If the only open seat is HRT, you're not really going to say no. 24 seats is a very limited space.

True, but beyond saying you're in Formula 1 would you do it and compete against your teammate or stay another year in GP2?

I'm not sure what I would do...

Actually, you'd be far better off being the primary test/reserve driver for a well established team than going with one of the back 3 teams (Lotus, Virgin & HRT) who are more than likely going to replace you at least once during the course of a season. Imo anyway.

Glock has ruined himself by staying with Virgin, although tbh he doesn't have much choice. Trulli is just counting down the days until he retires and Kovi may actually have another shot should Lotus continue improving as they are. Anyone at HRT on the other hand...

Well that's assuming there were slots available. Nobody knows.

It's easy to think like that on a forum, but if you're a racing driver and your dream is to get into F1, saying no to a team is going to be one of the hardest things you can do. You could be shutting the door on your only chance.

I totally understand people driving for the shit teams.

It's a one shot gamble to be honest. If you get into a shit team and they outperform themselves, you look good. But if they do shit, you look shit and your career is as good as over (Anthony Davidson for example, F1 career that is ofc).

"We" also have to realize that when Senna signed up to HRT no one really knew the performance of the backmarkers.

As for Kovi, I've always liked the guy. I'd like to see him at Lotus w/ Petrov or something.

Thankfully RBR seem to be banking on Ricciardo despite who he's driving for currently. There are other examples, though... I mean, Webber started in Minardi.

But to be fair, even before HRT had gotten to the grid their finances were already making headlines, if I recall correctly. But you're right really.

I always thought Kovi did a solid job as Lewis's number 2 in 2009.

I meant to mention that there are exceptions when drivers have the solid backing of a proper established team (Ricciardo, Grojean, Paffet, Vettel, etc etc). I'm talking about guys that are literally fresh on the scene with no major backing at all.

I knew that, I just wanted an opportunity to talk to another Aussie driver other than Webber ;)

Holy shit, have you guys seen that new Fiat advert with Alonso in it? They dubbed over him and I find it hilarious
That reminds me of Fiat Multipla (ugliest car ever + FIAT = disaster) with Schumacher. God that was atrocious.

Doesn't look like a pre-2009 regulation car, I reckon it's slightly modified RB5.

Oh of course, I forgot about the rear wing change, oops. It must be an RB5 in that case.

Watching some videos on youtube from the 1998 season. Hot damn I wish I could go back in time and be a little boy watching this season.
