RG 00 Raiser is done. Man, RGs really are my favorite kits to build.

Comparison with HG 00 Raiser:

I see your RG 00 and raise you my own!

Fantastic kit. It's not my personal favorite of the line, but the it's definitely the strongest of those I've built.

Edit: Wanted to post earlier but my 00's at work and I didn't have any (good) pictures of it at the time.

God fucking dammit Thunderbolt 2 is so good. This is everything I want out of Gundam. I wish it were longer and more frequent. The characters, the art, the soundtrack. Just all perfect.

Yep.

Unicorn the F91 followed by Victory.

Judau isnt in any of them though he makes a kick ass apperance in Crossbone, the manga that follows F91 on the lead up to Victory.

oh he does? nice! maybe i have to re-read crossbone now that i watched ZZ. i must've missed him since i read it w/o watching ZZ.

He goes by a different alias.

He helped Tobia and it is revelad he is piloting an old busted ZZ because he never let it go and kept it togethercwith duct tape and spit.

i'm going to try and read it this weekend... but i might start unicorn instead. haha
Well Unicorn is pretty universally loved on Gaf so I cant wait to hear your opinion on it.

Though I still somehow ended up against Gundam Gaf as I think it has only one good character and he gets all the best suits lol.

maybe you like going against the grain. lol

remember when you joked Quess was the best female character, i really couldn't tell you were joking =)
i honestly took you at your word! hahaha

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Universally loved? Hardly.

Some great fights for sure, but the story was barf and no one I know liked the space babies.

Pics from my trip to Odaiba on National Foundation Day.

Album

Gundam Front Tokyo is smaller than I expected, but still a cool place to visit. The most interesting areas are the free ones too (Gunpla Exhibition, Official Gift Shop).

Thunderbolt - Episode 2

Goddamn that was dark as fuck. Thunderbolt definitely reminds me of those super edgy "dark" action OVAs from the 80s and 90s that were "mature" and shit, except with less tits and more robots. I love the action, the tight feeling of each episode, and how detailed everything looks. There's also this super oppressive feeling which works for what they're going for. We don't really have to care that much about the characters because they're probably all going to die or be fucked for life anyway, but I think the feeling that "war is shit" is sold pretty well for the short runtime.

Teraoka storyboarded this episode so it's good to see his action choreography isn't going to waste here unlike the IBO episodes he storyboards which don't even have any mecha action these days! Lol. Love the use of the music (even though the songs are kinda bad), and I think the lip sync on the characters in cockpit scenes are more detailed than usual. Cool touches.

Can't wait for ep3 in March. Definitely picking up the blu-ray for this when it's complete.

i saw it earlier today,
i don't know what was that flashing light was that drove the Gundam away while severing his left hand

I thought she said that about Lalah? I don't think even Beth would joke about liking Quess since she's just one of the worst female characters in the franchise.

I think it was an EMP bomb or something? It didn't cause any physical damage, but I think if the Gundam didn't evade the light plus the EMP might be disabled it and allowed the rescue crew to wipe it out. It didn't hurt his hand btw, the Gundam's beam saber did that.

yeah, that makes sense...
hmm i better take another watch and recheck that scene.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
Got my first kit the other day from Barnes and Nobles---HG Barbatos. It was pretty fun to build but it's really fragile, like I'm scared to pose it, and also I realized I don't really like how "steamlined" and skinny the suit in general looks. Also how the fuck do you do stickers right?

Really fun though so I order the HG Double Zeta since that looks really cool, bulkier, and a bit more difficult.

Is Thunderbolt ep. 2 streaming anywhere? I watched the first one on their youtube channel but it doesn't look like it's there.

Most of the complaints I've seen against Unicorn have been about "Zeonwank", and yeah, I can kinda see it.

I thought it was fun, at least. Lots of neat mecha, and it was cool to see all the old Zeon machines come back for one final showdown.

You do the Barbatos stickers by not doing them and instead painting them. It's not terribly difficult since there are recesses. The various Grazes feel a bit more sturdy than the Barbatos, if you still want something from IBO, but the skinny thing is pretty much the IBO aesthetic unless it's a frog.

