Oh well common sense has prevailed and the off throttle exhaust ban has been pushed back.
The teams were complaining over the short notice and the technical challenge it would have on their cars and setups.

Only post-2008 cars? McLaren managed to build a hideous car before that.

Ewww ... How much I hated the dolphin nose.
I loved the look of the MP4-23!

Common sense prevails.

Totally agree with Avaya, post-2009 cars are still quite terrible aesthetically, although they have improved somewhat with the refinements to the front wings and the sidepods.

Still pale in comparison to these examples from the past decade or so:

F2002

Yeah, the Season 2002 had some beautiful cars.

And then, after that season, McLaren started with the dolphin nose BS. Such a shame ...

So they will not ban them in Barcelona but after it :D

Shorter and lower front noses! YES! YES! YES!

Post-2008 cars are fucking hideous, hideous monstrosities. Bring back the low nose riders. Thank god. They should also ban those atrocious engine covers.

EDIT: Banning the big rear wing as well? FUCKING YES! Oh shit. I haven't been this happy with the rules in ages.

Bring back V10's, scrap endurance gearboxes/engines, allow a T-car, bring back warm-up, no more parc-ferme. I'd literally cry. Cry tears of joy. Pre-2003 rules with DRS, would be amazing.
I would love to see an end to parc ferme, it would allow for performance changes between qualy and the race, and mix it up a bit more.

That's good, but it should never have been raised in the first place. Penalising ingenuity for the fuck of it once again.

Is there any reason why they've got the drivers they have for that photo op? I see Webber and Button as current drivers, Coulthard, Horner, Stewart, Murray Walker (I think)... who else is there?

PS. Catalunya this weekend. Fingers crossed for a repeat of last year's results.

Not F1, but Rossi is there.

They have all won at Silverstone?

Stirling Moss, John Surtees, John Watson, Derek Warwick and some motorcyclists: Cal Crutchlow, Valentino Rossi, James Toseland, Randy Mamola and Ron Haslam.

Also Brundle and Mansell.

Edit: And Hill and Brawn.

David Coulthard looks so out of place - he's too tall to be a racing driver, surely!

Also, just showing some love for Herbert.

Complex looks brilliant. When I drove round Silverstone last year it was basically one massive gig site. The end result is worth it though.

Mclaren will bring 10-12 new upgrades to Spain. Number is so high because they will reintroduce upgrades planned for Turkey, which were taken out after free practice. They will test them on Friday.

Also, Tim Goss from Mclaren thinks, that EBD ban will hit Mclaren performance. Main rivals will also be affected. More on Autosport.

More pics.

It's completely off topic, and likely to court controversy, but you know what annoys me in this pic? That beautiful, huge roof span and not a solar panel in sight. It only annoys because I've got a tiny north facing roof that is unsuitable for solar, so whenever I spot a roof line like that with no panels I get uber jealous :)

Anyway, that is a stunning renovation (criticism above aside).

I'm more curious about the McLaren truck in the last pic. I haven't heard about them doing any straight line tests so why would it be there?

Good point. Even in England they should be put up at least on new construction.

I think that they had some of their cars (old F1 models) on display there. Or maybe even MP4-12C for some 'test' runs on circut. Or Jenson's car died and he had to take the truck to Silverstone.

Just for arguments sake, the McLaren Techincal Centre in Woking was granted the 'Carbon award' or whatever it's called. It basically means the MTC is so 'green' that it pretty much powers itself, sorta.

Our 'beloved' Fernando Alonso extends his contract with Ferrari till 2016 season

Autosport

That's a long time and rules out any of the big name drivers ever moving to Ferrari. No-one wants to be an understudy to Alonso or put in the position Massa is regularly.

It seems odd that most people here agree that the very best drivers can get results out of a car that's not ideally suited to them. Yet a lot of people also think that a good driver won't be able to go to ferarri because they're all about the Fernando. A good enough driver surely will go there and get results. Massa's car I'm sure isn't all that different from Alonso's.

They will find another slave driver, probably someone from their racing academy

People were also wondering who would partner with Kimi in 2010. The answer was Kaj Lindström.

Lol

My money is on Kobayashi.

Kobayashi will go to Ferrari at the end of this season and Massa will go to Sauber, both Massa and Sauber wil get a bag of money.

Adrian Sutil will be at Catalunya, but I'm not sure whether he'll make it to Monaco, which is the very next week.
I'd like to know what exactly happened. I mean, we're talking about Adrian Sutil here, not Montoya. You'd think that someone has to push and provoke him quite a bit to make him stab someone.

Kobayashi isn't going to play by Ferrari's stupid rules so I don't think that's likely.
