Looks like Bernie has some heart or just really wants the usgp to go ahead as he has given them more time to get their shit together.

ITV still have the most watched F1 race in British TV history; Canada 2011 is the highest rated F1 race on the BBC, with 6.1 million views at its peak.

Damn straight. Besides, you can type Mark's name properly without needing 50 special characters with all those dots and umlauts and such. That makes him infinitely better.

Kimi? I almost named my kid Kimi. Only if it was culturally acceptable :(

We, Kimi fanboys, are so much more devoted than the Webber fans because deep down we know Kimi doesn't give a shit if we support him or not.

Actually that's why I like him.. and regarding Web's fans.. does he have any fans outside of Aussie? I can't really see any reason for someone to support him other than that, or if someone really hates Vettel

oh I wish.. Redbull made a huge mistake re-signing Webber for next year so early. They would've had a chance to sign the Kimster

EDIT: no disrespect to Webber or his ability. This is pure fanboyism :)

I finally saw the last race.

All I can say is WTFMassa. When are they getting rid of him? :p

Poor Massa.. he had a puncture in one of his soft sets on Saturday so he had to compromise in the race and opt for the inferior 2 stop strategy

I'm not saying he's not been crap this year though lol

Kimi says it wouldn't be a problem adapting to the Pirelli's

http://en.espnf1.com/renault/motorsport/story/65808.html

From the article:

"The biggest difference is the tyres as it takes some time to learn how to use them the best way," he told Turun Sanomat. "But it was more difficult when I changed from the Michelin to the Bridgestone tyres. Now, I haven't driven on F1 tyres for two years so I did not get used to something else. In this way it will certainly be easier. I have talked to my friend Pedro de la Rosa and from what he told me, they [Pirelli] feel pretty good, with good grip from the outset, which for me is important."

He added: "I can drive this year's car as long as it is on GP2 tyres. Just a familiarisation. I don't know the schedule yet but when the new car comes I will test it."

And he is not concerned about the added complications of DRS and KERS.

"It probably will not be so difficult," Raikkonen said. "I drove F1 cars for a long time, and the last time was with the KERS and with a lot of buttons on the steering wheel."

Raikkonen's manager Steve Robertson said his driver was very keen to return to F1 and probably should not have left the sport at the end of 2009 when he was replaced at Ferrari by Fernando Alonso.

"He is back where he should be," Robertson said. "My personal opinion is that when he left F1 after 2009 he was too young and too good to be doing so. He still has a lot to give to the sport, and when he asked us to explore the possibilities, he was constantly pushing us forward.

"Everyone seems to know about our discussions with Williams. They continued for many weeks but on some of the things we could not agree. Then shortly before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix we started talking with Eric Boullier. Both sides wanted to come to an agreement quickly."

Another great column by THE man of F1:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/15976820.stm

Along with the Forum this has been my favourite BBC thing of the season, I think.

Why is he trying to justify his win? even if claims of Redbull giving him the win were true, I'm sure he gave something to the team that made him earn that favoritism in the last race as a thank you.. it was cheap to point out Hikke's win like this.. so many other wins were won the same way or even worst..

There are so many undeserved losses, but an undeserved win never exists, not even Germany 2010.. every win is deserved. end of story.

Now he needs to go back to Mark of 2010 and focus on driving more than writing columns

Simply because deep down he knows that he didn't have an answer for Vettel's pace on the day. Sad, but it explains why he's trying to persuade himself.

The rear wings make the cars look like beasts.
Still some of the best looking F1 cars of the past decade or so.

But, just when you think the designs have reached a level where you could call them aesthetically pleasing, it's another year of change in 2012. The front ends may well end up looking quite bizarre if Scarb's estimates are anything to go by.

Another in a long list of reactionary, poorly planned ways to boost overtaking. They'll address every problem except the one that really matters, the circuits.

I don't hate Vettel, and I'm English. So yeah, you may need glasses because you clearly have not seen the magical marvel that is Webber.

On that note: I've never quite understood where the line lies between "dirty air" and "slipstream". Is it a range thing?

Essentially, dirty air on a straight is a slipstream. In the corners is is bad because it reduces the efficiency of the wings, but on the straights it means the air the following car is driving into is less dense, i.e. less aero drag.

It's generally regarded that once you get within 1.5-2 car lengths, the dirty air caused by vortices generated from the rear wing, beam wing and diffuser really play havoc with the aerodynamics of the following car.

Thats really not the problem at all.
Yes, it's more to do the with the high dependency on the aero package in this particular era of F1. Reduce the the front wing or remove it all together (sponsors would be seething), reduce the rear wing size, increase the rear tyre size, introduce venturi tunnels and have a total ban on any winglets on the body of the car. This would certainly increase overtaking and nullify the dirty air situation.
