God damn I love Joe so much! I just love how it feels natural the way he and Barry talk to each other and react. He's not always the "Barry this is a bad idea I don't want you being a hero" asshole or scolding him over and over again. Him laughing his ass off when Barry changed his voice was just soooo good. I never see that kind of reaction on TV. Normally they'd have Joe just do a "REALLY?" look and not say anything as he walks out of the room.
That was very fine TV there.

Also: LUTHER!

Great episode, though I'm sad that they killed Plastique off so quickly :/

But hey, Barry is running up walls and across water. That was awesome.

The Iris/Barry drama in this episode continued to suck the life outta everything.

Caitlin and Cisco were great in this episode!

And man, I'm loving how sinister Wells is.

Oh, and Clancy Brown is so boss. He's GOAT Luthor.

Damn right. Flash/Joe is the best relationship on the show right now.

"If she had survived, she might've made a useful agent for Harrison"

What seemed weird is that given her friendship with Barry, if she had survived she likely would have told Barry that Harrison sent her to kill Eiling. That's what she was trying to tell Barry at the end, when she had no reason to believe Harrison betrayed her (and in a sense, he hadn't--everything he said was true and he wasn't the one who got her killed).

And Harrison should have known that. Unless he's fulfilling temporal continuity by just telling Bette to do what she had already done in the future that Harrison presumably comes from. But if he's manipulating time to assure his future, that introduces a whole new can o' worms.

oh shit grodd? im stilling liking arrow more than flash but damn its getting close at this point.

is the gotham show good like these 2?

Gotham has some great highs, but some really cheesy lows. Where the seasons are right now, I'd put Gotham fourth in the listing of superhero shows, just barely behind Arrow.

I watched X-Men: Days of Future Past today so I think Quicksilver kind of ruined The Flash for me. Or maybe that was just a bad episode. Eh.

Cisco was great though <3

that's probably end of the show speed for the flash i think. kitchen scene was fantastic in that movie. would like something like that being done in flash. there's a lot of opportunity for humorous stuff considering the powers he has.

anyways Joe/Barry is one of the best relationships on TV imo. really like that bond they have, gonna be really sad if Joe ever kicks the bucket in this series.

can't wait for them to get rid of the name "the streak", it's bloody awful

I enjoy it more than Arrow and as much as Flash. It's different though. The focus is on the gang war, police corruption and there are no real super powers yet. Just... odd people. Just give it a try, you know fast if you like the style of Gotham. And pay GothamGAF a visit to share your impressions. :)

One hell of a super villain. Super intelligent, super strong, psionic abilities and one of the few Flash villains who can really throw down with him.

That's in the comics anyway. No idea what the show is going to do with him, but hopefully something similar.

They alluded to psionic abilities when Wells was talking about creating psychic soldiers for Eiling. I hope he has super speed too, I thought that was a good addition with New 52 Grodd.

I love how every single line that comes out of Wells' mouth has some insane foreshadowing to it.

"The technology to unsplice your DNA... hasn't been invented yet."

"Powerful men have a way of avoiding consequences."

"One adapts... one evolves... one becomes intent on reversing one's fortune."

Gotham is different to both Arrow and Flash and as big a fan that I am of Arrow, I have to put Gotham ahead of Arrow.

The last two episodes of Gotham have been fantastic. Also did someone really just say a show was cheesy? In a thread for a show with a talking gorilla. Give Gotham a chance. The Penguin is by far the best comic villain on tv and Gordon and Bullock make a great team.

he's already that fast (train scene) - end of show flash is going to run through dimensions to save the multiverse

I'm frustrated with this show's inability to show subtlety with its dialogue. When Wells strongly implies to explosive chick that she should take care of Clancy Brown, there was just another ambiguity there to make you wonder. But then, "You must kill him" and I sighed. We're not stupid, writers. We know what he means. She knows what he means. Why spell it out? This happens over and over again and it's extremely frustrating. This is obviously not a problem restricted to this particular show but it grates here because it's so often on point in other areas (Iris aside).

Fun episode otherwise. I wish they'd torpedo Iris. She's not as bad as Laurel but is being positioned in a way to where she could become that. If the writers of Arrow haven't figured out how to solve the Laurel problem after over two years, why should Iris be any different?

