To be honest the guy said he didn't know, as he wasn't present when the got their shipments. Isn't it usually safe to assume that some sort of give away will be given with 360 pre-orders. I doubt only the PS3 version gets a give away, it just remains to be seen what 360 pre-orders will get.

Not officially, but it's all but confirmed. The source has been accurate with each title he's put under the microscope.

But this should really put the resolution argument to bed. If GTAIV looks better on the PS3, and by all accounts thus far, it does, then all this pixel counting amounts to is blast processing.

Yet ..even if this is true .. the ps3 version still is said to look better and the 360 is said to look jagged.

I believe that R* probably felt that the performance on the 360 at 720p was close enough to the PS3 at 630p that it wasn't worth lowering the resolution, but performance at 720p on PS3 wasn't acceptable enough.

Actually the PS3 videograbs don´t look more blurry overall than those from the 360. Maybe they´re using a type of edge blur like Crysis does. Unlike Quinux, this doesn´t blur the whole image, but only the outlines of an object.

I just carjacked some woman. I went to drive off but there was a tree in front of me. I looked in the rear view and there was another right behind me. I tried to open the door and run away but another one appeared blocking my escape.

I now have a fear of trees both in game and the real world.

Because you can test it yourself to verify, if you don't mind counting hundreds of steps.

So now that we have MGO & GTA4 running at near PS2 resolutions, I think we can safely say the architecture of the PS3 has throughly defeated two of the best developers in the business.

Break out the duct tape gentlemen.

Can people please post a few PS3 screengrabs then. I've seen the PNG comparison, but would like a few different shots to make up my mind.

The truth is that Rockstar could not get GTAIV to run at native 720p on the PS3. It also appears that in lowering the resolution to compensate for performance factors, they were able to add some additional bells and whistles that makes it look awesomer.

There is also a sweet ass tree on the 360 version that is not confirmed for PS3.

First post in this fucked up thread. I post at B3D and Quaz just doesn't pick and choose over AAA games. He does this with every game and he is always right. Not joining the fray talking about the differences in the two versions of GTA, just giving background to what he does. He does this with every game and then he talks about why the developers will do this. Quaz is legit.

Maybe they could add the option to switch to this resolution in a future 360 patch.

They could call it "The HD era really only starts when we say it does <PS3 mode>" or something.

I don't know why everyone is freaking out about visuals so much, most of you will be so into the game you won't notice the visual quirks. What I find really disturbing is the pop up's that Dot50Cal has shown. That should be everyones concern!

With zero AA (whether MSAA or otherwise) and 630P it would be a complete mess and all reviews would slam it. The pixels are too big (see Halo 3). If you say it has "softer IQ" then it must have some sort of AA. If the PS3 version has AF then that will also help IQ immensely with things like road textures.

I don't dispute Quaz at all. But given that COD4 and Halo3 both run at sub 720P, I guess some are trying to comprehend what the big deal is over GTAIV at 630P?

It's more likely that if EviLore and crew banned people for being fanboys, this place would be as empty as a sidewalk before a tree sprouted.

that R* didn't want to make the 360 even more jaggy than it already is. That it doesn't have the power to do enough PP effects to smooth it out like the ps3.

It was a joke, he was making fun of all the people repeatedly asking what version, what build, is his system old or new, etc.
