Metal Build Gundam F91

(still has not watched F91) despite actually having it for years and all the free time in the world. Might do it tonight.

edit: finished it, kinda rushed and overly long for a movie. Can see why people would have wanted that to be a season. Pretty good though, liked the design of the F91, pretty brutal showing what fights inside colonies would have been like. Kinda confused on Cecily's mood changes and the general attitude of some characters outside the reasoning of "its the 90s and Japan+women" but have a better understanding of Seabook and Cecily instead of lines from various gundam games which made them both seem like crazy as fuck.

Continuing to be great so far. A fair amount of action this time through with Tobia becoming more effective in combat. Also learned that it sucks to live on Jupiter with scarce resources. You would think since mankind has been there for over 50 years they would have tried to making the availability of resources easier.

Just finished The 8th MS Team and enjoyed it. Too bad current animation isn't as good. Guess I'll try to continue ZZ (had to stop after 8 episodes of shenanigans).

Phew, Legilis finally arrived today; I was getting worried that the USPS had eaten it or something!

Glad to see all the love for War In The Pocket, absolutely my favorite overall Gundam show.

Oh my thats pretty good. I would like to get a F91 kit at some point, I'll need to see how much it is when it goes up.

The Master Grade has been around for some time, it's not as modern as the latest kits, but it's outstanding nonetheless and can be had for a reasonable amount.

Okay done with Stardust Memory. Honestly felt like more style than substance. Great designs and animation but the story didn't really go... anywhere. It just retreaded territory we've visited over and over again before. I guess it ties 0079 together with Zeta nicely if nothing else.

Started on 08th MS Team, only one episode in though.

Stardust is visually fun if nothing else. I like it enough, but I don't think I have a favorite character from it though. Men of Destiny is a good OP though. Minus a couple of things 08 MS Team is great, should git gud by ep 5.

0083 is my favorite maybe bc i watched it before zeta so it was all a fresh story to me.

gp-02a was so awesome. the director of macross designed gp-01 and 02.

I loved Gato bc he was non-newtype

Stardust Memory works best as a interlude between 0079 and Zeta to understand the Titans and the underlying conflict that will take place.

G Reco has like the best Gundam Animation in years. It is certainly the prettiest with the best animated scenes in a long time for a Gundam anime.

I think everything after AGE looks good.

I agree but 0083 was released 6 years after Zeta so most people didn't watch it like that and it wasn't made with that in mind exactly. It retreads a lot of ground from Zeta and ZZ (Another Colony Drop, really?) but it was pretty solid overall.

I think it might be jarring going from that to Zeta though.

The colony drop is pretty much a Gundam staple at this point. If it ain't a colony drop is a massive laser weapon or a psycho crusher built into a space station.

Or a giant microwave gun.

I think a full chronological viewing of UC would be interesting, but I don't have time for that. Maybe early UC, at least.

I love 0083. Culturally it is the most true to life in terms of military culture. I love the attention to detail, characters have name tapes, warfare devices, you see ECPs. The only thing that will always bug me is hair cuts.
Kotobukiya's new lineup HEXAGEAR looks legit.
Basically, it's Frame Arms + Transformers + Zoids, and little humies ridin' on them.

So the hexagear parts allow easy customization, on top of the already versatile 3mm joints.
THe potential looks endless.
The sad thing however is that the rider (they call them Governors here) are only 72mm tall, so I don't think it's compatible with other 6-inch stuff like figma or even HG 1/144 gunpla.

Kotobukiya is on a roll nowadays with all the new, non-licensed kits (Frame Arms, Frame Arms Girls, Mega Me Device....) and this seems to be by far the most ambitious. Depending on the price-range, I might stop waiting for Sabre Tiger and Blade Liger re-release and jump the ship to here. Because this looks seriously awesome.
Ok. Finished building RG Exia. I love that little kit. Just a great mix of little details, nice possibility and fun to build. Really made me realize how much I dig the 00 Suit designs.