With them showing no body, Plastique isn't dead! The energy released after being shot allowed her to heal and revive herself! But it will have broken her mind or something... Yeah that's it!

Iris is going to find out sooner rather than later, the people in charge of this show aren't that big of fans of stretching out the "secret identity" thing among regular characters as Arrow has shown. I'll be shocked if she doesn't find out before the end of the season. Keeping it secret will end up doing more harm than good.

Dug the "I Ran" cover and was amused at their addressing the issue of Barry's super metabolism preventing him from getting drunk.

I knew Grodd was coming but after that it looks like he might be coming this season, maybe even being built up as a big bad for this season or perhaps the end of it for season two. I wonder if they've come up with a way to do the Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes tech at an acceptable level on a TV budget. I think that's really all that's holding them back.

I don't get the complaints about the cheese... The only time IMO cheese is bad is when it happens on a show that takes itself far too seriously, which this show clearly does not.

For a First season, The Flash is fantastic I think it's alot better than Arrow"s First Season. But Flash doesn't have flips so.. :P

I don't know about fantastic.

Shows like this always seem to start very procedural as a "case of the week" type deal until they develop their world and their characters. Then they start to introduce long term villains and move along the plot, which opens up doors for them to become serials.

Arrow crossed names of his list, then there was the undertaking. SHIELD started with a case of the week, now it's a war with Hydra and solving an alien mystery. Even a show like Fringe, started with a case of the week, morphed into a major arc around alternate realities.

In every case the show gets better as it starts telling a larger story, Flash has just done a good job keeping the early stuff fun. It will need to move forward with longer term storylines soon.

I got it, Bette/Plastique will come back with an irrational hatred of the Flash from the damage that was done from her recovery of course she'll conveniently forget certain details. *cough*

Man it sucks that Wells is no longer taking off his glasses and standing up and stabbing people anymore.

It's like Ollie on the salmon ladder. You can't just break that out every episode. It needs to be conserved instead of abuse. You should be more concerned about not seeing that when Season 2 rolls around.

You like Arrow season 3 more than Flash? You'll definitely like Gotham. Season 3 Arrow is watchable but still weaker than the previous seasons which in turn makes me rank it less than the freshman seasons of Flash and Gotham because these shows are still a work in progress.

On its own merits Gotham is entertaining because of how over the top it can get. In addition, depending on your tastes, you'll latch on to a couple of characters very easily. Everyone is highly impressionable due to specific personality quirks.

We need a Rocky 4 training montage with Ollie and Wells

This moment stood out to me, too! Great character dynamic.

This show is really shaping up, but I think a lot of the drama is targeted towards preteen girls. A lot of the forced drama doesn't even make sense, like Barry wanting to stop see Iris because she is writing about Flash. If this were a comicbook, the drama wouldn't be wasted on something so... lame. Then again, Iris is a completely pointless and boring character. I guess the writers are just trying to give her a purpose.

But overall, I really enjoy this show! I hope we'll be seeing Grodd soon. Go full comicbook!

The Joe/Barry dynamic is even better than Season 1 Oliver/Diggle.

I think Barry's motivation is pretty clear though, even if it doesn't make the whole keeping Iris in the dark thing any less stupid: Joe wants him to and he respects Joe like a Father. Barry is clearly struggling with it and I think it'll come to a head sooner than later given the pace of the show.

I think an important thing to keep in mind here is that this is a show that will do 22 episodes this season, take 2 months off, then come back with another 22 episodes. Once you let Iris in on the secret, it's over and you can never touch upon any of the themes of keeping a secret identity for the sake of your friends and family again. We're 5 episodes deep at the moment and that subplot has been the focus of like, what, 10 whole minutes out of 200?

And while I like and read comics myself, we really need to be careful when criticizing the romance angles of these shows. Yes, they're shallow and can feel like they're written for pre-teen girls, but I still think that's ultimately better than the pre-teen boy fantasies that comic books trade in. If this were a comic Iris would have been sexually assaulted and stuffed into a freezer by now just to give the Flash some motivation.

Yeah they have some cool special effects

Though, I hope don't write themselves into a corner with his powers by like season 3, he can't not do anything
