Ever since Bowie and Prince died..darkness, darkness everywhere. I hope this year just ends already.

In seriousness though, I think it will eventually come down to the debates, I'll try to stay optimistic till then.

If you're on cnn Trump is doing his speech addressing Bernie, emails, etc.

I can't believe what he is saying... fuccckkk:(

He talks about Hillary is disloyal for firring DWS. "She sold her dear friend debbie under the bridge in less than ten minutes"

"She worked very hard to rig the system. Little did she know that russia. china came in and hacked system. I guarantee we'll find the 33,000 emails" *applause*

If people think questioning his religion wasn't going to happen, either...

Trump literally did it to Clinton less than a month ago but that didnt seem to inflame any staunch defense

My favorite possible line was when Sanders in his early days called for oil and gas companies to be seized by the government without compensation.

Yeah, that would've gone over well.

He was the one talking about Bernie supporters first - I just re-worded his phrase to show it goes both ways.

And we'll never know how the primaries would've fallen without the DNC collusion against him, but he got 46% of the pledged delegates even swimming upstream against the party.
We know how the primaries have fallen without DNC collusion, it's called the 2016 Democratic Primary.

Most of Sanders's delegates came from undemocratic caucuses, but I don't hear you complaining about that. Neither am I whining about how 'unfair' it was. Only one of them is a sore loser who won't admit that he was defeated fair and square, and it isn't Hillary Clinton, who had the grace to admit defeat in 2008.

When Sanders supporters lost, they didn't stop to evaluate themselves. Your post is proof of it: complaints of unfairness, of a rigged system. Never once did these supporters, like you, venture to admit the problems were grown at home within his supporters and within his campaign, and that Bernie Sanders also used the media and the system to his advantage all the same.

Trump is just bullying Pence the whole time, that guy has no self respect. Then again for the job as VP of the USA I would do some nasty things too prob.

Haha, yeah sure. Whatever you say.

He is going to be eaten alive in those. He can barely speak about foreign policy. "We are going to make things great, so great! It will be tremendous."
yeah, no.

It doesn't matter, when he insults and talks over, it will just further appeal to his voters.

Sanders would be great against Trump, especially in debates
You do not know this, and you have no way of knowing this. What we do know is that Sanders lost his primary run. We know he received the most positive media coverage relative to Clinton. We know he was not the focus of GOP attacks. We know he was aided by Republican super-pacs, notably Rove's American Crossroads. By every objective criteria Bernie Sanders was a weaker candidate than Hillary Clinton, and over 3,000,000 people decided he was not the man to lead the Democratic Party this November. This is reality.

I recognize the last week has given many Bernie supporters an understandable feeling of vindication, and We-Told-You-So'isms are going to run rampant. You and others can repeat ad nauseam how Sanders was a better candidate and you can point to notoriously (and sometimes hilariously) inaccurate GE head-to-head polling to strengthen this claim, as we're doing now in this thread. But I believe pointing to hypothetical debates he could win and hypothetical votes he could garner is a silly look when he had a chance to win actual debates and gain actual votes and could not.

I'm kind of okay with Dems freaking until November.

Give them a reason to come out.

If only Dems could stay terrified to keep support invested, and polling show a wide Clinton victory to sway undecided bandwagoners, we'd be set.

He's going to be one on one forced to debate policy. You think he can actually do that?

He won't need to, he'll just need to keep changing the subject and bringing up any one of the myriad of topics that Hillary is uncomfortable answering.

It will just devolve into chaos until the moderators "move on", and Trump will come out of every round having said nothing of substance, but Hillary being dragged into the mud.

In case you haven't noticed, the american public barely cares about things like knowledge and intelligence.

It depends. If he gets caught flat footed to the point where he can't name world leaders or describe a situation somewhere else in the world, and it happens repeatedly and Hillary can answer the same questions competently and embarrass him then I think it'll have an effect. While it won't sway his die hard supporters, anyone who was luke warm about him but also isn't a fan of Hillary might be talked off the ledge if they can see that he is a bumbling idiot who doesn't really understand enough about the world to serve as commander and chief.

Hopefully with good moderators, they can nail him on specifics and he won't be able to just "I'll make it great, I'll hire the best people, ISIS is doomed!" his way out of it.

GE debates are not the circus primary debates are. Yes, he will need to.

Absolutely.

Its also why I hope this convention isn't all puppies and rainbows purely to contrast optimism against Trump's law and order dystopia. There's a wide swath of the electorate that is scared and angry, and they need to be reached out to directly.

The fact that Trump has gotten this far should freak everybody out. And deadly incidents in the world, of which there is no shortage of, and especially close to the election could turn the tide quickly.

Trump just said Kaine has been awful for Virginia and then changed the subject.
No explanation why.
Appeals to the uneducated indeed.

There needs to be a 24/7 news channel that is just constantly fact checking Trump's statements.

It won't sway his supporters because they don't actually care about facts and reality, but it would be hilarious to listen to.

After having made that post I need to make one quick point here.

The people you're talking about are not Bernie Sanders supporters. If they were they would listen to him saying that Clinton is the best candidate.

The people you're talking about have no candidate. They have nothing except an inchoate sense of rage and a willingness to allow white nationalism to take over America.

His inability to debate policy sure has crippled his campaign thus far...

Again one on one is an entirely different dynamic. That and primary debates are worlds different because you are not getting attacked from the other side. Seriously watch the format of past Pres debates. Trump has not had that.

I believe the moderators are there to ensure the canidates stay on topic and are required to keep on topic. there wont be a back and forth, they will take turns with allotted time.

if im wrong, sorry.

Hillary will have to nail Trump hard and decisively in that first debate. Do we know who is hosting? If Trump gets his zingers in and manages to keep dodging direct questions he will "win" the debate and then refuse any additional debates.

yep he needs to be made a fool of instantly

Drinking game DNC2016

Whenever something happens that makes you not want to vote Democrat, and yet have to because Trump is worse, drink.

I think it'll come down to the college. Trump might win the pop vote and lose the college vote.

It's one thing to skip a Republican debate, it's another thing entirely to skip a General Election debate.
We know, we know, he can do anything he wants but that just won't fly.
