I don't have a horse in this race, I didn't even notice the change until I saw you fighting about it here, but most of the western world has been leaning right more and more, especially the younguns, people are fed up with the left's antics both economically and socially, the biggest market of them all in terms of console videogames has already come full circle and has Trump in the presidency so the way things are going I would be more careful with my wording if I were you.
Hell, it would not surprise me if top execs are already changing course on big AAA games as we speak, but of course those games will only come out in 3/4/5 years time so we'll only know then if the political atmosphere is affecting the way games are made as well.

But add to the fact that it's on a Tuesday and also it's a true Shadow Drop with the trailer coming out and releasing the game on the same day so most casual gamers aka folks that don't do gaming forums or keep up with YouTube rumors didn't even know about it.
Elder Scroll VI would pull a lot more for sure.

Yeah but 90% of AC shadows Day 1 players would have pre ordered it and pre installed. This is the danger with a shadow drop. They should nearly drop it the Day before for a 1 Day pre load but I guess this way adds to the frenzy.

Starfield wasnt a flop, well over 330k ccu on steam while being day1 on xbox and pc gamepass, it sold very well, easily 10m copies by now, ofc if u compare it with juggernauts like skyrim, cp2077 or hogwards legacy it underpeformed, coz it was very frontloaded- aka ppl realised its not good game and its boring AF, even for bethesda rpg fanatics who loved their previous rpgs(with exception of fallout76 which was always only and a flop too
).14m+ players with 40h+ avg, if only game wasnt so bad it would do 2 or maybe even 3x that by now
Edit: those reviews are savage from ppl who actually forked their own cash and bought the game, 164k reviews, only 56% positive- now we can tell how well reviewers and microsoft marketing team lied, they were really top notch at that to deceive so many experienced players ^^

That's because Starfield was their big new AAA game at the time so many were giving them a chance before finding out Starfield was trash.
Starfield had a really bad leg after the initial launch which is why both Skyrim or Fallout 4 had around 10x the amount of ccu or close to that amount daily.
Starfield didn't interest people due to a boring lore, random generated stuff instead of handcraft. Which is why even releasing a creation modding kit couldn't save it cause people aren't interested in the game and modder aren't interested in modding it.
Oblivion Remaster being a non new AAA game and also being shadow drop out of nowhere to the majority of gamers is already doing insane numbers.
