Anyone gonna watch the race today? ...Anyone? Here's a tip: don't actually watch the race; just sorta leave the TV on, and do something else. Then whenever you hear the announcers go apesh*t over something, turn your head and watch to see what happened. Or if you've got PIP, use that.

They're doing the invocation now, and the National Anthem. Engines about to start.

Figured I'd give it a shot. o_O

I've had a thousand and one things keep me from watching the race today, which has pissed me off. First time in years that I haven't been able to watch the race.

Managed to catch the last 15 laps though. Dale Jr's pass for the lead was amazing, too bad it didn't last. Stupid Gordon. Ah well.

haha I love it when Gordon wins, eat it haters!

:lol Agreed...anything that pisses off the majority is a good thing. Saw his car along with a cutaway of Jimmy Johnson's at the auto show yesterday, so it was good to see the 24 take the checkered flag.

I caught the first 15 laps of the race, took a nap, then woke up in time to catch the last 20 laps. And earlier tonight I throw it on Speed Channel, with someone saying that's how the Daytona should be watched. :lol The last 10 to 12 laps were pretty exciting stuff, though it's kinda sad that that one sector of the race had more lead changes then the rest of the race combined. Hell, the 24 hours of Daytona had more lead changes, which (if you know anything about that race) is ridiculous.

I'm a Gordon fan, so I'm amped he won today. No, I'm not a bandwagonner, I've been a Gordon fan since I was a DE fan. One of the few who liked both. Anyway, it looked for certain that Earnhardy Jr. would have won today. Something DW and the other guys in the booth didn't mention was the tire situation. Wasn't the #8 car one of those that stopped for fuel and tires with like 30 to go? Gordon and Stewart stayed in front. Anyway, Jr. came up like a rocket, and would have won had he got some help at the end. But I think everyone's learned their lesson with those DEI cars and no one ran with him. Jimmie Johnson hung Gordon out to dry a couple times at the end there too, and he got 5th as a result.

Today, Jeff showed he still got what it takes to outrun the best. He was strong early and stayed out of trouble. At the end, he was charging the whole way. He didn't have the fastest car on track, but he made the right moves at the right time. He should have been champ last season if it wasn't for NASCAR's even phonier championship points system. The normal points are lame enough, now it's trivialized the whole season. Anyway, Gordon shoulda had #5 last season. I don't know if anyone will be able to match Petty's record of 8 at this point. But at least Jeff's still got a good shot at passing Earnhardt and Elliot in wins in the next few years. PEACE.

I gained new respect for Gordon when I saw him take that BMW Williams F1 car around the Indy F1 course in 2003. I think he was only one or two seconds off the slowest pole time from the previous year, and he was still getting used to the brakes ridiculous stopping power, slowing up far sooner then he needed to on turns. Clearly the guy is a natural driver talent, and I've always been partial to such guys. Just a shame he wasn't able to compete in the recent Race of Champion's, which his USA team won a couple years ago. Tony Stewart is another guy who seems to be good in anything with a wheel, so I kinda like him too despite being a prick. :lol
