I absolutely love it. You get so close to the barriers without realising it, and then you look back at yourself and go 'woah!'.

Horrible for overtaking though :p
Foli's old avatar disagrees.

Surely you remember Silverstone 2003 and Rubens' heroics? It was one of his greatest races.

Rubens won both races! LOL

Now the mistery is solved. He CAN be a F1 champion. He just need lunatics on the track!

Ferrari: No doubt about Massa's future

Ferrari says there is 'no question' that Felipe Massa will remain at the team next year, despite speculation in recent weeks suggesting that he could move to another outfit in 2012.

Massa's future was thrown in doubt after a difficult start to this year, but his form improved on the back of a major rethink about his approach to car set-up ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix.

And, having shown his turnaround in form in China, when he fought hard for a podium finish, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said on Friday that the Brazilian would definitely be a part of the Maranello-based team next year.

When asked in an interview with CNN whether Massa's future with Ferrari was secure, di Montezemolo said: "Yes. Yes. He has a contract with us for this year [and] for next year. So absolutely yes, no question about it."

Di Montezemolo also said that he hoped Fernando Alonso would remain part of Ferrari for many years yet.

"Alonso is very, very strong," he said. "He is one of the best drivers I have seen in my career, very strong in the mind, very pushing with the team, but in a constructive way, but also very close to the team. So I want to have a long time Alonso."

Sutil apologises following Shanghai club incident

Adrian Sutil has issued a statement following reports he was involved in a fight in a Shanghai bar.

Sutil said: "In response to the rumours that have appeared in the media regarding an incident in a Shanghai club, I wish to make the following statement:

"After the Grand Prix in Shanghai I attended a party on the Sunday evening away from the track where I unintentionally injured another guest. I have unreservedly apologised for this.

"As this is a private matter, which has nothing to do with Formula 1, I will make no further public comments on this subject."

Eric Lux, the chief executive of Genii Capital which owns the Renault F1 team, is reported to be the person who was injured.

Luca Di Montezemolo says he and Ferrari are open to a breakaway championship.

Now, I know the teams, Ferrari especially, have said this time and time again over the last 60 years or so, but with News Corp & Excor wanting to buy Formula 1, I can see this threat finally getting some weight behind it.

To be honest, I'd be interested to see a new F1 controlled by the teams.

In other news, F1 teams are set to reject a bid from the FIA to reintroduce limited testing.

Gotta say I agree with the teams on this one too. There needs to be more running on a Friday and more tyres given to the teams. Qualy is almost pointless this season.

Yeah, I'd say that might be the most ideal scenario I can think of.

FIA Formula One World Championship
Red Bull
Mclaren
Renault
Mercedes
Sauber
STR
Force India
Lotus
Williams
Virgin
HRT

Ferrari's Splinter League
Ferrari

I remember watching the guy at Silverstone 03. Must've been a rare race I watched when I wasn't following the sport for a period during those years.

Absolute nutter.

Don't kid yourself, if Ferrari split from Formula 1 McLaren, Mercedes, Renault and Red Bull are following.

If they enjoy having engines then Toro rosso and sauber would follow for sure :p
Since Ferrari isn't interested in making four-cylinder engines, Sauber and STR will be partnering with companies like PURE instead.

Realistically, the chance of Ferrari breaking off without getting a signed "you're coming too" contract with the other top 5 is almost nil.

Formula 1 needs Ferrari and Ferrari needs Formula 1.

Ferrari use the splinter series line so often because they're the team who could most realistically get away with it. I couldn't see them following through unless something catastrophic happens to kill F1, but as long as Ferrari are as important as they are they're going to have a lot of weight to throw around.

I really don't give a shit about Ferrari. IMO they are as important as McLaren and Williams, for example. I don't see them as THE REASON for F1 exists.

Exclusive. Reportedly, Eric Lux, owner of the stable Lotus Renault GP, will file a complaint against Adrian Sutil, and submit to the FIA a complete record of the facts.
Prepared by Le Figaro, 13-05-2011

Cedric Voisard

We announced on Wednesday, this time his decision was made: the businessman Eric Lux Luxembourg, co-founder with Gerard Lopez Genii Capital and co-shareholder of the stable Lotus Renault GP goes to court following an assault which Shanghai was the victim on the night of April 17 to 18. The case is not trivial since it means her attacker as the German Formula 1 driver Adrian Sutil, 28, who holds this season with the team Force India. Different procedures will be launched Monday, and Eric Lux also has sent a dossier to the FIA on the full facts.

Aggression in a box of Shanghai

It is at M1NT, nightclub renowned Shanghai, Adrian Sutil has seriously injured Eric Lux in the throat with a glass of champagne on the evening of the Grand Prix of China. Arrived in the establishment within a small group, which included Lewis Hamilton and his bodyguards, the German driver would have misbehaved in the VIP area, before becoming violent when Eric Lux asked him to calm down. Result, over twenty stitches to Luxembourg after Sutil and Hamilton quickly left the scene. The vague apology by proxy through the press were not enough. Eric Lux takes justice and his lawyers should speak out by Monday. Adrian Sutil, also a civil conviction, risk the loss of his FIA Super Licence.

This is definitely bad news bears!

Yet it happened 3 weeks ago, the police, FIA and the teams are not getting involved which leaves a pretty big question mark over things.

If I was glassed I wouldnt wait 3 weeks and attend a GP where the guilty party attended before starting a civil claim on the matter.

Awesome :D

Bernie was very impressed with facilities and racetrack. Red Bull owns this track and first real race will be DTM race in June.

I've always had a soft spot for the Austrian track.

This could very well be the end of Sutil, before he even got a chance with one of the front-runners.

I'm imaging that the businesses involved did just about everything they possibly could to persuade him not to press charges... having been stabbed in the neck I don't think I'd have been particularly easy to convince either.

Little change little changes, no movement on engines yet though.

Ground effect dropped.
18" wheels & low profile tyres dropped till 2014 at earliest.
Shorter & lower front noses, back to 150cm wide & 1650cm long.
Bargeboard restrictions.
Monza style rear wing (shallow rear wing?)

Shorter front wings?

About damned damn time FIA. It was a silly idea from the outset to bring in the new longer front wings. Mostly because I'm sick of seeing people losing their front wings in silly engagements.

ScarbsF1 twiitter has some rumours about the Mercedes Barcelona upgrade with front exit exhaust, new sidepods, cooling & crash structures.

It would tie in with an earlier rumour from him that a top team was looking to get changes to its crash structure signed off mid-season.

i'm a little bit bummed on the drop of ground effects, while it is a reasonable decision it probably would have opened a can of absolute insanity :D
