trying to figure out what scene this still is from:

Can someone summarize what the Joker says to Dent in the hospital to make him go crazy? Two-Face looked so awesome i didnt pay enough attention to the story.

Also during the interrogation part i thought Batman said he was going to get Rachel, did Joker trick him?

The fucking pencil. OMFG it was beautiful :lol

So where did you sit? I was right in the middle, as I got there 3 hours early and hung out with my buddy playing Tetris on his phone and the people wearing Citizens for Batman shirts.

If you didn't read my partial review in the Rottenwatch thread, good fucking God did I love this movie.

Basically he convinces him that he isnt to blame but that its everyone else.

1. Joker finally corrupted the white knight. In Dent's time of weakness, the Joker convinces him to go after the ones that killed Rachel indirectly (gordon/(ramirez/maroni/wortz/).

2. Either Joker intentionally tricked Batman or that he just didnt have a good memory. I'm thinking it's the former.

Joker tricked him. He knew Batman would go after Rachel.

That said:

1. I've seen the "why so serious" gazillion times in the trailer but when he says it in the movie... HOLY SHIT!!

2. Movie was LONG? It wasn't long at all. I hate all the reviewers that said "its 30 minutes long". When i read that, i was expecting LOTR-ish bullcrap where movie ends 30 minute earlier but they show the gang leaving in boat. I wasn't expecting the movie to end that quick. Not at all.

3. The creation of batpod made the entire crowd nuts :lol

Harvey Dent's revenge arc needed more screen time to be convincing. Here's hoping for a director's cut. :D Anything to make this movie go longer. :D :D :D

It was JAM PACKED! I wanted to save some seats for my friend who were later but i messed up the counting and one of my friend had to sit alone. I felt bad :(

I was there early (7:30) and i was maybe 40th in line. I got back row seats (a bit to the left though) which are always perfect for IMAX :)

I was there from like 6, 3-4th in line :D ...I was in the 2nd back row, dead center :D
the guys beside me were jokes

*IMAX! With sound so precise you could hear a pin drop*
*ding*
guy:well technically that was triangle....

Damn it, I want to watch Gordon's final speech again. The more I think about the ending, the more I like it.

"Why's Batman running?"

"Because we have to chase him."

Oh man, I was watching that, and it was just pure brilliance. Especially if Harvey is really dead, because now it leaves the third one open to be a focus on Batman again. The cops chasing him, hounding him. Maybe his resurrection into a positive light in Gotham, as mentioned earlier.

But man, right now, I just think it is perfect. Maybe do something Dark Knight Returns-esque and have Gotham deteriorate once more, with Batman returning to reclaim his throne once the people need him again. Maybe have Bruce Wayne try to change his regular persona into a Harvey Dent like figure who can unite the city and make it better. I don't know, I'm not of the high mind like Goyer and the Nolans.

But if they ended it here...I could be okay with it. Especially since we can't have Heath as the Joker again (not that I think he would have been a big part in the third movie were he still alive). Like, watching Begins and Dark Knight back to back...I'd call it The Rise and Fall of the Batman. Just so awesome.

I was in the middle, about 3 or 4 rows from the back. I was sitting right behind 5 or 6 guys wearing those citizens shirts, they were from chicago i think?

If Joker's jumping and sliding down that mountain of money like Scrooge McDuck is not a NPD gif, GAF fails.
Speaking of which, did anybody notice how they just let Lau burn on top of the money pyramid, and completely ignored him? :lol :lol I thought it was hilarious. Man, so many great Joker moments on the film.

Ah, I might have missed you. Yeah, most of them were from Chicago, one dude was from Muncie who was there with two chicks and an old guy. I was in the row right in front of those peoples, right behind one of the guys painted up like the Joker (the one NOT handing out those cards).

Oh, and when the Joker said that line about "you and I could do this forever", I cried a little on the inside. ;_;

As for future villains, I think Riddler could work. I've heard suggested many times that they could make him more like a Zodiac type of villain, as opposed to Batman 3's riddler.

It's just going to be so hard trying to top Joker

Holy crap I forgot about him after he started burning the money. Awesome. :lol

That could be a good way to go with the Riddler. But the problem is that even with that take, it's too small in scale. Ras' was trying to take down the whole city in Begins and the Joker had the whole city running for their lives in Knight...

Who or what else could they build up to that level?

Yeah that reminds me. There was a scene in the TV spots where Batman was running on top of police cars. Maybe we'll get more deleted material on the DVD/BR release.

They could make a adaptation of the "No Man's Land" story line in which gotham is literally destroyed by an Earthquake, the USA government declaring Gotham shut down and the criminals take over, leaving batman and gordon and a few others to maintain the order. Or do the knightfall storyline. I don't know. But whatever nolan has next, i completely trust him. That is if he does the third movie.

There absolutely has to be one more film. The way the arc has gone so far, it really IS quite similar to the original Star Wars trilogy, and I just can't see Nolan ending things on such a bleak note. Whereas BB was triumphant, TDK was the complete opposite; Joker ultimately won. But you have to think that after Ledger's death, Nolan's stance might've changed a bit, and not just because Ledger may have been planned to star in the third film; I can't imagine how such an untimely death like his could effect a director. Though a third film might not even be Nolan's decision... not sure about contracts and whatnot.

Regarding Dent: I was pretty shocked that he died. I was almost certain they'd introduce him late in the film and have him be a "carry-over" to the potential next one. But I think it was a good move, in the end; you can only have a character be so motivated and so evil due to lost love for a short while before it gets corny. But in all, Eckhart's performance was great, and the effects on Two-Face were fucking unreal.

What a perfect ending. Showing the true sacrificed of Bruce, putting on his vain and useless persona for his public existence, giving his life and challenging his "symbol" as Batman to the citizens of Gotham by convincing the public, criminals, and cops that Batman will kill. And explaining how he and the Joker will go on forever. They are the yin and yang, the unstoppable force and immovable object. I love it. It set the stage for an entire Batman mythos that we know exists, but doesn't need to be seen. Really, there doesn't need to be a sequel, and since Heath is dead, right now, I wouldn't care if they didn't make one.
