She was my perfect youth crush there.

I just realized that Iris doesn't have any other siblings so Wally West will never exist.

Fuck you, Geoff Johns.

Not in this reality, I guess. It would actually be cool, if there was once a world changing time travel where the core is still as it used to be, but minor things changed.

Wells: Barry there's something I have to tell you
Barry: What?
Wells: Iris' long lost brother also died in the particle explosion

Twist: the explosion didn't actually kill these people. It transported them to a random chosen island.

"Diggle, there's something else I haven't told you about my time on the Island"

"HOLY CHRIST IN HEAVEN, OLIVER, WHAT NOW?"

"While there, I met... 'metahumans'. People with supernatural abilities. Dangerous people."

"I'm gonna fucking throttle you."

More Flashes are likely coming in later seasons. And it makes sense Wally won't be Iris brother. You really would want another ordinary human to stick around doin nothing for 2-3 seasons before he gets his powers? Cousin makes a lot more sense

What was so amazing about what he did?
From Wiki
The typical lightning bolt moves at 224,000 mph -- or about 3,700 miles per second. However, the light you see from the lightning obviously travels at the speed of light, which is roughly 670 million mph, or 186,000 miles per second.
So yeah, he was moving fast

And on that note, did the writers already forget about Barry's clothing catching fire due to friction?

Yes, but lighting travels a lot slower than the light itself, so the talk about aproaching speed of light doesn't make sense.
Also..this guy was bassicaly firing up electricity from his hands. There's no reason to assume he was shootin as fast as lighting actually travels. We could see the discharge travel, fast, but it was visible. On that short distance real lighting would just happen, it would be to fast to register any movement

Forreal.

I'm just going to assume that Ollie got stranded in the same island as the cast from Lost.

Watch out for some random Darma Initiative cans of beans littering his cave.

Barry was far away. Yet he started running AFTER the bolt left his hand, caught up to it, passed it, and had time to look at it and to his perception it was moving in slow motion. He was going fast. Fast, fast. I don't care how slow the electricity was moving. Barry was going much faster than it was.

We don't know that. We haven't learned anything about Iris's mother. If she's still alive, it's possible the West siblings are out there somewhere, as is Wally.

In fact, I think we'll see Wally this season. Early next season at the latest.

Maybe she has an older brother that was in college during those flashbacks :p

The uhh "Iris Card" said she's an only child.

Yeah, certainly wasn't going that fast... Umm, creative license/dramatic effect, that's it!

Wally will end up being a Cousin if anything. But I'm fairly certain he'll be way younger and only appear as a "tease." I don't think DC plans for any of these shows to go Smallville/Supernatural long.

lol naivete.

I said plans and I meant it. Arrow, for example, gave itself a definitive style-ending date by having Ollie be missing for 5 years and doing flashbacks in time with the seasons. So if the show gets to 6 seasons, they can't rely on writing portions of the show in the past to give perspective on the present.

Iris being written as an only child is clearly to avoid having to cast Wally as a recurring character. Berlanti wants a Barry-Flash Universe only. Similarly to Berlanti using a Supergirl that has no Superman relation.

They don't need to get people who will work for free. Haha. There are PLENTY of good, struggling actors and actresses out there.

I'm pretty sure he had to approach or even exceed the speed of light to do what he did.

Not necessarily lighting current doesn't travel at the speed of light. He still must have been moving ridiculously fast but nowhere near speed of light yet.

Wally West will happen guys. It's when not if, but the show doesn't really need a second heroic speedster anytime soon. Firestorm is a good secondary hero for now.

Season 1 and 2 only dealt with the first year on that island

The timeline for the island is pretty rough. It's supposed to be 1:1 with the modern parts, but some episodes muddy that.

Also seems like Arrow is shooting for six seasons not five now.

I recall the Producers saying that the Flashbacks would be in-time with the seasons. So S1 = Year 1, S2 = Year 2, etc.. however that could have changed in implementation but I can't recall at the moment if it did or not. I can't think of anything that expressedly shows that S1 and 2 were the first year and S3 is the second though, so can you clarify?
