Real excited for this, hopefully they do great with my favorite comic book superhero.

Question for y'all. I'm waiting for season 2 of Arrow to hit Netflix before I start watch this. Wise decision or does it even matter?

It doesn't matter based on the pilot (it gives you more fleshed out background of the start of the show) but not needed

How much research did you end up doing into the comics and the old series to get into the character?

I started at the beginning at first. I thought I’d go all the way back and then kind of read. Then I was like, "Wait a second, this is impossible. I can’t do all that."

So I read some of the old stuff but then once I worked my way toward the New 52 series, I’m pretty much just reading that now because it’s the closest to what we’re kind of doing. But at the same time, what we’re doing has not been done in the comics. It’s a very different Barry Allen. A lot of the characters are very different than they are in the comics, but they have the same heart.

I mean, I’ve done plenty of the research but Andrew Kreisberg, Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti are my research. If I need information, I can just talk to them. I don’t have to try to flip through the comics that relates to the episode we’re doing. I just call and have a conversation with them about it.

I'll be super interested how much this show stays within its own sphere (not that i don't like crossovers), but I'm so excited
 
I'm excited for this. Got to see the leaked pilot and loved it. I've always liked the flash, bot much of a comic reader but hes always interested me.

Hewing closely to the template of “Smallville,” “The Flash” bursts out of the starting gate, racing through an origin story and related history that transforms baby-faced CSI Barry Allen into the red-streaked superhero. Like all pilots in the genre, the only reason to keep one foot on the brake, enthusiasm-wise, is whether the producers can sustain a high level of special effects and action once a weekly episodic schedule (and budget) kicks in. CW already has found a steadying presence in “Arrow,” and this more comicbook-y entry could be another solid anchor from sibling DC Comics.

Most of DC's digital-first comics are connected to a video game or TV show of some sort. In the case of The Flash: Season Zero, this comic ties into the new live-action series debuting on The CW next week. Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg developed the stories for the series, while staff writers Brooke Eikmeier and Katherine Walczak are scripting the individual issues. Season Zero specifically takes place between the pilot and the second episode, exploring the trials and tribulations of Barry Allen as he grows used to his new super-powered existence. Of course, kicking off the comic before the show has premiered is problematic. And even though the writers do their best to set the stage for Barry's world, the overall low quality of this first issue means fans are probably better off sticking to the show for now.
