The Gundam |OT2| Another 5 years of Gunpla, Origins, and GUNDAMUUUU!

i actually showed seed destiny to a group bc there's a guy we know who's just like shinn. always trying to play hero. you just pet him a bit and he'll wag his tail for you. it's so easy to use him.

Yup, that's what I said.

But with extra detail®

It wasn't that badly edited (just a few chunks of random nudity)

Every gun was a laser pistol. Even the sound effects were changed. This is the main reason its Toonami run isn't remembered fondly IIRC.

I hope eng dub Shinn sounds just as amazing as he did in this scene.

His dub VA did nail his smartass tendencies, I admit, but otherwise I didn't care much for him. Matthew Erickson, I believe. Ironically he also voiced Amuro in the Zeta dub.

Poor guy.

I was a little skeptical of USA Gundam store because my order hadn't arrived for... months but my HGCE Blast Impulse finally arrived. Hoo-ray! I'm gonna order some decals off samuelldecal, but some paint, and go to town on him.

Undoubtedly, even more than all those times Shinn murdered people for petty revenge or for affirming beliefs that he obviously had misgivings on, this is the moment Shinn most deserved to be punched in the face. Sadly Athrun only had one opp. to clock him one good for a comparatively minor offense (and that wasn't even minor in the grand scheme of things).

Man, that Shinn would have the gall to be sassy to his mentor figure about being supported by HQ for taking the kinds of actions that he'd learned previously in his own character arc are grossly inappropriate. ... I'm not even that mad at him. I blame Fukuda.

Does Fukuda write while intoxicated? It's the only way to explain Destiny and Cross Ange.

Well, my dad decided to be a true trooper and plow through this, uh, somewhat half-baked series. Episode 2 was better, and we both actually kind of enjoyed what was presented. It still had problems, and the point of the story was still probably off center, but otherwise we liked it. Episode 3 was again a step down, but still better than the first episode so he decided to continue onto Apocalypse.

Man apocalypse has been a step down so far. The entire episode feels off, forced metaphors, poignancy, and becomes accidentally humorous rather than tragic. But, he's resigned to continue, and I was going to watch every Gundam ever some day anyway.

You guys going to watch Victory?

Dunno yet. Leaning towards no right now, seeing as we're watching U.C. Era Chronologically (mostly anyway) up through the end of the Zeon vs Federation conflict. That's a lot of Gundam (over 125 episodes!) but if he's up for it I'd probably share it with him, even if I don't really like it (if it's Gundam. I have a hard time saying no. :p)

So no Zeta either then? He hasn't even seen the best and most polarizing stuff yet.

Whenever Anaheim is mentioned I think of Nina.

As for CCA, it's so weird having Char and Amuro gently ribbing each other and Char talking about the best way to save the human race is a slow migration up to space so the earth can heal and then when he shows up in CCA he's once again furious at Amaro and has decided to speed up his plan by killing everyone remaining on Earth.

Yeah Char in CCA is such a step down from Zeta Char. Zeta Char could actually converse with Amuro, CCA Char is prone to fisticuffs like a Jojo character.

There's an entire unexplored chapter there I am surprised that no one has tried to go back to. What Char and Amuro were originally planned for ZZ and the proposed ZZZ that would have picked up after ZZ.

I have come to terms that it's zeta char who is the odd man out. He's depressed or something. Maybe because it's the one point in the timeline where he doesn't have a goal.

In any case, consider this: he was friends for years with garma. The whole time he wanted to slaughter that fucker, but garam never noticed. Who is to say he wasn't pulling the same in in zeta?

I agree though. THEY really should put out official material bridging the gap.

I love CCA btw.

Does anyone else find it odd that Seabook's mom works for SNRI, but he goes to an Anaheim Electronics mechanic school.

That's like someone's parent working for Apple and sending their kid to Microsoft School

Really don't know if I want to pick up 0080 dvds or not, when I've bought all the others on BD.

Gonna suck having ~12 bd cases of UC gundam on the shelf and that one 0080 case sticking out like a sore thumb.

Still haven't picked up X for the same reason, though I'd like to.

I do agree that Shinn needed his shit pushed in something fierce (for instance, a Wong-style beatdown like what he did with Kamille could have really went a long way for Shinn), but Athrun was an exceptionally shitty mentor.

But yeah, I still blame Fukuda and Morosawa (regardless on my thoughts on Destiny, RIP).

Char going from Zeta into CCA made absolutely no sense to me, it was a really jarring change of character.

You have to extrapolate a bit to get to Char's CCA state of mind, but it makes sense when you learn that he might have figured about about Kamille post-Zeta, plus the events of ZZ probably didn't inspire him with much confidence (I would say that the Federation's indifference in ZZ was even worse than in Victory; at least in Victory, the Federation supported the League Militaire in some big ways, the Federation in ZZ was pretty much cool with
colony drops.
.) Deep down, CCA Char is a broken man with very few ideals to live for outside of a very flimsy spacenoids argument and settling a grudge with the one person who probably understood him the most due to his cold nature.
