was pretty exhausted from the weekend so i didn't do much watching sunday or yesterday.

i finally finished episode 3 of unicorn this morning after failing to see the ending 3x due to lack of sleep previously and just got done w/ ep.4

my impressions:
Wow, Captain Bright is back! didn't know he was going to show. i thought unicorn was just going to to make references of him by name associated w/ the Nahel Argama. Good to see him back. His hair looks darker...

walking through the desert all of a sudden i got ungry for cambells soup. it looks like the Zeon captain was making chicken broth.

puru 12 looks messed up.

When Banagher starting beating the captain, i started to like him, i still hate when these pilots cry ridiculously but at least he's not Shinn bad. they show a picture of amuro... that's so sad.

the ending of episode 4 was surprising to see a dark suit of the same type. now, i'm hooked =)

What'd you think of that sick as fuck mecha battle?

man, this is great, i hope they make a metal build of unicorn.
Well we have the GFF Metal Composite line which is very similar and several Unicorn Gundams already released.

They are prepping the 03 Phenix for release now actually.

Granted I wouldnt mind seeing it get the MB treatment. Anything to break away from SEED/OO is good in my books.

I think each episode had a theatrical release.

Theatrical Releases have become a super significant source of extra revenue for OVA releases now. The basic strategy for pretty much every OVA release is to debut it in theaters a bit before it launches on video. Not only can you get people to double dip on theater releases and the Blu-Ray/DVDs, but you can sell expensive collector's ticket packages. You can pack in a early copy of the blu-ray, exclusive merchandise, and other small things. Super fans go wild and you can make a high profit on those items.

I had so many favorite parts. I found it funny that the federation still had a Byarlant of all things in storage.

That was the best mobile suit to come out of Unicorn. It was also cool to see a random Fed take out a bunch of Zeon suits. It doesn't happen often.

Well it's not like the guy was in some mook suit, it was a Byarlant. It was a Paptimus designed high mobility suit. I'm pretty sure that thing got upgraded since the Titans had it.

Byarlant Custom dude was almost as cool as Stark Jegan dude.

Not really surprised that the Federation would have one; They still had GM IIs deployed and whatnot.

Makes me wonder what other Paptimus designed suits they kept. Anybody know if there are more Asshimars laying around?
Doubt it.

I'd love to have seen Hambrabi action, too.

Zeta really was great UC gundam. I miss the changing mecha so prevalent in that show (that didn't rely so much on Core technology).

Hambrabi just ain't the same without Yazan though and yes Zeta had some great designs. Some I don't like, and there are those that don't like the transforming, but the bulk of the designs are solid in my opinion. I like how everything just kept evolving and they really had to put effort into designing new suits. It's like if you stayed behind you'd be dead, unless you were Kamille whom just happened to design one of the best suits in the show.

I still love the fucking background music in this scene. I've scoured the internet for it and have never found it, either.

I want a fully remastered Zeta in this vein. :(

Actually... no. I want a fully remastered Mobile Suit Gundam.

Yeah, the Fed upgraded it. There was even another more advanced unit with regular hands and the ability to transform but it had trouble starting so the one we saw had to clean the mess alone.

So... take with a grain of salt, and I'm sure allot of you have already seen this, but gg is reporting that the next RG will be one of the following:

1) Unicorn (Bandai's perfected the transformation at this scale?)
2) Sinanju (villain suit first?)
3) Stark Jegan (lol no)

Again, with a grain of salt. gg's posted false positives before, and this one's p. unusual because it's a list of options without an official, promotional pic or any source whatsoever. They're doubling down on it though so I don't know what's up.

GG has doubled down on (very) wrong news before, so I'm not inclined to believe this at all. He doesn't even have a fucking source for his news, like always.

Hell I believe rumors on /m/ more than I believe rumors that he posts.

RG Unicorn would be pretty nice though.

Not inclined to believe it, but I can only imagine how much of a nightmare a RG Unicorn would be. No thanks. Wouldn't get the Sinanju without the Unicorn.

where my RG Gouf, GM, and Ground Gundam, Bandai

I would grab both a Unicorn and a Sinanju. Would skip stark.

Im still expecting Force Impulse and Deathscythe Hell so as well. Plus I think we will see God before 25.

Is there like a kit I could buy that includes all the bullshit I'd need to build a model? I'm contemplating going into Midtown Comics to checkout their selection for my first model.

