How does that not sound good at all?
I'm making a bunch of assumptions here and hopefully I'm out to lunch (still very excited for the game)... but I think I understand where the worry is coming from.
They stated BiS gear can be obtained through the DZ and through the PvE experiences. If the endgame PvE is as shallow as 'repeat the last mission on hard+', it will either be fairly trivial to find endgame DZ drops or pointless since you can just go repeat one mission over and over again.
If the PvE experience does in fact cap off at 'beat the last mission on hard+', you're going to get a TON of people (most people?) just grinding that over and over again to get BiS, then running off to the DZ to PvP. At this point in the DZ, the whole mechanic of finding loot, extracting etc. becomes moot.
If you had any sort of success in the beta, you probably hit the point where the loot was irrelevant. If you had a halfway competent team, in a few hours you geared up to the point DZ credits were useless as well. imo the DZ loses a hell of a lot of its appeal at that point
Maybe they meant BiS can be obtained through PvP or crafting (not as drops in PvE) but I'm not sure that would change much either (grind PvE to collect mats... repeat).
tldr; I fear that at some point the concession was made that they can't gate BiS gear in the DZ and due to the strongest DZ mechanics being tied to loot, DZ longevity is going to be directly tied to the PvE endgame which, so far, appears to be very shallow.
