I build models here and there. I've got two completed Gundam models and this is the first F1 car I've ever built. It's been fun so far so I'm contemplating either an F2004 or FW14 if I can find either kit.

It looks really, really great. I'd love to see a F2004 model.

Someone posted an RB6 in the last thread. Needless to say, it looked very complicated. I'm definitely going to give it a try, though. Thanks.

I doubt I'd ever go near making a paper model.

I know for a fact it would get destroyed in a day or two by accident.

2009 season review has just ruined Kimi's ice cream moment for me. I had no idea his car had failed which was why he was chilling out. :(

That just makes it better, because it's such a pure, simple view into Kimi's psyche. Car isn't going anywhere? Fuck it, I'm having an ice cream.

That's the beauty of his character. He gets over things very quickly

Berger gets back in his last Ferrari at Mugello

Apparently Di Montezemolo dised a bit of F1 that day.

Nah, it was just an advise from Montezemolo.

The comments came at Mugello over the weekend, with the company staging its annual Ferrari World Finals event. Montezemolo brought up such topics as technical regulations favouring aerodynamics too much, the lack of in-season testing acting negatively on the Ferrari Driver Academy and stressing that top teams running third cars would be healthier for the sport than several smaller and less competitive teams.

However, via its anonymous ‘Horse Whisperer’ column on Monday, the Scuderia has quickly moved to clarify the words.

“Montezemolo’s observations were seen by some as a sort of ultimatum or even a threat to leave Formula 1, but the Whisperer can assure you that it was nothing of the kind,” Monday’s passage reads.

“For starters, the words ‘leave’ or ‘ultimatum’ did not even feature in his pronouncement, but what really needs to be stressed is that Montezemolo spoke in a totally constructive fashion, which is usually the case with the President of a company that has always been in Formula 1 and who has the future well being of the greatest form of motorsport so close to his heart.”

You know, just like an advise from a Godfather.

I have used greeting card stock before. Not thick like cardboard, but thicker than paper. Keeps its shape really well too.

F1: Young drivers pay dearly for Abu Dhabi seats

The backers of young drivers are paying hundreds of thousands of euros to test Formula One cars in Abu Dhabi later this month.

We revealed recently that Swiss 22-year-old Fabio Leimer, 14th in this year's GP2 standings, purchased his Sauber seat for the young driver test.

Earlier, it emerged that Toro Rosso's rides were open to the highest bidder at around the EUR 200,000 mark per day, with Sauber's seat costing even more.

"Yes, we have had to pay for this test," Leimer confirmed. "That's just the way it is in Formula One, but first you have to be in the position to do so."

It is a different story at the grandee teams. Red Bull (Jean-Eric Vergne), McLaren (Gary Paffett), Ferrari (Jules Bianchi) and Mercedes (Sam Bird) are taking the opportunity to give their preferred young chargers some rare test laps.

Elsewhere on the Yas Marina circuit, there will be some unfamiliar names like Kevin Korjus (Renault), Max Chilton (Force India), Stefano Coletti (Toro Rosso) and Dani Clos (HRT), while some highly rated young drivers like Christian Vietoris have missed out.

Auto Motor und Sport said the price-tags have been up to EUR 300,000 for a single test day in a midfield car.

"Success in the lower classes is no longer enough," said the German magazine.

Not a secret, but I really don't like this. The small teams might need it, but that way we'll only get more drivers like Madonado.

D'Ambrosio isn't even included in the 30 nominees for the best sportsman of the year.

Screw this shitty little country.

While Maldonado's money was probably the biggest reason for him replacing Hulkenberg, its not like Pastor didn't have credentials, nor has he done that bad of a job compared to his experienced teammate.

And seriously, this is the way of motorsports. All motorsports.

Why do McLaren keep running Paffett at these tests? He's got no future in F1.

Looking forward to see what Vergne can do in that Red Bull.

Toro Rosso will not select from outside of Red Bull’s own talent pool for its 2012 driver lineup, team boss Franz Tost has confirmed.

It is believed Sebastien Buemi, Jaime Alguersuari, and young Red Bull hopefuls Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne, are all in the running for the Faenza based team’s two race seats next year.

“It is 100 per cent certain that next year we will have two Red Bull drivers,” Austrian Tost told the Sportwoche publication. “That is the meaning and the purpose of why Red Bull bought the team.

“Our job is to allow young drivers from the Red Bull pool to enter formula one in training for (the move to) Red Bull Racing,” said Tost.

Ricciardo and Vergne are nailed on to drive for Toro Rosso next season, imo. The one who does the business will get that RedBull seat in 2013.

You don't think Algie or Buemi will have full-time drives with STR next year?

Paffett knows the team, is a respected driver and from all we've heard, gives good feedback ala PDR.

And I think Red Bull will want either Buemi or Alguersuari to stay on as a benchmark. But yea, one is most certain to be replaced and a 2013 Red Bull seat is waiting for one of them.

Personally, I think its gonna be Alguersuari/Ricciardo, while Red Bull farms Vergne off to HRT or GP2 or something for a season. I suppose a lot will depend on what happens at the test. Vergne was pretty quick in getting up-to-speed in his test last year.

They'll be cast into the Malebolge of former F1 drivers, as they haven't done enough to prove their worth. Jaime's fought back well recently, so he has a better chance of retaining his seat out of the two. But the Sword of Damocles is hanging over both of their heads. I've said it before and I'll say it again; F1 is a cut-throat world.

They really meant 3 cars on grid. I was thinking like the old days, a spare car if something goes wrong.

Pshhh, some teams can barely afford to stay in with 2 cars, how would they make it with 3?

Ferrari would like 3 cars so they can get some 'new' pieces from competitors more easily.

Ferrari don't know how to win unless they're brute forcing the research. Another car would allow them to test every race.

That said, there is something to be said for getting more new drivers in, though what's the point if they all have to be pay drivers as seems to be the case lately.

3 car teams would be cool. More fighting up the front, more mobile chicanes at the back to cause drama/crashes.

Make it happen, Bernard.

theres enough team order bullshit with 2 cars

why the hell would you want 3 cars

all races would be predefined at the start of the season basically

Pretty much.

I really hope 3 car teams will stay the hell away from F1.
