Aww, last day in Greece and I see this lil' ol' thread hits a milestone, and I get a mention.

*feels warm and fuzzy inside*

There should be a thanks to all the people who made this thread as awesome as it was, for as long as it was. :)

I've never used burden poisons - what do they do? Is it like getting over-loaded for the player, and you can't move at all? Do they stack like other poisons?
Yeah.
They just stand there, unable to move.
Hours of fun for the whole family, ages 9-99.

Just got the game today along with my 360...HOLY SHIT!.. The world is sort of small compared to morrowind, but still..HOLY SHIT!

Am I the only one that spent an hour and a half on character creation alone?

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
Oblivion makes RE4 look like a pile of puke!

WOW @ Thread!!!

I remember trying to keep up with this thread when it first started but gave up after we hit 20 pages...

I am sorry to say have not played Oblivion in months but this make me want to get back into it (maybe even restart with a new guy).

Really? I'm going to start combinging those with damage health poisons - they're stuck, can't move, and having their life tickle away. New ways to be an SOB!

I'll test it out on some old lady when she comes home at night. :D

How often does a 10,000 post thread come along? 200 pages seems pretty damn huge.
Here's something I didn't know until a few months ago: you can click on the headers on the forum to sort the entire archive. So clicking on the "Replies" header (between Views and Last Post) will sort the entire forum by number of replies, bringing the ones with the most posts to the top.

Give it a shot. :D

LOL... what a 10,000th post. Wow.

Sadly I sold my copy of Oblivion a few months ago but the time I spent with it was awesome. I still remember the first day I spent playing it. I just had this huge smile on my face.

Quick question...WTF is up with this "Your Murder has been observed by an unknown force" bullshit? Can you not murder people without getting caught anymore?

Not only that, but if you visit certain places you can also get STDs if you´re not well protected or dont have enough skill ;)

Congrats for the 10k posts. I´m still playing the game, although progressing really slowly and as i want to avoid spoilers i havent visit the topic much at all

Wow, we got there. Now don't let it die!

The Oblivion retail box should have a little notice saying "Official GAF thread has 10 000+ posts".

Yesterday was the first day in a month that I didn't play Oblivion but I'll catch up during the weekend.

Woo hoo! We made it. GAF: Mission Accomplished! :D

When I went to bed last night I knew we'd be over 10k when I got in this morning. I was hoping to be the one to get the 10,000 post, but it's hard to argue with the post itself! :lol

Thanks to all the regular guys who stuck with this for all the weeks. Ghaleon, Speevy, Dr. Cogent, raYne, Nerevar, LakeEarth, and of course SteveMeister and Vark! We couldn't have hit 10k withiout you guys!!

This thread is a testament to how much Oblivion rocks.

Amidst the celebration, I'll go ahead answer this... :D

The murder you committed wasn't observed by the authorities. It was observed by the Dark Brotherhood. The next time you sleep, you'll get a special visitor, and an opportunity to play the best damn questline in the whiole game. Enjoy it! :D

I got the game recently as well. I had my doubts because I wanted to like Morrowind, but really couldn't get into it. Oblivion starts out much better though, so I got used to the pacing and the way it's meant to be played before giving up. :p

I have to say that movement is a bit on the slow side, the combat is quite clunky and its performance (PC ver.) doesn't always seem as stable. Also, the main quest's story is just silly, but oh well. I'm about ~15 hours in or so and I'm loving it so far; the world is huge and beautiful and there's just so much to see and do. :)

But I had a bounty...I'm doing Galthier's quest btw.

The bounty wouldn't be related to that message at all, although someone else might have seen the murder as well. That message only relates to the Dark Brotherhood and their observation of you.

So...are you leaving this thread or what, Kung Fu Jedi? ;)

Anyway, I just contracted (?) vampirism while doing a thieves guild quest! Is this good or bad? Are there any special quests you can do as a vampire (except getting rid of the disease of course)? Are there things I should do before curing myself?

I figured it may have been related to the dark brotherhood but wasn't sure because of the bounty. I'll tinker with it..

But yeah guys, Oblivion=cocaine. I played Morrowind for well over 100hours and hardly even bothered with the main quest... I see the same thing happening here.

