Seriously, if there's only one man to challenge RBR for pole, it's Fernando Alonso.

Lol I love the old tyre change footage of the pit crew just whacking them with hammers
I think the McLaren pit crew wished they used such instruments last race with Button!

Anyway, today will be RBR vs Ferrari, with Alonso I think a dark horse (oh god) to grab pole. In the race itself if it rains all bets are off but I can't help but think that Vettel is finally destined for a win at his home GP.

Aside from the top, I hope Di Resta manages to get to Q3 again, and Kobayashi finds some form, but we'll see.

Edit: Massive lol at Couthard trying to find things to hang on to while being driven round a very wet Nordschleife.

Coulthard looks terrified hahaha
And then rolls out at the end. Scared to death.

Shocked that Rosberg has never been on the track before though.

McLaren has no influence over what's broadcasted. Same happened with Webber's pitmessage being broadcasted and in the proces tipping off Ferrari in Valencia.

That McLaren feature kinda hit hard as a McLaren supporter. Probably because it was true.

It baffles me as to why McLaren let that information about Lewis' fuel situation be broadcast.
I think it was more than obvious anyway given his massive drop in lap times near the end.

That said, McLaren aren't enjoying Formula 1 at the moment. RBR are eating them alive and Ferrari have leapfrogged them too, so they have to be wondering, again, why the car isn't developing as they expected. I hope they do recover (And Mercedes get up there too) as we need at least 3 teams competing at the top.

Gentlemen, it's time for the qualifying.

The weather looks really ugly. That's summer in Germany. :lol

Well... I was, I guess it was 2004, at the Hockenheim Grand Prix.

It was ridiculous hot... like 38 degrees... plus no wind and no clouds... so it's not exclusively bad... To be honest I prefer the colder weather with chance of rain :)

About the same as the weather here in the UK, heh.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see which teams use the Prime tyre and which ones get away with the Options. Something tells me even the McLarens will not want to risk it, but we'll see.

I hope the BBC commentary is wrong and Pirelli haven't bottled it regarding their tyres. The tyres this year have added a dimension to the racing that Bridgestone failed to do and if they start to add durability into the tyres for PR reasons then it'll harm their standing in F1 overall.

Massa burning a set of soft tyres, as is Schumacher, mad, the both of them.

Going by lap times, I think Rosberg is using softs too. So everyone aside from the RBR, McLarens and Alonso using the Option tyres.

Edit: Actually, maybe not mad, Rosberg was 18th until this point so really needed to use a set of options. Interesting.

Well, the usual 6 are out, and Kobayashi? Bah. anway, Q2 should be fun as the Force India looks fast and the Renaults don't look too slow either.

I have high hopes for Di Resta. One of the better teams should pick him up.
He‘s really upstaged the much vaunted Sutil. I wouldn‘t be surprised if Mercedes are seriously considering him as a replacement for Schumacher.

That was a bit pish from Glock, his team saying grats and him bitching back.
I think he knows where his future lies, the door.

2012 will probably see Virgin Racing totally change, and I don't think Glock has a future with the team, so he's just bitching because he wants to stay in F1 and the only way he can do that is by making it clear to the rest of the teams that his form isn't his fault.

That said however, it's still a bit of a silly move to make in my view.

I hope Schumi stays for another year or two, even in the middle of the pack he is still one of the more exciting drivers around(especially in the rain).

Hamilton is back. Should be an interesting Q3.

Right now it looks like going from Force India to Mercedes would be a downgrade. ;-)

e: Or not?

This change in Mclaren fortunes is bizarre. In an interview yesterday Hamilton couldn't have been more clear that they had absolutely no chance of pole.

How is Massa still at Ferrari? Surely that can find a better slave driver than him.

Sometimes I feel that Ferrari are withholding upgrades from Massa's car, he can't possibly be that much slower than Alonso...

Why would they do that? They need him right behind Alonso. Massa is just Barichello's successor in every way.
