I hope Happy Hour is actually good this time.

... and since half of it will be Screened and Comic Vine, that's nearly impossible.

I prefer them focusing on Random PC Game/Breaking Brad/Jar Time/Load Your Last Save and continuing to come up with new ideas, to be honest. I might be proven wrong, but I doubt I will be.

I think that's the point.

nailed it then

Screened and Comic Vine phoned it the fuck in every week when Happy Hour was a weekly thing. Tested's segments often turned into hilarious messes but the effort was appreciated.

Anime Vice always brought their A game though.

But, a comic book video show is impossible to do live. Look at iFanboy - you need pans of comic book pages to break up the monotony of watching guys talk at each other and to also provide context. They probably don't do that on the fly.
Same with a movie show... if you can't show clips, then you have nothing to cut to.

Just got around to watching the last TNT, Jeff's reactions to Plumbers Don't Wear Ties were priceless. Made it all worth it, oh my god:lol And the random cat at the end sealed it.

Tony being one of the least charismatic people that I've ever seen on camera didn't help the Comic Vine sections. Any enjoyment that I got out of those segments came either from Ryan berating him (including how he used the same voice over and over again in the dramatic comic reading segments) or from Vinny panning the camera around Batman's crotch.

I've always wanted Happy Hour to return, but think it should be just once a month. Both Screened and Comic Vine had good segments at times, but they were a bit screwed by the weekly format.

They should have the music site participate.

Oh wait.

...In all seriousness, I can see it involving Jeff playing PDWT alone, Patrick making a diorama, Rorie and Ryan holding hands, random comic book recommendations, and Will and Norm doing something involving their LEGO build.

Eh, Happy Hour was mostly garbage and I think they realized that when they put it on hiatus. I trust that they will approach this differently now, but I'm not sure how much I can care about Comic Vine and Screened.

Yeah, Happy Hour was pretty dull. Actually let my subscription drop pretty quickly when that was their big premium content.

But whatever, as long as they don't stray from stuff like Random PC Game, Jar Time, Load Our Last Save, etc. then it's all good. Those are easily worth the monthly subscription for me at the moment.

The idea is to only do it when they actually have good segment ideas. I guess this means they've been saving up.

I pretty much got my $35 worth from the Cards Against Humanity TNT.

Why did no one tell me that normal people (not premium) can add there PSN accounts again for tracking :O

finally it is back!

I'D WATCH THE SHIT OUT OF THAT!

Needs to be filmed in Vinny's home.

When he's playing Dark Souls all day.

And is unwashed.

ow its real gamespot even used his music for over 10 years for every show and video review background music.
in 2006 jeff even did a gig at the gamespot night game event.

Did he not say he opened a gig for a large act once on the Bombcast? It may have been a joke but I seem to recall him mentioning it in passing in a serious way. Can't remember who it was.

Maybe my mind is playing tricks.

One of his bands has opened for Run DMC if I recall correctly.

Today on cooking with vinny I am goning show you how a single person can eat a whole KFC family bucket in a day.

Cooking with Caravella.

Making tortillas, pasta and testing how caffeine helps me digest even more KFC.

It's not Jeff's only band.

Don't forget Suburban All-Stars, with hits like In the Can (kinda NSFW, might want to wear headphones) -- Jeff and Ryan challenging Vinny's place as the filthiest GBer. Then there's Headboard, which I've never heard, but apparently Alex was a part of as well (and the co-founder might've been the Ricker).

Come on Whiskey, make a food site already

I've been saying this forever!

Think of all the great content they do with food already. Tested with Thanksgiving turkey fryers, Made for TV gadgets, coffee etc. Giant Bomb snack segments, energy drink tasting...

It would be awesome if they expanded it into a full-fledged site. I'm sure they'd need new staff, though.

I'd be up for another Whiskey site if they shut Screened. What a waste of a site.

A cooking one would be awesome.

Alex and Matt are strong writers, and I usually enjoy their movie reviews, but the site's output is anemic. If they were to hire a few more people to give the site some decent television coverage, for example, I might have a reason to go there more often. In its current state, Screened is just crushed by The A.V Club.

I haven't listened to it in a few months, so maybe it's changed, but the podcast was also pretty dire. In addition to the inherent awkwardness of Alex and Matt not being in the same room, they almost never had a conversation about something that they had both seen (unless it was a trailer), resulting in one person rambling and the other feigning interest. They also spend way more time on comic book movies than they deserve, but that's more of a difference in taste for me.

Edit: A food site would be great. In addition to any new staff they would have to hire, the "Whiskey family" already has people with plenty of food stories to tell (Will and his coffee obsession, Vinny's tortilla press, Brad's sojourns to Bojangles).

Fuck, missed the beginning of LYLS Part 3 :( There really should be some sort of pop up when you're browsing the site warning you a live show is about to start.

As for Screened, I personally enjoy their editorial content and light news coverage. They're probably the best two writers of the entire whiskey family and the podcast is a good way to keep up with what's going on in hollywoodland. Hopefully they'll find a third man (or better, a woman) so they can have proper discussions on the podcasts.

I wonder if sending them a handwritten letter would have any affect.

I'd probably have to package it with something weird from around here to get any attention...

screened stuff.
It's a shame they haven't added another person or two, pound for pound, Screened produces the best video content of any Whiskey site.

Besties, Defending Your Movie, Remake Rematch, and Half Good are all extremely well done. It's just too bad they only can put out maybe one of those a week. All there content seems like it's incredibly time consuming, since they can't just sit down and bang out a couple 40 minute quicklooks in a day. Kind of like how GB has almost completely stopped doing TANG or Video reviews, which I assume had the same problem.
I was thinking about sending a bomcast question as a letter to get their attention.
Judging based on how they handle the other stuff people send to them, it would probably sit under a desk for a month.

Worth a shot. I texted the idea of a food site to Tested on their CES drive to Vegas. The reply?

"We like cookies!"

Speaking of the idea of a whiskey cooking site whats the cooking website scene like?

I am sure Whiskeys brand of live content + random banter would fit cooking but is there money to be made starting a cooking site?

Also they would probably have to get another office with a oven and stuff. Filming out of a persons house would be ok for a short bit of time but that wont happen for long if that person has any family / housemates.

Ha, that was probably me on the text. And I do like cookies.

I found it to be a perfectly valid answer. :)

Cooking segment idea: Attempt to make knock-off Girl Scout Cookie recipes and have Whiskey staff compare to the real thing.

Honestly though, I'm sure there's a lot of people in the Whiskey Media demographic who either have no idea how to cook and want to learn, or like cooking and want to see a Whiskey-style website made out of it. Would be a great way to both educate and be entertained.

The wiki could be ingredients, recipes, utensils etc.

Yeah, if there's a video cooking site with actual personality I'd love to hear about it. Not in the Food Network sense.

The closest thing I can think of is FreezerBurns.com, but it's not exactly cooking haha.

I like the idea of them doing cooking, but I think they need to test it, er, on tested.

They have some great personalities already, just whip up some cooking segments. Okay that one was intentional.

It'd be kind of hilarious to see them doing a cooking show with the bathroom right next door.

More seriously, for cooking video segments wouldn't they need a real kitchen?
