Since I'm mentioning second season stuff, feel free to share opinions on Pulaski.

I liked her more than Crusher. She wasn't a great character, but she was a knock off of Bones, and I you're going to knock off, you might as well knock off the best. Crusher was jsut bland, and the lolRomance plot in the final seasons was pretty cringe worthy (as were most of TNG's attempted romantic plotlines with main cast)

I was re-watching Samaritan Snare and I hadn't realized that they had previously mentioned Picard's heart condition in the show. For some reason, I had totally forgotten that aspect of this episode and confined the whole thing to Tapestry. Unfortunately that's basically the only good thing about it -- Riker is nearly as much of a petulant child as the Pakleds and for no reason is, despite knowing her the longest, the most dismissive of Troi's warnings about them.

They also explain Picard's reluctance to have Pulaski perform the operation as being about his image, but the way the scenes are written and performed it seems more of personal thing between the two of them, which isn't followed up on.

In fact, between this episode and Time Squared, Picard's sort of ridiculous, irrational anger seems to be a season two thing. It really bothered me when I rewatched that episode too.

Pulaski was awful.

I noticed recently that TNG worf was a bit of a pansy ass outside of a few incidents. He seemed to get his ass kicked quite a bit. It wasn't until DS9 they made him truly a badass.

Other than watching a fair amount of TNG in the early 90's, I've not seen a whole lot of Star Trek at all. I'm familiar with the TOS characters, just for their cultural iconic-ness, I guess. That's why I'm excited over the Netflix announcement. When they go online, I think I'm going to slowly watch the whole franchise, starting at the beginning.

I'd say start with TOS and then do Enterprise. Some will say don't bother with Enterprise, but I'd suggest if you're going to watch it all, to leave Voyager last, as it's harder to get through than Ent. (And leave the series finale of Ent until you've watched all of The Next Generation, or just skip the series finale of Ent, as you wouldn't be missing much)

I know TOS Star Trek is a product of its time, but it's funny how often Roddenberry's enlightened crew lapses into blatant sexism without ever being aware of it. I just re-watched TOS episode The Lights of Zetar, the one where young, pretty Lieutentant Mira Romaine comes on board the Enterprise and Scotty starts hitting on her in a very unprofessional manner. As if that wasn't bad enough, all the senior male officers refer to her as "the girl". She's a Lieutenant, an officer in Starfleet, but the episode has lines like:

KIRK [OC]: Doctor, how's the girl?

KIRK: Is the girl well enough to be questioned?

ZETAR: We only want the girl.

MCCOY: The girl’s life reading is becoming a match to the Zetarians. She's losing.

MCCOY: Jim, you realize the pressure needed to kill the Zetars might kill the girl too.

SPOCK: Doctor McCoy is correct, Captain. While the truth was difficult to accept, when it was revealed, the girl reacted well.

They're lucky "the girl" didn't sue them for creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment. :p

But there was also... uh... no. The Doctor was the only good character. Shame it had to be on Voyager.

Tuvok had his moments. Also, Barclay and Q had recurring roles and both of those characters are much better than almost any of the Voyager crew.

Barclay was good. But Q was turned into a whiny pussy who just wanted to get laid and refused to help them get home rather than tease them all the time.

Refusing to help? Just like he did in TNG?

He had more of a personality than most of Voyagers cast, which was a breath of fresh air. (Actually, Tuvok has more personality than anyone else until the Doctor started being played for comic relief)

You could always watch it as part of the TNG ep it's set in. Though I don't think it would really add much to the episode. :p

You could always just fast forward through the TNG part, although I'm say watch it for completionist purposes. (And then never watch it again, eva)

The Enterprise finale was supposed to be part of a specific TNG episode?

Yeah, it takes place when they find the prototype Federation cloaking device. Riker's old CO comes onboard the Enterprise to retrieve it.

I think it takes away from it that Troi knew what was going on. Riker also must have had massive mood swings to go from pensive and trapped to admiring and reflective every time he visited the holodeck. It doesn't even fit in with the ep as Riker tells Picard in the heat of the moment after stuff goes down, he doesn't go straight from the holodeck to Picard to tell him despite making a decision to do so in Enterprise.

Picard let Q hang out during his exile, and for that Q fixed a planet that Picard was having trouble fixing, gave Data his first taste of genuine emotion, tried to hook Picard up with a woman, and then showed Picard that he shouldn't regret his ill-spent youth (even if it means dying), and may have saved Picard's life on the operating table, and for those last two Picard was finally satisfied.

Perhaps it's because Riker has known her the longest.

Psh, Pulaski was way, way better than Crusher. I, too, hated Pulaski until I sat down and watched TNG all the way through, which is when it became evident that she is a vastly superior character.

Probably only in so far as she was actually a source of conflict, which is rather essential to good storytelling. Crusher was mostly a non-entity.

The main thing for me is that Muldaur was actually a good actress, whereas Gates McFadden certainly was not.

I do really respect the devotion McFadden had to knowing all the in-universe tech and terminology, though. Even though she sounded wooden while saying them.

I noticed Gates, on many occasions, fumble with a prop or get her marks confused. I only noticed it with her though.

