What a ridiculous year for PC games. Hell, for every
platform. You could argue the 360 exclusive lineup is a bit weak, but most will buy the big name multiplatforms there anyways. Add in stuff like Killzone 3, Portal 2, Crysis 2 etc. and this is just out of control.
On topic, this trailer was absolutely phenomenal. I was hyped by the original teaser trailer so seeing (and hearing!) this was something on another level.
Yeah, 2011 for me is easily the best year in gaming history since my Commodore Amiga days. Crazy, I know. And that goes both for PC and consoles. Pretty big year on the PS3 front too.

Fallout 3 was a huge improvement, but it still stunk of Bethesda's new direction for their RPGs. From what I've heard Skyrim sounds leagues better than Oblivion, but I'm skepitcal it will match my love for Morrowind.
Bethesda just arn't interested in making the kind of RPGs I enjoy.
Well, Fallout 3 was better than anything Bioware produced since KotOR, so if that means "new direction" I'm in. But that's just me. FO3 put Bethesda back on track for me after the abortion that was Oblivion.

Who is these days? Bioware is making action cinematic dating simulators. Obsidian is always following their lead. I think the only developers doing hardcore PCRPGs these days are European (Witcher, Two Worlds, Risen).
): If only Troika/Black Isle were still around.
I don't have a problem with "action" and "cinematic" in RPGs. I do have a problem with derivative settings and shitty dialogue systems.

The latter was going to be my answer :lol. Stuff like The Witcher is more to my taste, as is Obsidia's work. Though I do love me some Mass Effect, even if it is the only BioWare IP I give a shit about anymore.
I didn't like ME1. Gave up on it after playing about 3/4 of the game on PC. Shitty gameplay, shitty universe, shitty storyline. ME2 does seem to make a few improvements in overall feel and presentation. Feels darker and more tight, and the DLC looks good, but it also gimped some mechanics.
But I agree, ME is the only decent thing Bioware has released in recent memory that deserves any attention.
Poor Bioware. They must be really depressed reading this Skyrim thread LOL. Serves them well for letting themselves fall into a creative blank and living out of their brand name, I guess.

How could you NOT want to explore Oblivion? That was practically the best part of it!! Not to mention ALL Elder Scrolls games are about the open-world exploration.
Because it not only looks the same everywhere but is also a terribly derivative, namby-pamby, cheap tolkienesque, boring as fuck world? Oblivion was like ripping off all the most sleep-inducing, done to death, elves n' shit ever done. How you could even WANT to explore that crap to the fullest is beyond my understanding.
At least in Skyrim you have a Norse feel, amost Conanesque vibe to the world. It's still standard fantasy, alright, but seems far more focused. Plus the enviroments look far more varied too. I never liked the ES series that much, but this one is drawing my attention, and after FO3, I think Beth can do this right.

hold the damn phone....the witcher 2 is coming to consoles? when?
The devs want to release it on consoles (obviously), but there are no certainties about it. May not even happen, but I doubt it.
