A bunch of new announcements today. In addition to the Metal Build F91 and P-Bandai HGCE Sword Impulse, we've also got coming P-Bandai MG Nu HWS (with people speculating will have a blue psychoframe?) and RG 00 7 Swords (finally - it appears to be an expo exclusive right now but I can't imagine that not going up for sale otherwise in some way).

Edit: It all looks pretty cool. For me, interest from most to least:

Nu HWS - I like the HWS stuff but don't like the Hi-Nu at all and don't own the Nu ver. ka... or any ver. ka kit for that matter.
Metal Build F91 - So ridiculously pretty.
RG 00 7 Swords - Probably will go P-Bandai at some point, but I already own the vanilla RG 00 Raiser and am not so sure if I want another (even though the 7 Swords is what I wanted originally).
HGCE Sword Impulse - Already own the MG, have the Blast Impulse coming already. That's enough Impulse for me.

I don't hate quess like a lot of people but I do think it would have been better off without her.

With regards to beltorchika, she was actually his girlfriend in the novel. I prefer chan. Amuro not bring able to hold down a long term relationship feels right. He's too maladjusted.

0080 only gets better, dude. First episode is the weakest, but still great
I think at the end of the day the movie felt rushed already without introducing all these new characters, which at the end of the day did very little to contribute to the story of Amuro and Char (Which is what we were all there for, I know I was) and it all just left me feeling a bit underwhelmed.

I can buy into the fickleness of Newtypes more in a longer series, but with a character like Quess having mood swings and whatnot all so quickly in a movie just feels so rushed.

I guess that makes sense with regards to Amuro and Chan. I did like Beltorchika though and Chan suffered much the same as Quess in having very little development or point to existing for me.

Sounds like I'm in for a treat with 0080! Can't wait to watch some more.

I think the biggest flaw with regards to the whole thing is time frames. The movie takes place over a decent stretch of time (like a week?) Yet it does feel rushed.

I do think we needed to see or at least be told more about Char's transition from Quattro, but I do think there is enough in the shows to at least draw some sort of conclusions, as messy as they are.

I don't hate Hathaway. His problem is that he's paired up with Quess, who is the least interesting part of the movie (though I suspect she is probably the most important, if you were to ask Tomino). She is supposed to be hateable, imho. Her name is Pariah lol.

Those last 20 or 30 minutes though are fantastic. Just wish the build up would have been handled a bit smoothly.

Got my biggest gunpla haul in the mail today it includes:

  • MG Full Armour Gundam Ver. Ka
  • MG Shining Gundam
  • 4 action bases
  • Basic Gundam Markers
I would take a photo, but I'm away at school so I won't be able to get to building them until winter. I am looking forward to uping my game when it comes to making kits.

War in the Pocket is so good! Half way through and I'm loving it, it's so good to see this more down to earth, behind the scenes look at what was happening during the One Year War.

But I have a feeling this isn't going to end well :(

War in the Pocket was pretty good and had some awesome mecha designs. I like that we're given a story that focuses on Zeon grunts instead of the usual.

Well...no. But I feel it's coming after a few years. That's why I haven't bought the Master Gundam yet.

We live in the dark timeline where Bandai never makes new G Gundam kits.

I'd kill to see MG 2.0s and an HGFC Shuffle Alliance. Maybe if the Blu-Ray sales are good, it'll convince them to give it another shot?

Gundam building/table got an appropriate AE flag upgrade. Also matted my Aegis and put some dry transfers on it (could not get the wet ones to work well so I skipped them), just gotta make an action base and plop it on the shelf.

And finally made it to the Gundam! I went to Tokyo for Ultra and was surprised and super happy to know that the Gundam was the entrence for it! Two birds one stone. Was hilarious to see all the Ultra people dressed up for the music festival at the mall and gundam while the families and tourists were like "WTF is going on", Gundam and crazy stage/lights was great.

Impaled Gundamu looks excellent, looking forward to the finished pics. Mad jelly of flag and trip, too.

War in the pocket is god tier imo.

It's my "go to" gundam in order to get someone into UC specially when they associate "gundam" with just Gundam Wing

Regarding CCA, I remenber being hugely dissapointed with the movie, the pacing was a hot mess and I can remenber two characters being annoying. However, the animation , music and the ending were great.

Reminder to go pick up your Hyaku Shiki beer jokki before they stop offering it for the year.

I keep forgetting about this, where can I grab one again? (please tell me online) The mini shop(s) at the mall were pretty cleared out on products sadly. Also didn't want to lug around stuff while at that concert lol.

War in the Pocket... man. Probably my first solid 10/10 Gundam. It did stuff in 6 episodes that many of the shows fail to do in 50+. First Gundam to make me tear up, too.

Bernie... :(

This... might be the source of your troubles. The Aegis MG doesn't have any waterslides. It has only stickers and dry transfers. A quick primer on sticker/decal sheets:

Stickers - green sheet
Dry transfers - uncolored, clear sheet
Wet transfers - blue sheet

If you've been dunking the clear sheets in water, you won't get good results! Unless you bought some 3rd party waterslides?

Unless you wanna pay a markup on yahoo auctions, you can just visit the Gundam Cafe/Bar and they will give you a beer and mug to take home in a box for 1,500円

They do it every year tho since like 2013, depends on during the season they do.

I'm tempted to ask you to buy one for me but I don't even drink beer :p
Plus $15~ for a glass seems too much, especially when empty. Plus I have shipping fears.

Definitely has a blue sheet

that was good...

Al is pretty damn fast to always catch up to mobile suits on foot!
Haha yeah he was pretty damn quick on foot. Probably the best Gundam series I've seen yet, I think the universe lends itself really well to these kinds of side stories.

Only watched one episode of 0083: Stardust Memory so far but the animation is gorgeous.

War in the Pocket is one of the reasons I think a big budget live action Gundam movie could work. Does not need to be about the main conflict (but why wouldn't it be I guess...) Gundam can and sometimes does do an amazing compelling story with only a handful of episodes and not too much mind fuckery. Most recently Thunderbolt.

Yeah I can definitely see something like War in the Pocket working as a standalone live action title. Or even a standalone animated movie outside of the Gundam continuity, although the little references to MSG made it all that much better for me.

It's seriously good so far, just finished episode 3. Not a fan of the ED but all the other music is on point and I just can't get over how nice it looks. Watching it in 1080p on my iPad and it just pops.

Really impressed with the quality of the OVAs so far. Got 08th MS Team and Thunderbolt lined up after this and then it's on to Unicorn so a lot of OVA goodness still left!