I'm not aware of any bundles like that. At minimum you need clippers and sandpaper. For the sand paper, I'm using 1000 and 2000 grade. You'll probably want a hobby knife to help shave down the nubs a little easier and for decals, but you really don't need a lot for a simple build.

Edit: Also note I've only built like 2 models, so I'm not much of an expert on this.

I am so damn slow at building. I started making the MG RX-78-2 3.0. I've had two two hour build sessions and I'm still not done with the core fighter. I wish I could paint the little Amuro, but I don't have tools/skill to do it.

You'll probably have to make at least two purchases.

You can go with the Tamiya Basic Tool Set, which is available on Amazon.

Then the kit is up to you,but you might consider the Gunpla Starter Set 2, which includes a HG RX-78-2 and a grey Gundam marker for panel lining.

Or hey, the HG RX-78-2 Revive kit is under $10 with Prime shipping. That's super cheap.

I've used sandpaper on a few parts, and I get why it can be useful, but if you're just starting out, you shouldn't worry about it.

Especially if you get the Revive kit I mentioned. It's made for beginners.

Stark's not coming. That's part of the dubiousness of the post. Of course it wouldn't come. It's not Hollywood enough.

Impulse and God are both things in the "yeah, somebody probably" group in my head. You might be able to reuse the God's frame with the Master Gundam. Impulse is a SEED main character suit, and Bandai's already shown they can do a core fighter suit in this line. It'll definitely be a long while at least for Impulse. The HGCE is scheduled to come out... sometime this year (presumably).

Don't hold your breath on Deathscythe Hell. RG selection is very picky, and I wouldn't count on this making the cut. Any Wing and 00 polls Bandai's put out before are, imo, just feelers to gauge profitability of candidates, not "Pick the next RG!". They never had a chance on their own because they're not main character suits.

Is sandpaper really necessary?

No. Allot of my early models were built without. Absolute minimum you need is clippers, preferably a basic tool kit with a blade too to clean up more (like Tamiya's basic tool kit). Next I heavily recommend some sort of pen for lining. Then sandpaper. I use 800 the most and cleanup with higher grits. Then topcoat.

A mega-size, I guess. They're designed to be built without tools. But you really shouldn't be buying one of those right off.

The tools you really need are a pair of side cutters and a hobby knife. The cheap cutters you can find at hobby stores will suffice for a few kits.

I'd like to start with a decent Wing kit I guess cause I'm pretty sure the Unicorn stuff is too advanced.

Make sure you're not buying like a super old Wing kit or something.

If you want the Wings, you want #162 and #174.

I wouldn't usually recommend a MG kit as your first, but I recently built the MG Tallgeese, and for an MG, it's pretty simple. Not a lot of parts (again, for a MG. It's still rather complex compared to a HG.)

That's the only Wing kit I have experience with.

I don't think there are any recent HG Wing kits. There is that nice RG though. But man, RGs are serious business.

edit: Nvm, the above kits look pretty nice!

I was going to go the Sandrock route for my first kit. I don't really like some of the lead suits enough to build one unless it's Zeta or Nu. Doesn't a hobby knife require gloves?

Didn't an RG Altron come out last year?

I've got this bad boy sitting here waiting to be built.

I mean, it's not especially complicated, though I can see how it might be a bit intimidating at first. If you're willing to have patience with it though, I think you'll be just fine.

Also, I never use gloves with my hobby knife. That might be because I'm a bit stupid but I've never really needed them.

Yeah the MG Sandrock looks bad ass. I'm a bit clumsy so I figured I'd need gloves.

Well, in the interest of safety and your fingerprints, you should probably wear gloves. I don't, personally. Just be careful with it and you'll avoid most damage.

There's an HG Nu and a Zeta. Of the two, I would go with the Nu since it's a quite a bit newer and a revive of the Zeta's probably in the cards at some point.

Avoid the RG Zeta if you value your sanity.

MGs are fairly easy to assemble, as far as models go.

I heard RG Zeta was a nightmare. Did the Gerbera Tetra ever get a good kit?

RG Zeta in its natural habitat.

It's not that bad if you intend to put it together in MS mode and display it as a brick. But yeah, it's not too fun if you intend to transform it. It can stand straight, though, which is more than can be said for the 2.0 MG.

Gerbera got one back in 2013, and it's not a bad kit. The thruster assembly on the shoulders are a bit fragile which is the main issue, and it's a wee bit pricey online.

If you want something from 0083, the GM Custom is a very good kit. The GPs haven't gotten love in HG form in a long time, but the RG GP01s are pretty solid.
