He quit one fight when he knew he was done...big deal.

The man stayed in the ring 9 or 10 rounds for one of the most one-sided beatings I've ever seen against Lennox Lewis. Any lesser man would've thrown in the towel LONG before the obvious conclusion.

Hm. So biting a guy's ear during a boxing match is merely a clever strategem -- much like the rope-a-dope -- to ensure a fighter progresses to the later rounds?

And beyond the physical quitting, the guy never found a way to beat the "great" heavyweights he fought.

Anyway, this cold and immobile equine has been beaten sufficiently.

Now who would win a fight: Atomic Lincoln or the reanimated corpse of Alfafa Switzer?

will totally Facebook friend you! *giggle* *LOL*
Batman, simply because he wouldn't be dumb enough to
get owned in a fight just because the other guy was standing a foot higher than him. WTF was that "I have the higher ground" bull shit anyways....

In a swordfight, the person with the higher ground is always at an advantage.

In Obi-Wan versus Anakin's case, Anakin was a master duelist - yet his disadvantage was when he was fighting on slopes. Obi-Wan, being the more experienced fighter (and the only one to beat a Sith Lord on lower ground), saw his opportunity to end things.

Eh, that makes sense.

Most observers felt Tyson was winning that fight when he bit Holy's ear, so that point doesn't hold much water.

But you're right in general though...Tyson never beat ANYONE of note, outside of Michael Spinks. I said that going into the Tyson/Lewis fight, when fools on this board were foolishly taking Mike to knock Double L out. The heavyweight division in the 80's was arguably weaker then the division is now, and that's saying something. Having said that, is it conceivable that Tyson's speed, ferocity and punching power could've held up against great boxers? I think it could have. Tyson I believe was also a bit smarter in his prime in terms of actual boxing, when he was with his original trainers. I don't think he really knew how to box after he was folded into Don's camp.

Anyway, I think pre-90's Tyson could eek out a win against Ali, unless he punched himself out. But Ali in his prime owns any version of the post-90's Tyson.

Do most observers also agree that, when you're winning a boxing match, the decision to bite someone's ear is pretty much a surefire way to ensure said contest gets stopped by the officials?

Seriously. Winning or not is irrelevant. He chose to flagrantly foul Holyfeld and end the fight.

Now: Here's the fight I really want to see -- Pauly Shore versus the blender.

Which most observers are you talking about? Most that I saw at the time said they thought the fight was close, or that Holyfield was ahead. Some people believed that Tyson bit the ear on purpose in order to get a DQ and get out of a fight that he didn't think he could win.

Musashi Wins!

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
Seeing a picture of Annakin makes me think Efralope is involved, and though he is a worthy force of nature I believe Batman would kick his jedi-braided behind.

This gets back to what I said about him being a smarter fighter pre-King. :lol

Anyway, I'd say of all the people I've heard who saw that fight (I've only seen snippets of it), they believed Tyson was ahead at the time. At the very least, there was a common belief that Holyfield was cheating like a motherfucker during that bout, which is what set Tyson off (as opposed to Tyson losing).
