There sure are a lot of "omg so boring" types. Remember just 2 years ago button won 7 of the first 8 races, or was it 8 of the first 9? Either way, the season still ended up being pretty close.

Just one bad start from Vettel, or non perfect qualifying lap and it's all up in the air.

the only way the championship is staying alive is for vettel to be out of action. webber is just too shit to take the fight to him.

it's over.

You don't know that. McLaren have awesome pace already, an upgrade or two and they can be up there with Vettel, and in F1 you're never guaranteed to finish a race let alone win it even if you start poll.

Let's wait more than 3 races before we hand the title to Vettel shall we? Jesus.

The more I think about Webber "not having it" or "being past it", I think about how close he was last year, and that for a large number of races he actually competed with a fractured shoulder.

He may be having some hard luck (and it is luck... no KERS isn't a problem he invented himself) this year so far but he's shown plenty of grit in the past. There's no way he'll just fall by the wayside... the cheeky fucker.

Bloody hell Q2 was amazing. That massive line of cars in the pit lane was hilarious. People were going balls out to get a lap in trying to cut inside each other.

Shame about Webber. I really want him to do well but his performance so far has been odd. He's been so far off from Vettel. I suppose it has a lot to do with the car though. His kers is shit. Makes me wonder if Vettel was in that position what would the team do?

People called last year boring too though. I just ignore those claims now. Last season was ridiculously good and this year is looking like it could be even more eventful, if not as close in terms of people contending for the championship.

Even more eventful than last year? Last year was overrated, you can't ignore that.

This time last year, Vettel had retired twice and we'd had a monsoon Malaysia Qualy. And this year? 3 Vettel podiums, and two wins.

If McLaren can't match/beat RBR by Turkey or Silverstone, it's as good as over.

No it wasn't overrated. It was the season that got me back into F1.

So "eventful" races are determined by weather and retirements? Please. Melbourne was a tame race but last week we had SO much overtaking and great racing. Malaysia was the definition of an eventful race. Just because Vettel won both easily doesn't mean there was a lack of exciting stuff.

Good lord F1 fans are a cynical bunch. After two races no less.

Whatever his luck, Webber simply isn't as good as Vettel. At the moment no one is.

What this season really needs is Alonso with a decent car under him.

In 2009 Brawn had an easily identifiable innovation that carried them through the opening races before being copied by the other teams. There's no single part of the Red Bull that's responsible for their incredible pace, it's just an incredibly strong package. Red Bull's traditional fault has been mechanical reliability, which is probably the only thing that could keep this from becoming another 2004.

It is entirely dependant on what counts as eventful to you. This year is leagues ahead of last year in terms of racing. So in that respect, it is eventful this year (which I agree with, I'm loving this season so far).

Last year, the car that was in front was the car that would win. There was little to no racing between the top 5 (by racing, I mean overtaking of course. Not sitting a second behind the whole race unable to get past).

Holy fuck people. We've had two races and you are calling the championship over? There's still 17 races to go. We haven't even started and everyone knows the real battle doesn't even begin until we reach the European stretch. A technical advantage at the beginning of the season is hard to catch up in the first few races, because we have 3 races in 4 weeks time. It's always been that way.

It takes one look at the other end of the RBR garage to show that they aren't unbeatable. Yes, Vettel's on fire atm, but it will be a matter of time, even mere moments, for someone else to start a bigger fire.

We aren't calling the championship over! But when most races are 2+ weeks apart, we need something to argue about in those 14 days.

This is such a long way to go yet, so much can happen as Alonso proved last year. Even though Vettel has won the first two races I have found them very entertaining especially the last race.

whine, whine, i'm not even sure what you guys are complaining about.
the races, the rules, drivers, teams, the "gesamtsituation :)"?

the reason that Vettel won two races in the row now has nothing to do with rules or overtaking or even an overly dominant car, it's just a strong driver on a strong car driving on an razor small edge of optimal performance, just look at Webber and see how that whole thing can implode.

If anything the other teams and drivers are just too slow, unfocused and not making the optimum out of their possibilities. There is no super-haxx tech on this seasons RBR.

I don't think anyone is saying it is RBR fault, just that they wish it was closer at the front.

All we need is the following - gremlins in RBR garage must migrate from Webber side to Vettel side of the garage. Voila, problem solved :D

it just took them the whole winter to migrate from Vettels to Webbers car, now they are set to stay for the season

Also, I will not be able to watch the race tomorrow, because I will be participating in a classic car rally with a not-so-classic Porsche. And if last year is something to go by (although I don't think anyone remembers) any race I do not watch will end up with Hamilton winning. Last year it resulted in a back-to-back McLaren 1-2.

In short: Hamilton will wipe the floor with Vettel tomorrow.

The lack of in-season testing makes it extremely difficult to claw back a deficit, because all the front runners tend to develop at he same rate, give or take. Things will certainly tighten up as the season progresses, but it could be too late by then. That is lamentable.

I have been very open with this. Last year I even announced when I was leaving so people could place bets accordingly. I don't know if they listened, but I can tell you they sure should've. :lol

That said, I'm not to blame if it doesn't happen, the system isn't foolproof.

Fuck so glad I chose Merc/Toro for f1racemamaner. Was going to go Ren/Toro

I went Ren/FI instead of Mer/Toro and looks like i lost big too.

A weird quali that's for sure. Will be interesting in the morning. Lots of passing in the midfield, Michael, Webber and Petrov will work their way up and the torro rossos work their way down is my prediction.

Fuck can't believe I'm going to miss the race. Stars at 7am here in the UK and I've gotta be out the house by then :( Nooooooooo.

Predictions:

It's gonna rain
Hamilton is gonna crash
Webber will crash with the guys at the back
Button will win

listening to BBC Radio 5 live's F1 commentator David Croft this morning, and he says McLaren are pretty bullish about their ability to rein in Vettel in the early stages. They believe they have enough pace to stay within a second of the Red Bull pole-sitter over the first two laps and then activate their drag reduction system (the movable rear wing) in order to try to get past him.
Bloody hope so.

I'm also up too early. I can't stand watching the pre race show. 1 hour of being told what kers/drs is, highlights of races I've already seen and interviews with people giving vague politician answers to every question.