Yeah, Like I said before,I didn't think Pulashi was a great character, but I do think she was easily a more interesting character than Crusher.

Yeah she didn't really show it well. But I've read/heard a bunch of times that she was way into knowing how all the props worked, and what all the words she was saying meant. Which is commendable.

Still, Pulaski fo lyfe.

Pulaski was cool because she would go toe-to-toe with Picard. She wasn't afraid of him. she had full confidence in herself. But as a whole her character was pretty poor. We never even saw her quarters or her backstory. Guess nobody cared then either haha.

The Sleek Cover Engages Trekkies’ Fervor!

Revolution X and Digital Sin are proud to release the box art for the adult movie event of the year, Star Trek: The Next Generation: A XXX Parody. The out-of-this-world cover transports porn light years into the future, where an action-packed story and FX combine with hot sex to form the ultimate adult viewing experience. Featuring Captain Picard, Dr. Crusher and the rest of the fan-favorite characters, the cover engages Trekkies’ fervor, while causing them to circle the May 5th street date on their calendars. “This film is as accurate a depiction of Star Trek characters sex lives as you’re likely to find,” writes Patrick Kindlon of pop culture site BleedingCool.com. “A true Trekkie, Hain has gone to great lengths to retain not only the feel of the series but also as many nuances as possible…The cast is surprisingly dead-on…In addition to being well cast, the talent is enthusiastic about the work.”

To download the box art for Star Trek: The Next Generation: A XXX Parody, visit: http://www.nsdspress.com/__PublicRelations/sheets/StarTrekTNGAXXXParody.jpg.

Director Sam Hain says, “Our video and photo editors have been working non-stop on this movie since we wrapped in February. Because of the love we all have for the show, it’s been imperative every detail is perfect. Now there’s a whole new level of excitement as we are positioned to begin releasing photo teasers and trailers, with the DVD street date right around the corner. We are all extremely proud of this movie.”

In addition to spotlighting the cast on the sleek cover, fans are treated to a glimpse of the movie’s epic battle scene between The Enterprise and a Romulan Warbird. The battle scene and subsequent FX took 60 days to create in postproduction, making it the largest and most comprehensive special effects undertaking Revolution X and Digital Sin have ever done.

With realism being key for a successful porn adaptation of the Star Trek: The Next Generation franchise, casting became more important than ever. In addition to using performers known for their acting talents, most of the cast selected consider themselves loyal “Star Trek” fans. The pitch-perfect cast includes: April O’Neil (Counselor Troi), Rocco Reed (Cmdr. Riker), Dana DeArmond (Ensign Ro), Kimberly Kane (Dr. Crusher), India Summer (Tasha Yar), Tyler Knight (Geordi ), Bobbi Starr (Dr. Leah Brahms), Xander Corvus (Lt. Cmdr. Data), Lee Bang (Lt. Worf) and Tim Cannon (security officer). In addition, a mainstream Patrick Stewart double named Giles was cast to play Captain Picard.

As media releases photos and articles from the set of Star Trek: The Next Generation: A XXX Parody, the buzz for the movie reached immense heights. In addition to coverage from BleedingCool.com, top Trekkie, sci-fi, pop culture, comic and entertainment websites reported on the movie.

“[Star Trek: The Next Generation: A XXX Parody] is a loving tribute and unofficial sequel to a classic TNG episode starring some major Trekkie porn stars, not to mention an uncannily convincing Jean-Luc Picard impersonator,” wrote Alasdair Wilkins of Gawker Media’s io9.com. “Everything looks amazing. They built an entire 360-degree set for the Enterprise Bridge, and the costumes and wigs really evoke the look of The Next Generation’s character. They even brought in a renowned Patrick Stewart impersonator from London to bring Captain Picard to life.”

NerdBastards.com writer Luke Gallagher posted, “Does it live up to that naughty “lost episode” you imagined it would be? Well, don’t ask me. I haven’t seen it. I’ll tell you what though, the sample pics on Fleshbot.com certainly live up to my nerd fantasy fulfillment. The uncannily convincing Jean-Luc Picard impersonator is reason enough to watch.”

Supposed to be Tasha Yar. And the promo photos look like there going with the whole Sela thing too.

edit: What I find more funny is the name of the girl playing Troi.

April O'Neill....Really?

She's a geek apparently who also loves Trek. (In her interview she mentions she begged to get the part but she was afraid she wouldn't be able to due to her hair. Yes I read the articles...lol)

I've seen some photos of this, it doesn't set my phaser to kill =/

I'll give them Picard though. Getting a classically trained British actor who looks like Stewart was no easy feat.

I was watching "Who Watches The Watchers" today and I got to say I love the music that plays when Picard takes Nuria aboard ship. Ron Jones really did some great scores for the show. Shame most of it never got released.

Probably one of the better Next Gen episodes, too. Great directing and writing.

I have the Star Trek XXX porn, based on TOS. It's a terrible porn but rather hilarious (they are getting pulled in by a giant vagina in space).

I have two of them. Different movies from different companies.

The picture of him with his flute is hilarious!

But I'll watch it for the Ro character. I've always had a massive boner for Ro Laren. To this day I still wish she'd taken the DS9 job.
