What. SEED and Wing have terrible protags. Kira Jesus might be the most insufferable person in the entire franchise.
My favorites are Amuro, Judah, Kou, Marbet and Christie.

Usso has the highest body count of all, which is funny and scary at the same time actually. Better chance of surviving a fight with Judau than god damn Uso.
Kamille was fine, just needed several smacks upside his head to grow up. I actually liked him more than Judau cause Judau just came off as a fucking street punk half the time.

I really need to watch that again...who would even be the dominant one in that pairing? They never struck me as a Dorothy x Relena couple.
Dominate? Neither really. More like just drinking buddies over Sasuke being a helpless but love able chump and they have some fun together. No need to be an actual couple. Just two ladies who ar strong and want to enjoy the moment having a good time.

Lol that is true they do but for as man hatred as I can be I love the cast men included and I also love the females and I just don't see the castin FMP ever being in any life long relationship besides as friends.

I can easily see Mao being in some sort of lesbian relationship, but I don't think it works with any other female in the cast though unless she just winds up in a relationship with the twincest chicks.
They scare the hell out of me. I just can't wait for Heero, Setsuna, and Sasuke to all be in one SRW game......they've on,y ever had two so far.

I really do think Sosuke's the most normal out of those three. As fucked up as Sosuke can be sometimes he still has something resembling a sense of humor...even though FMP just played him straight in a comedic sense. He does seem to have better soldier instincts than Setsuna did.

I just take it as Beth being Beth at this point. She likes it more for the mechs than the actual show and stories from what I can gather.
Zera Amuro isn't a lead so I don't consider him in the running.
CCA Amuro is good but the fact that Heero enjoys killing sets him apart and Judau is a fucking boss, best overall lead in Gundam and has one of the top three suits in the ZZ.

Early Heero was borderline Yazan Gable. Would've loved a full show with that Heero as the lead.
It's why I said Heero episode 1-5. Heero after episode 22 and the new writing staff was pure trash and a waste of a lead who ended up being a shallow pacifist.
Sadist Heero who laughs as he kills people is great because we have nothing else like it.
A pacifist bitch who's wife ignores what he wants and gardens on Mars. What a drop from the start of Wing. Fuck you Sumizawa your original idea was better.

Well it's be great to see a weapon of war used like a weapon of war and the show not try to pussy foot around it for once and the killing seen from someone who craved it in gundam would be amazing.

Say what you want about the story, but it was well animated. And visually attractive.
Man the G. Wing series and Endless Waltz were so hype when I was a kid. I still remember the Toonami promos with the Optimus Prime narration. "Suit up!". So bad ass.
Rewatching them years later was sort of a bummer since none of it really held up imo. Also blew my mind finding out about all the older UC shows / movies and how separate Wing was from that. Growing up in London / America Gundam started and ended with Wing.

Am I like the only American that fell in love with Gundam twice? First time as a pre-teen with the MSG movie and then again with Wing?
Nah I did as well.
Early teen with Wing and dropped Gundam with the rest and came back with SEED.
I just didn't start disliking Wing like many people have.

I don't think I ever really dropped Gundam. I just kept watching more shows. I like UC and AU equally.

G holds up fine simply because it was nonsense then and its nonsense now. It revels in its insanitiy and does not ask the viewer to believe it for one second. The others though... outside of Athrun `its weird that I`m seemingly the only normal mentaly stable protagonist in this franchise` Zala, ask the viewer to suspend a bit to much disbelief at times no matter how big a gundam fan we are.

That's why Athrun is the best Seed protagonist. Cagali was practically suicidal throwing herself at death cause she thought it was a game. Kira ended up getting hit with a fucking resurrection and it blew his fucking mind and Shinn was an asshole.

Me. I watched Wing and MSG when they aired on Toonami. I didn't really understand either at the time, but thought they were smart and I wanted to seem smart, so I liked them.
Over a decade went by. Then I got Starfox 64 3DS. One of the bosses reminded me of Gundam, I think it was Sector Y. Particularly the catalpults. So I decided to revisit the first Gundam.
Fell in love. Ended up watching the entire franchise in the course of 8 months. Also got to watch Gundam AGE as it aired.
These days, 80% of the reason I'm a Gundam fan is because of UC. However, I do enjoy AUs to varying degrees. I'm at the very least willing to give them a chance. I thought IBO was pretty good, though it meandered a little too much.
Well I hated MSG and think G is pure garbage with awful designs.
Sadly we didn't get ZZ back then or I may not have fallen out of love with Gundam as I love ZZ and Unicorn as much if not more so theno any AU series.
Age was the last Gundam I watched seriously though and can't bring myself to care the ugly art of G Reco and the nasty designs of IBO.
I did watch Build but it peasked with episode 15 and I lost interest by 20.

That episode makes Char look a lot more evil than portrayed in the original series. lol

I stopped caring about Gundam after zz, never finished wing, and fall in love with the series again with seed. To be honest, nothing after that ever get as good as seed. Unicorn, gbf, orphan are pretty good, but they never recapture the seed feeling.

since the reboot it seems like everyone got some high doses of over the top emotions
I mean it is so amusing that both the volume (I believe) and this movie had that evil eye scene were Char's glare is so strong it can not only petrify someone but literally stun their nerves system and also make them fly meters away lol
but I kinda like it.... it feels whimsical like a Studio Ghibli character
That was me, just opposite order. Loved Wing and Endless Waltz as a kid, then later found out about all the UC material and ended up loving the original movie trilogy, Zeta, War in the Pocket, 08th MS Team, etc.
Sort of getting back into it recently again also. Loved Unicorn, enjoying Origin so far and I'm excited to see Thunderbolt.

What was it about Seed that grabbed so many people? I like it yeah, but it's not god tier to me. Charter designs aren't even iconic. I actually think the first 00 season is better than it...granted I've seen it less than Seed. I guess cause Seed is fun and easy enough to digest.
