There's this barrel outside of my house in Solitude that I dump all the potions I don't want after an alchemy session. I only keep a small subset, have far more money than I'll ever need, and noone has enough to buy even 10% of the potions out from one session.
The list of potions in it takes 45 seconds to scroll through and weights over 600 lbs.
I gave Lydia spell breaker, chillrend, ebony mail, Konahrik and some customized enchanted ebony boots and ebony Gauntlets. She kills everything and anything in her path. She solos dragon on master.
AFAIK, difficulty setting does not affect AI vs AI cases. It only affects the damage the player deals and receives.
Planning another character for Skyrim, this time i need a flexible and varied character. Pure characters are too boring, not to mention pure melee and pure stealth being OP... (mage, not OP but just boring).
Stealth, Illusion, Destruction, One-Handed and maybe some Light Armor. The only issues is that how do i balance One-Handed and Destruction leveling?
Ah, well, maybe i'll figure something out.
Oh, and is there any difference beetween Elven Light Armor and Elven Armor other than Elven Armor having higher armor rating? The TES wikia claims (with a pic) that the light armor looks different which i think is bullshit (IIRC it looks the same) and also that Elven Light Armor lacks pauldrons. True? I cannot find good pictures, too often they seem to be modded or otherwise unreliable.
try my build: tank mage.
put 20 points into magicka (300 total without any equipment boost) the rest into HP.
max heavy armor and block perks.
your close range weapon is a shield. you can do infinite stun (bashing, power bashing) to anyone in the game.
For magic, focus on using destruction and restoration magic. recommended perks:
Recovery from Restoration and Magic Resistance from Alteration

Ended up finding the answer in-game. The Light Elven Armor lacks pauldrons (for both males and females, in case people haven't noticed, sometimes the armor is a bit different depending on gender) but otherwise looks the same as the Elven Armor. The LEA is equivalent to the Leather Armor in Armor Rating.
So, if you don't like the pauldrons in Elven Armor and don't care about Armor Rating, just get the Light version.
Oh, and if i'm going to sneak around only a bit, ie have Sneak as secondary skill, do you think i'll do just fine with just the basic Sneak perk and skill only? And no ranks 2-5 from Sneak perk as those suffer from diminishing returns? Sneaking would be augmented by Muffle enchanted boots, possibly DB spellcaster hood and maybe Invisibility spell.
EDIT: Currently thinking of dual-wielding weapons while in melee and using spells while the enemies approach. Anyone have experience with this style? Do you think it would be better to simply wield a weapon and a spell?
So, I did the thieves guild quest line today. Honestly, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It had a pretty interesting twist, and the Nightingale armor is probably the coolest looking armor in the game, in my opinion. It's a shame that I can't really utilize it since I'm not using a melee character.
I'm doing the dark brotherhood quest line now and the way that started off was really cool. I'm enjoying it so far, and was really shocked when I found that
the crazy jester I ran across earlier in the game and convinced the guy to fix his wheel showed up at he dark brotherhood and his "mother" was in fact the Night Mother.
That was a great twist and one I didn't expect to come across. I am thus far not a fan of the
complete deviation from the original dark brotherhood rules and the basterdization of the organization

I enjoy spellsword class.
I Always Dual wield, higher dps, wider area. If you enchant your daggers or swords with paralysis (1 sec), enemies will not be able to move at all. Fire enchant is also recommended.
I focus on fire destruction because it does the most damage with least magicka cost. Also dual casting it with impact perk.
For restoration, necromage is a good perk to spend a point on. Other perks arent that important. Don't learn restoration dual cast. It's worthless trash.
until he died. Didn't even get back up into the air and nothing really unique happened.
Also, couldn't they have at least mixed things up a bit in the end? I'm really tired of the same 3 undead enemies in every god damn dungeon/cave I go into. Their next game had better feature 100% more imagination when it comes to dungeons and enemy variety.
That being said, I'm about 80 hours in now and still enjoying the game. I'm doing the civil war portion now, and still have a ton of quests to do. Hell, I skipped past a lot of cities and never even touched on the quests in those places, so there's a shit ton of content I haven't done yet. Should keep me busy at least until Mass Effect 3 comes out.
Oh, and I finally got destruction to 100 only to find that the master spells are kind of a waste since it's so easy to interrupt you. I'll charge up firestorm, have it just about ready, and then an enemy will shout or an arrow will hit me and I'm interrupted + lose the mana that I had invested in it =\
Inferno takes a bit too much mana (I'm only lvl 35) right now, so fireball an chain lightning are still my go to spells most of the time.
yeah all master level spells are worthless, including conjuration. permanent summoned creature (frost, shock) can block a door, you have to kill to gain access. master level destruction looks cool though, I use it when no enemies around just to see how cool it is.
Started a new character, deciding between the two beast races this time. Went with my 'tiger looking' Khajiit. Unarmed is so strong with them early on, but I'm guessing it falls off pretty quickly after a while. I'm tempted to go with a straight brawler though with Heavy armor, but it seems such a waste to throw away the Sneak bonuses.
edit: Ah, Heavy Armor has the bonuses for Unarmed Combat, so it is probably best to go that way.

