Bush has won every debate he's ever been in. He will win again. Mark my words. Kerry is spewing out shit but doesn't actually have a plan to accomplish any of the shit he is spewing.

Huh? I don't think so. It looks like Bush is trying not to laugh from all the shit Kerry is spewing.

I wish they'd get off the fucking war in Iraq. There are other issues.

Well, this debate is just over foreign policy and "homeland security." All other domestic issues will be tackled in a later debate.

Well, that was a whole lot of the same crap we've already heard. I somehow doubt this is going to impact voting percentages much, if at all. Man, Bush's daughters are hot. A vote for Bush is a vote for more media focus on the Bush daughter embarrassments - seems as good an issue as any other. :D

that's funny because it sounded like Bush was simply repeating Kerry's closing statement.

Kerry's closing statement was a snooze fest.

And Bush's wasn't? "We have climbed the mountain and I can see the valley of peace below." Come on, they're politicians :p If Kerry had thrown up some horns and said "It's time to rock and roll America!" that wouldn't have been boring...But that's about it.

Are you talking about Kerry, or Bush? Bush is still running on the same broken promises that he did in 2000. Still promising major reforms in medicare/medicaid, social security, the public education system, and Healthcare. How has he put his "plan" into use? He promised to add additional funding to the Pell Grant program, but has turned around and capped off the grant maximun lower than what he had promised. He brought the "No Child Left Behind" (I wish this would have been in affect when Bush was in School) plan, but has failed to bring anymore funding to our miserable public school system.

Bush has not fulfilled any of his promises when it has come to medicaid and medicare. Matter off fact, he cut funding from these two programs, and the student loan program, to give tax cuts to the wealthy two times during his 4 years in office. Social securirty is still a joke, and has been totally ignored during his time in office. Bush has ignored our healthcare system. Our healthcare system is as corrupt as ever. Bush says the government shouldn't be in healthcare, so his corporate cronies can continue to run wild and control the corrupt pharmaceutical and insurance markets.

Bush has also talked up homeland security and the war on terror after 9/11. Our airport security is still piss poor, our border security is non-existent, and cities that face terrorist threats still don't have the proper funding for their police to fight biological attacks. And then Bush has the nerve to take our focus off of the real enemy, Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda, to fight a fraudulent war in Iraq. Iraq is a fucking mess right now. You think Bush's plan for Iraq, if he even has one, is going to work?

Bush has done nothing but spew shit he hasn't taken any action on.

Bush got absolutely owned by Kerry. That wasn't a debate..that was a stomping. You could just see how slowly Bush's wheels spin in his head. He looked confused the whole debate. Kerry sounded sharp, polished and knowledgeable about the issues.

Wait, did I hear Kerry right?

In the beginning, didn't he say Hussein wasn't a threat, and then at the end he said he was a threat?

What a lame attempt at attacking Kerry. Obviously Hussein was a threat. I think the point was there are threats larger then him that we should have and still need to address.

Actually, I was honestly asking. I couldn't remember if he said that or not, and this is the debate thread, so I asked here.

Douchebag.

Bush Supporters= Trolls

You heard it here first people. I expect front page news in every paper around America in the morning.

Seriously, im no huge Bush supporter, but Celicar has every right to believe what he wants and make his own opinions free from being called a troll.

And making fun of someones accent is fucking stupid, Bush was raised in Texas and speaks as such. How that effects his credibility as a President is a mystery to me. Maybe someone can explain that to me.

Kerry had the edge 99% of the time. He seemed calm, confident, and cool during the entire debate. Bush seemed flustered, fumbled, and angry.

ROUND 1: KERRY

So I basically wrote this for my LJ; works here too.

So before I see how the media (even The Daily Show) chooses to spin it, my quick reactions to the debate? Well, not much new really, if you already had a preference between them. Both candidates stated their positions as they've been for awhile, though that was probably quite useful for people who don't follow this thing as much as me. Perhaps it will be spun differently later, but I didn't see any major gaffes*. They each had a few times where they seemed to fumble for words--a bit more Bush than Kerry, but still nothing major. My favorite quotable bit was after Bush had mentioned the $87 billion yet again, Kerry said something like "I've recently tried to explain my stance on the $87 billion again. My choice of wording was poor. But what's worse: to be wrong about the wording, or to be wrong about the war?" They seemed to get a whole lot of 30-second extensions... which I guess makes enough sense, since I was wondering how 16 questions with 2 minute replies and 1.5 minute rebuttals would take up 90 minutes.

*Not so much a gaffe as a repeated statement that's kinda stupid... Bush referenced the 10 million registered voters in Afghanistan. However, I really wish Kerry would've pointed out that considering the initial estimates of eligible adults was 9.8 million... either the estimates were way off and every single one of them is registered, or there are some major fraud problems.

His remarks definitely seem trollish. He doesn't want to debate. He just wants to take shots.

Yeah, he does. I just wish one of the Bush voters on this forum would actually explain why they like Bush, instead of throwing around blanket statements, and then leaving the thread with the "Explaing myself won't make us agree. I'm just going to leave this thread because it is pointless, which is why I posted here in the first place!" excuse.

I don't have a problem with his accent. It's more the words that come out of his mouth. *whisper* I think he is retarded.

My parents and I were laughing our asses off in the beginning, when Kerry said he was steadfast and had unchaning goals. Damn, I had tears in my eyes, it was too damn funny.

You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. Actually, I thought the debate was a draw. Both sides were confident and believed what they said. I might have agreed with Bush more often than nought, but I can see why others would say Kerry won.

I was watching the post-debate on CBS and they did a 200 person poll and Kerry won, so who knows. Bush is leading by what? 8 points now in the polls, so I'm sure that will come down a bit.

And Bush has been unchanging when it comes to accomplishing goals? Read my first reply to Celicar. You think Bush has made good on his 2000 election promises and goals? You think think Bush has been unchanging on his goal of fighting terrorism? Then why did we leave Afghanistan, and let Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda (the terrorists) slip from our grip, to fight a pointless war in Iraq? Bush has made a lot of promises, but has hardly been unchanging when it comes to putting them into action.

i understand how people can find kerry boring. He just seems like a typical politician. I find that safer than the psychotic zealot and corporate puppet that bush is. It's also really scary how nationalistic so many people. I really think with global travel and communication the way it is we should be more internationally minded

But the point is most people are not informed of Bush's so-called flip-flops. Most of the public is aware of Kerry's flip-flops though, and Kerry has not really come out and defended himself over that. He did a little bit tonight, but he still has made no indication that he will in fact be steadfast in his decisions.

We didn't leave Afganistan.

Why is it that Kerry's position changes whenever the circumstances do? First, he's for the war, then against, then for, now against. Make up your damn mind. Obviously people's opinions change, but this farce of a politition tops all. He's great at pointing out problems, but offers nothing in ways to fix them.
