expected win from Vettel and great second and third from Hammy and Petrov.
Webber was super disappointing.
Amazing strategy from Sauber for Prerez.

DRS was hugely disappointing, doesn't really do much, looks and feels really artificial.

Overall a slightly boring race...

He did that because if button gave massa back his spot he would have to let alonso pass too, vs there being a chance of button only letting massa back past him.

That's what I thought at the time but I would have expected Ferrari to bring in Massa first to compensate if that was the case.

I agree with this post.

Heh.

Anyway, Vettel takes the first win, and RBR takes the most constructors points. That said, that McLaren isn't too far off, and thanks to Perez, we know that these tyres aren't as bad as people have been saying.

Drive of the day must go to Petrov though, taking his Renault to 3rd. of course we can only wonder what Kubica would have done. Also, NO KERS ON RBR at all! Oh dear god. If they get that system working the rest of the grid is doomed.

RB had no KERS at all? It's not even on the car?
Horner said it was removed before Saturday so that's a no.

If RBR get a decent KERS system working in there that thing will be even faster, so maybe they can dominate still.

lol, you made me dribble. Read into that what you will.

Really disappointed with Webber. Vettel's a freak, as is Hamilton, but I'm so happy for Petrov and Sauber. What a terrible day for Mercedes.

So it seems like the Mclaren may be the best car in race trim. Talk about a 180 degrees compared to testing. Bring on the updates! They better not DQ Hamilton...

Congrats to Petrov and Perez. Hopefully they can give the 2nd Renault seat to Senna or whoever.

Just wondering if not having it at all is better for the balance of the car. Having said that, Webber could have had a much better race with KERS.

It is good to see Redbull not completely dominant (yet), it would have been a pretty bad race if McLaren didn't make the turnaround that they did. disappointed we didn't get to see what Button could do in the mix with Petrov, Alonso and Webber, but not bad to have the pace to catch Massa again. Another 'what if' would be Kubica of course. Petrov did so well, but still want to know how much he really improved from last year. It's a bit hard to judge now.

Great for Sauber doing so well withouth the BMW money though. Amazing for Perez. Hoped for a bit more from Williams, Barrichello was a bit off this weekend.

solid race from Alonso considering the start, Massa....i dont even know what to say anymore

Vettel looks untouchable, embarrassing performance by Webber. He should have finished second in that car!

Definitely changing my driver line up for next race, damn Kovi falling out again.

Petrov is a completely new man, such a good drive from him. And great to see him totally gobsmacked in the interview sat next to Vettel and Hamilton.

What the fuck has happend to Vettel? He's 110% in zen mode now, he didn't even scream/cry after winning that race! He's totally focused now.

Perez is the new tyre god, great drive by both Sauber's. Barrichello has made a boat load of royal cock-ups this weekend, shameful.

Hopefully McLaren can get their 2009 form on and be quicker than RBR by Europe.

Urgh, don't think I was even asleep come the end of the race. Duuuuuuuuuuuull.

It wasn't the most exciting race in the world, but it's a far sight better than some of the races we had last season.

Probably blew it on the fantasy stuff, but only because I was so unsure of what would happen with the 107% team/s :( At least I got a few bets right, add that to a bonus question and I should have enough juice to get a decent driver or chassis.

I have the same lineup. Fortunately i got 5 correct answers on the bets.

Same here, except I went for the Team Lotus chassis.

How long does it take for F1RaceManager to update?

Its all so very similar to last year I can't help but expecting some really boring races in the usual shitty tracks.

Vettel & RB owning the place (specially qualifying making saturdays absurd), Webber meltdown, Hamilton putting up a fight damaging his own car in the process, Alonso to carry Ferrari on his own while Massa tanks, Renault spicing things up, Mercedes disappointing everyone again, some youngsters doing great, shitty new teams on their own lesser league...and 1-stop-races possible as shown today.

It was a good race today no doubt, just a totally static top2 halved the excitement. But Australia is usually this good or better, not confident about what's coming up.

He was doing well until Alonso passed him in the Button fight. I have no clue what that was about or why he completely fell apart afterwards.
I'm doing great, I'm doing great! *Alonso passes* I suck, I suck ...

It just doesn't look like he has much motivation left to fight his teammate and he isn't very supportive either. Let him switch cockpits with Kobayashi.

That would the worst thing that could happen to Kobayashi. I imagine it would destroy his motivation pretty quickly once he realised that he wasn't allowed to win races.

This year's car looks like it is made for Alonso and for sure Felipe is struggling with it. He started well today but managed to cook his tyres for sure when he was defending his place. And for sure he looked totally lost on the harder tyre.

Also, what happened to Heidfield? Lost somewhere behind. Damn, Kubica would be top 3 contender with this car.

If Perez keeps up performances throughout the next two seasons. like that he might replace Massa at Ferrari sooner than anyone anticipated.

Solid drive from Alonso today, awful start but the strategy and his pace meant he still scored good points. Fourth was probably the best possible result, the car just didn't seem to be dialled in for qauli but in the race the pace was very good.

Damnit.

Why does it always happen to the underdogs? Sauber had a great GP and now they have nothing, BOO!

On the upside, Di Resta now gets a point.

Does seem odd though as the car would have already passed scrutineering. So either the FIA are playing silly buggers and changing their minds, or Sauber changed the parts later.

Well shit.

Safe to assume something will appear on James Allen's blog about what exactly the problem was? Doubt it would've been enough to explain their tyre usage, though.

Poor Kamui :(