Have you tried launching it from TESV.exe instead of from the actual launcher? I know there's ways to bypass the actual launcher too.

I love the random events in skyrim. I find some Thalmor escorting a prisoner down the road, so I go ahead and kill them and free the prisoner. No sooner does he run 30 feet and some bandits begin attacking him. So, I send some fireballs their way and he's free at last. I stop to loot a bandit, hear the roar of a bear and turn around just in time to see the bear stand on its hind legs and one hit KO the guy I just freed =\
I had a similiar issue with a Theives Guild quest. I have played about 40 hours and to run into that has really slowed my momentum to a screeching halt. I should just get over it and keep going it, but for some reason it has just killed alot of interest I had in the game. Maybe because now I am worried I will run into another issue similiar to this.
Playing around with a bunch of the mods now. Some of the city improvement ones are nice, but then there are ones like most of the 'improved Whiterun' which adds a ton of trees, and foliage to a city that doesn't really seem like it should have much..
There are some good player houses out there too. Sadly, too many go over the top, or look really out of place.

SkyUI, A Quality World Map, Crystal Clear ENB and FXAA Injector (part of what makes this good is that it doesn't go over the top and actually makes dungeons dark), DnDish Dragon textures, HD Textures DLC Fix (fixes messed up textures from the official HD texture pack), Nicer Snowflakes (I like Whimsical), Resilient Dragons (makes dragons tougher and not total push overs), specialized followers (gives followers unique abilities), and Sounds of Skyrim which adds a ton of new sounds for dungeons and out in the wilds (with more coming) to really add to the atmosphere.
Also, Wars in Skyrim + Warzones - Civil Unrest if you want to take part in large scale battles.
And if you're looking for more difficult dragon fights, don't get deadly dragons. For some reason the author decided he had to modify as much stuff as he possibly could, it's kind of a train-wreck now.

Yeah, that's why I avoided deadly dragons and went for resilient dragons. Better mod IMO. That frost breath really fucks me up with resilient dragons on lol. The fights are just right now.
An old friend of mine has started handcrafting Skyrim bottle tops (whisky bottle tops, specifically). I was pretty blown away, but I'm not a Skyrim guy. Hope it's okay to post an etsy link:
So I took a break from my upstanding Skyrim citizen Nord, pure melee battleaxe, Dragonborn guy and made a Khajiit thief who uses bows and claws. I'm really enjoying it so far, but I'm having some trouble switching between bows and fists.
I seem to recall being able to move between a hotkeyed weapon or spell to fists on my previous guy by just hitting that direction an extra time, but it's not working that way now. I keep losing my bow hotkey. Is there a way to move quickly between my bow and my fists? Or does a bow "hit" (the punching animation) count as a fist strike? I'm on console btw.

i donno how it works on console,
but on pc...
favorite your bow of choice, then bring up favorite menu, press a number key of your choice when your bow was highlighted.
during combat you can fast equip/unequip your bow by press that number you assigned to your bow of choice earlier.
maybe the number key on PC is replaced with the D-pad on console? i donno

I did manage to figure out this potential bug though. Apparently, you can't hotkey something on/off unless you're using both hotkeys. Once I set a hotkey to a random piece of equipment (don't even have to use it) it works as intended for my bow. Weird.
I just encountered a glitch, in the sidequest ''Waking Nightmare''
i'm in the Nightcaller Temple and Erandur is leading me up the stairs to go to the library.
As we are walking up the stairs he keeps getting stuck on the wall
He won't move i can't progress as he has the key to the library.
Anyone else had this problem and is it fixable? (360 version btw)
Get behind Erandur and push him up the stairs. It will be frustrating but when he gets close to the door he will start moving again. Unrelenting Force might snap him out of it too.