Since I've already got the Qan[T] on order at HLJ from the sale, I'm really tempted to pick up the 00 on Amazon too now and have the complete set.

So something that was always bugging me about Seed is how did the normal humans develop more advanced mobile suits than the not-newtypes?

Sharing what a bro of mine posted in a different thread.

Yeah, Kotobukiya have really been upping their game recently.

So I tend to watch a lot of anime with my father and he finally decided he really wanted to try and finally watch UC era Gundan from beginning to end. We're going chronologically, so we started with Gundam The Origin and he's enjoying things so far.

Now, while I've seen nearly all of the UC (I think the only two I haven't completed are thunderbolt and Origin 3) I'm not entirely sure on chronological timeline order for a couple, so any corrections would be appreciated

Gundam The Origin 1
Origin 2
Origin 3
Gundam Movie 1-3 (watching the movies rather than series)
(This is where it gets tricky)
Gundam 8th MS Team
Gundam 0080
Gundam Thunderbolt
Gundam 0083
Zeta Gundam
Double Zeta
Char's Counterattack
Gundam Unicorn
And I imagine we'll pretty much stop there since F91 and Victory are mostly their own things and whenever Origin 4 hits we'll jump back to that, but for the 0079-0080 OVAs if anyone knows their timeline order for sure it'd be a big help.

The main problem humans had was they physically couldn't handle mobile suit piloting. Also their first "modern" mobile suits were built by ORB, who had both humans and coordinators working together. Based on the data collected from the Strike, the Federation designed the grunt suits that appear mid to late into the war.

At the same time there was a secret branch led by Azrael that had been working for a while on solving the human physical problem by creating enhanced human computers. ORB went around this issue by simplifying the suit OS.

Both sides used the X models to advance their tech but ZAFT was ahead thanks to the nuke powered mechs.

This is the right order.

Just a heads up, the last part of the Char OVA comes out next month.

Isn't it mid-november? I could've sworn I read it was around like November 18th (Which is right up against my Dad's B-day amazingly enough.) Either way thanks for the heads up, but with how fast we tend to move it'll probably be best to just throw it in whenever it's finally out, rather than try and find a few shows to squeeze in between now and November.

I actually also just got back into Gundam Models too. My mother went to Japan on a business trip and nabbed me up the Gundam The Origin RX-78. Ended up redecaling all my old models from my teen years with third party decals, lining them, Top Coating them, and now I'm building a whole new set.

Built a Shin Matsunaga White Zaku, Wife bought me a Guncannon for my B-day and now I'm putting together the Gundam Unit Fb01 from 0083. I'd upload photos but it's not like I went into any serious work that I think they'd be all that interesting to look at.

Good order, but you are doing yourself a disservice not watching F91 and V.

Well, I've seen both already myself. F91 is 'okay' it's pretty apparent how 'crunched' it is to fit, what I recall was a first arc, into just two hours and seeing as I can never get him to read manga anyway (where as I understand it the F91 story 'sort of' continues?) it feels a bit pointless.

Also, I mean, maybe this is a controversial opinion on here, but I really don't like Victory Gundam. Over the last year I struggled through it and generally think it stands as one of the worst entries into the franchise I've seen (I have not seen: Gundam X, Turn A, Seed Destiny, MS Igloo, Gundam 00, Builders, Age, Build Fighters, or all of Thunderbolt), excluding Reco in G which I made my wife suffer through and she still hates me for saying "Don't worry, it'll get better!"

I am open though to people convincing me that he should see them however. Maybe I just didn't "get" why they were good.

You're right.

Finished with the HG Full Armor.

The small fin on top of the head broke. That part was ridiculously fragile but oh well.

I normally would have painted some of the parts red instead of using the stickers but I just didn't feel like it. I can always go back and do that later.

Are there good plot summaries for OG Gundam, Zeta, and Double Zeta? I want to refresh my memory before watching CCA, but all of the plot summaries I can find online are very cursory.
