The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

I see what you're saying, but i found myself really liking these number games. And as i grown older i appreciate the longer TTK games compared to the twitch shooters as it allows for more tactical gameplay over pure first hit kill.

So in my case i think this'll be really cool. Beta on PC will tell in my case, but damn have i waited long for this -_-
pretty much. I like RPGs so I am really looking forward to this. This setting is very interesting a different for an RPG. super hyped to party up with you all here.

You think they'll lock map areas to paid DLC?

Definitely. Either dlc or full fledged expansions. They will likely work on polishing the small section they are focusing on for initial release then all that work they did on other map sections will flow right into dlc.

Looks better than I expected. I have no issues with the 'bullet sponge' element. If the gunplay is great, with impactful shots, great sound design, satisfying bullet impact and big variability in gun customisation, I don't see why a bigger health bar is a problem.

Pretty good video talking about the map controversy.

None of the areas we saw in 2013 are in the game......damn

this blows my mind though.....We are nearly a whole games map away from even reaching brooklyn. All that original area we saw will be DLC or an expanion.....look how much is not going to be included.

Oh. my. fucking. god.
You have disappointed me, Massive.

Guys, do we have 100% solid confirmation from Massive that the map we saw in 2013 is NOT in the game anymore? If not then I suggest we just wait and see.

It could be like Destiny, TES:O etc, where we have multiple "Open Zones", with more opening up the further along we are.

These YouTubers only played a limited and unfinished part of the game so they would have no way to tell for sure.

Dark zone could be a huge grief fest lol.

I'm interested in this game, but I was interested in Destiny too and was not fond of it. This feels similar.

There's a Marco Style on YouTube who follows The Division religiously. He posted a video a few weeks ago on how Brooklyn was completely removed from all marketing material and not mentioned in the alpha.

Those areas are likely going to be Season Pass content, but Ubisoft is likely keeping that under wraps until they see sales numbers. They are going to allocate money for DLC appropriately after seeing how the game performs.

It's probably still gonna be hella big, especially since it's all connected.
In terms of space to move around, Destiny in total wasn't a big issue, the issue came from that total space being split into multiple planets

Jesus this is kinda looking bad then isn't it... I'm struggling to see why Massive would just throw away a massive part of the map.

Surely it wouldn't try pulling a Destiny and locking on disc content away? The backlash would be real.

What might have happened is Massive had this really big map planned out last year, but then realized it would take absurdly long to finish, so they might have had to work from the ground up, which would semi-explain the delay the game got

I feel like it's more along the lines of they couldn't produce the entire map they wanted within Ubisoft's time frame.

So they had Brooklyn graphics and assets done and then just created Manhattan out of nowhere?

I bet it's like Destiny where they have a shit ton of content very far along and we'll get it bit by bit.

True, the delay would have given them the time to do that. Thanks guys, I just needed some kind of clarification.

Edit: They probably will include the parts that are yet to be finished as DLC. It'd help extend the life of the game significantly if they have the content to give us. I don't condone this kind of behaviour in anyway but it seems like the most logical step in ensuring the game stays popular for a long time.

Which is not inherently bad as long as its not all done before the game ships.

Slow phase of content is better than a massive slam for these games if you ask me.
Hopefully they'll go more the Diablo 3 route compared to Destiny.

big problem this gen is over promising or showing material and then under delivering even with delays. It seems Dev's are not making realistic expectations on budgets when making video games anymore and then when they hit the snag.....pull an insane amount of the game from the original vision for DLC later because they couldn't finish it within a budget.

I do have to say though, I could never even be mad at Massive for not releasing the entire city right now.

I mean, have you properly looked at the detail in this?
It's fucking insane really. We have an open world city with detail down to the smallest thing and crazy recreation of real life locations.

I don't really know another game showing such a detailed city in an open world game.

How can this company get away with this bullshit? Downgraded graphics, terrible hit detection and super powered opponents that can take about 30 shots (hits) with a heavy machine gun and a grenade... and still not die.

Youtube... I know.

Almost 30 shots (hits) with a heavy machine gun and a grenade... and he's still not dead. And when the bullets hits he's not reacting at all. He's just standing there taking bullet after bullet while changing the mag.

I have canceled my pre-order. I will buy it because it looks fun but not for full price. I will wait a couple of months after the release when it hits the bargain bins for <€15.

I played the Alpha and honestly at the time I thought the downgrade was minimal but when you show it like this then I guess I have no argument. To be honest and just speaking generally now (let's presume we never saw the E3 reveal)the game does actually look really good but the biggest downgrade is actually the character Animation system, it's more obvious if you check the E3 2014 footage. They took a shit ton of animations out and it just looks like hairy bollocks now

This is one thing that Ubisoft games always have going for it.

They nail the areas down.
Look beautiful.

Gifs dont prove much when it comes to "downgrades".
Also people seem to forget 99.9999% of the footage is from a console, and the least powerful at that. Im not sure what you expect.

Lets see how it looks on a high spec PC and then we'll talk "downgrade".
After Watchdogs, is anyone really surprised?

The Division suffered massive delays too, what they spent that time doing is anyone's guess.
WD is not Massive.
Also huge game with amazing details from a real city? Its not as easy as it sounds.

I will buy this game after it is eventually properly patched on PC. One question, I know the game is online only, but can I play it alone? I don't like playing with other people.

Hi thread
I found a site that is offering 150 keys to the Closed Beta but didn't know if it would be ok to post the link in here because there isn't a thread dedicated to the beta yet
What ya'll think

See this looks good, I wonder if there are any differences between console versions? We only have to wait a few more days until we see some proper ultra PC footage.

Nah. Jackfrags just uses very good capture hardware and knows how to upload it. Like he says uploads it in 1440p to trick youtube in using higher bitrate. ;)

I don't really care if they didn't have the budget to include Brooklyn in the final game, just don't fucking show it before release at E3 and other events.
Show it after as DLC.

Damn, people here sure are out for blood. I get that some are frustrated by Ubisoft and all but why can't we keep the "how can they get away with lying?" AFTER the game comes out?

FWIW: I played the Alpha and it wasn't pretty. But I had fun with it and I'm now hoping the finished product runs smoother and is prettier
on PC