I'm guessing slim. It sounds like the DLC proper is a ways off. Would be neat of they snuck in a couple of the ideas from the sizzle reel into the next update, but that's all I think we can realistically hope for at this point.
The way they keep saying it, it sounds like full fledged dlc is still a far way off. But some of the free stuff for consoles would be nice now that PCs got the high res pack and creation kit. The pie in the sky announcement to me would be announcing a program to certify some of the more popular community mods for porting to the 360 version. Pure speculation.
I don't know why she's slutting it up, but I do know that Lydia is actually your Whiterun housecarl and is supposed to live at your home in Whiterun. The small bedroom upstairs is her's. I believe you get a housecarl for each hold you become a Thane in. After you
killed that dragon outside of Whiterun, you became Thane of Whiterun, giving you the ability to purchase a home there and Lydia as your housecarl.
If not following you, she stays at Breezehome (Or Dragonsreach before you purchase the home).
I'm about 70 hours in and have never met this Lydia person I keep reading about. Have I missed something? I've been rolling with some lady called Uthgard (aka Brienne) for the entire time.
Also what are the requirements to get the house in Riften? I've made good with the Jarl but haven't seen the option yet.

Lydia is your housecarl if/when you become Thane of Whiterun. She's one of the first companions most people get. She's fine but "I am sworn to carry your burdens" gets old.
Wow, finished the story quests and to be honest didnt want it to end. Can somebody recommend what i should be doing next. I am only level 15 or so and with the main quest completed i know there must still be a lot of things i can do. I just cant decide with what side quest or area of skyrim to continue with. Any ideas?
Did not want to slaughter Alduin, great design on the dragons btw.

Plenty to do. You could join the companions in Whiterun. Mage College in Winterhold. You could do some Daedric quests. Or if you're anything like me you could just pick a direction and explore everything. Oh, also Thieves' Guild in Riften. And Dark Brotherhood can be started in Windhelm. Good luck!
Was the texture glitch when the game is installed on the 360 ever fixed? I've been playing off the disc lately and it sounded like my system was working overtime. Wondering if installing will make it a bit easier on the system, as long as the texture problems I heard about have been addressed.
Edit: found out that the answer is apparently yes.
Play it how you want! The game does an excellent job of never leaving you "lost", and you are generally well-equipped to handle most of what you will encounter.
Go exploring and wander from place to place...avoiding fast travel when you can.
Get a house as soon as you can-the one in Whiterun can be purchased easily. And if you are not opposed to gaming the mechanics of the system, you can get it for free.
Companions help in the early game. Try talking to people in the Inns.
If someone challenges you to a drinking contest, do it. You'll get something that will really help in the early going.
Play at least the first few missions of the main storyline. I was many many hours in before I realized you need to do that to unlock certain enemies in the world map.
Google Iron Daggers, smithing & enchantment. It's a great way to boost your levels and give you a leg up. Just don't abuse it or you'll be left underpowered.
When you have the opportunity to invest in a business, do it. The short term financial loss will pay off big time when you're unloading heaps of loot.
Retracted post from the Bethblog on next Skyrim beta patch:
Today on Steam we've released a new beta update that gives you a first
look at what's we'll be bringing to PS3, 360, and PC in the
forthcoming 1.5 update.
In addition to a number of new bug fixes, we're now using title
updates as an opportunity to add new features to the game. Included
in this update, players will be able to enjoy all-new kill cameras,
including ones specific to ranged combat and magic.
Sound familar? That's probably because they had a cameo in the Game
Jam video [1] shown during Todd Howard's DICE keynoteTodd Howard
presented at DICE.

Any advice on getting fus roh dah'd to death?
I just finished the game at level 61 and everywhere I go I run into those Draugr Death Overlords that fus roh dah my ass until I'm dead. Sucked the fun out of the game for me...
I started a new character a few days ago and made it to 39 last night. Rolling a Breton mage and already have 100 in Conjuration and Alteration. I'm playing on Master and man, Paralyze is such an OP spell. Anything that gets past my Dremora lords just get stun-locked to death. I'm only gonna use it in panic situations from now on. Difficulty feels perfect though. If I don't have Ebonyflesh on I get one-shotted by anything non-magic related. I just started the quest to get Dragonhide last night. That spell is just too good to pass up.

So after losing my save games just after christmas I now have a new Xbox HDD so going to get back into this. I'm out of the loop, but has the 360 install graphic problems been fixed?