It's mostly a different style of play. You turn a bit more powerful and gain some special abilities, especially if you don't feed for a few days. The offset is that you take massive sun damage and look more and more like a vampire, meaning people start reacting badly to you. It can actually impede progress in quests when you look to freaky for anyone to want to share information with you.

Personally, I ****ing HATED being a vampire and got rid of it as soon as I could. And considering how huge the cure quest is, that wasn't very soon at all.

But, some people have had fun with it. Try it out for a while.

Game is amazing....I actually woke up at like 4:00am to start playing it again, I havn't done that in AGES..

OT: Why do 360s sound as though they are on the brink of exploding?

Your skills progress ALOT faster than in Morrowind(which is great)..The fighting is more intense, I can't just mindlessly hack away which is refreshing. The World is stunning..I've explored maybe 1/10 of it and have already experienced several breath taking sights.

This is alreay pretty close to squashing Morrowind as the greatest
western
RPG I've ever played.

Worth going through the experience the full game..I had a seperate "vampire save" In morrowind--I'll likely do the same here at some point.

Because they ARE? Dunno, but mine makes me nervous as well.

That's one thing I love about this game. The combat feels like a great action game, not an RPG. There's something really satifying about the way swords clash and bounce off of shields, and the strategy that goes into some of the brutal battles. It's great hack'n slash game, AND a great RPG, all rolled into one.

I´m a vampire also, got the disease in an infested cave at the south of skingrad.

Its interesting and does have its advantages/inconvenience as GhaleonEB said. You get stronger and more agile and get some abilities like a very powerfull charm but also can get in lots of trouble when traveling and to get info.

I´m looking for the cure but i´m enjoying the experience. It was amusing to finish the "order of Virtuous blood" quest in this state. And ironic, i even fed on one of them :lol and they granted me with being an honorific member.

I just hit 16th level last night.
The dark brotherhood paid me a visit after beating the grand champion...didnt see that coming.
I found two more oblivion gates last night on my way to the inn of dark "somthing" or other
My horse was lost (dunno if it was killed ) due to a deadra chasing it for miles ..eventually i lost trak of them and got ambushed by two bandits & a bear.

Bears are the bane of my existance ... my god ... one missed block ... and it's over.

The only thing that saved me was a knecklace of water walking ... and i had not saved for almost a hour. "whew"

I'll hang around a bit for the celebration today. Still answer a few questions here and there, but probably bow out for the most part. Turn the thread over to you other guys.

Or....Maybe I'll go for 1000 posts in this thread! :lol

Just wait until mountain lions show up. I got so raped by those guys it wasn't even funny. At one point I was stranded on a large rock with THREE of them prowling around the base.

I'm more nervous about something else.. The million dollar question is this: Will playing Oblivion 10 Hours a day cause me to be raped in the ass by my electricity bill? I heard that the 360 consumed a lot of electricity for a console, but I didn't know it came with a friggin mini-generator..I mean WTF is that?

I never have trouble hooking up home entertaining stuff, especially consoles..but I didn't notice that thing at first and was like "WTF the the ac adapter doesn't fit".

Anyway, I can't take it anymore...My cousin/roomate's 2 year old daughter is about to be upset when I turn off that stupid crap on Nick Jr. so I can play some more.

Just get her hooked on it. My daughter, Natalie, likes watching me play Oblivion, as long as I don't go to the "scary fire place". I let her wander around town, talk to people and ride a horse. She lets me explore caves and do quests. (She actually recomended some strategies that saved my butt a few times. That time I was surrounded my mountain lions? I sent a parade of summoned creatures down to fight them until they were all dead. Her advice: "call some help to fight for you". Little charmer.)

I was actually suprised that I was able to explore a decent bit only being at level 1. In Morrowind that first trek from Seyda Neen to Balmora was HELL if you took it on foot...Cliff Rancors=Boss Fights until damn near level 10.

I was kind of hesitant about a lot of the streamlining they did, thinking it would be "dumbed down".. But really, they just eliminated alot of tedium..Good job Bethesda!

Smart kid. By the time ES V comes out, she'll need her own machine to play so you two won't have to share. Plus, online co-op! Believe! :D