If you want a Zeta to go along with your Double Zeta, the Lightning Zeta is probably the best Zeta out there right now.
transforming is overrated, and if you're scared of the Barbatos, you'd hate the RG Zeta lol

That's a statement I'm not even going to try to deny.
heheh "evil puru two chuckle, episode 43"

oh i'm curious if double Zeta transforms.

not that i seen so far, it hasn't been posted officially on youtube as the 1st episode. you may have to google for it.

I think the HG barbatos is the least fragile kit you can build. very good build quality while being light enough to a numerous amount of poses. The stickers are what hold this kit back but for 12 bucks I can't complain.

In the manga,
it's a flashbang grenade that gets reflected off of the colony's solar mirrors. The Gundam never touches him and he gets away cleanly, losing his hand under different circumstances later on

thanks TacticalHotdog. there's a manga? i want to check it out (after the 4 episodes are done) that's what that was... it looked like a
micro nuke w/ the white flash =)

The series is based on an ongoing manga. Unfortuantely, most links to it were taken down recently due to a big wave of copyright violation notices by RightStuf. They don't even distribute any Gundam manga so I wonder if they somehow acquired the total rights to the Gundam franchise

PM me if you want to take a look at them

yeah will do! thanks man =)

i'm curious if rightstuf is going to be offering manga's soon... but their blu ray prices so far i'm not too hot on.

you building that tonight?

it's freezing in NJ right now 4F degrees. going to try and gunpla but i think i don't want to move. using my gaming laptop power brick as a foot warmer =) i might start some panel lining for my gp-01 arms

My markers are definitely at the end of their life. Those lines were too thick because of the frayed edges.

I should have gone slower but this kit was so simple I was compelled to finish it ASAP. I'm not terribly pleased with how I did... But hey, I now have Barbatos.

Time to raise my flag.

That's the one I just got!

The most fragile part is the legs waist connector---every time I try and move the legs it falls off. Maybe I just didn't put it together well enough or something...:(

I think you can transform it into the G-Fortress.

this is kit from barnes you got? someone mentioned it's 12 bucks.. looks like a nice kit for the price.

btw, if you have any pledge clear floor polish in the house or super glue, you can put a coating over the parts that are loose. to thicken the joint friction. (though you might not be concerned since it's not too pricey of a kit.)

learned that tip from expensive hobby of Macross toys when joints get loose.

I actually didn't get mine from Barnes and Noble. Was in Birmingham to see Deadpool with a friend, went by a comic/specialty store and they had a decent assortment of Gunpla. I probably overpaid at $25 but I'll think of it as supporting places that carry them.

The nearby Barnes and Noble DID have the G-Self. I was conflicted but decided to get Barbatos from the other place.

Yeah I was surprised it was so cheap.

The Double Zeta from Amazon wasn't too much more, like 16.00, plus free Shipping---though it won't arrive till March. I want to build another kit now! :(

Where's a good place to buy them, anyway?

yeah, i like to support my local hobby shop as well.

for already released kits and sinlge buys amazon is definitely the first place i look. i think they are the cheapest and fastest in most cases.

for pre-orders and new releases amazon gets them late, so i go with HLJ (Hobby Link Japan) amiami
or hobby search.

kits are really low priced to pre-order but shipping is high to ship from JYP so it come about the same cost as amazon, unless you use slow poke SAL shipping (i usually do that for single kits)

it's better to group in bunch and ship from import shops and it works out cheaper then buying them at amazon most of the time.

definitely bookmark those places.

Good choice on skipping the G-Self; I wanted to like it, but the stickers, man. Barbatos is a better kit.

Yeah I was surprised it was so cheap.

IBO kits are cheap by design. Mainly so they can sell you weapon kits.

If you can get what you want locally, go for it.
If you already have Prime, Amazon's a good source.
HobbyLinkJapan has a great warehouse feature and is generally good for model stuff.
AmiAmi and Gundam Planet are also good.

so i finished 2 episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn last night, was too tired to post but i just got in an hour ago.

each episode it pretty long... i'm very intrigued...

the character playing Char is interesting.
the Zabi girl is back.

So someone finally made a legit King Kittan.

Damn, that is pretty legit. He didn't mess around on making it look dirty either. Good work.

lol thanks

Bandai released a new HGUC Qubeley just a couple months ago in the Revive line. A quick google search seems to indicate it's pretty good, and I know in the past that all the other Revive kits have been received very well.

Your alternatives are the old HGUC Qubeley (yeah, no, why) and the MGs, which are both pretty old, but I don't really know the consensus on them.
